Ex of Twitter (and many others before that) by way of mastodon.social (same user ID across a lot of platforms). Moved here because I like the ability to format posts and, sometimes, I need more than 500 characters ...plus there had been rumblings about mastodon.social getting widely defederated.

Does anyone else have surging electric?

I thought somebody had changed a light bulb in my bathroom, but it was just stronger electric. It explains why my air conditioner and refrigerator intermittently grind and chug up and down.

I'm in a residential hotel, and chalking it up to extra draw from somebody earlier in the circuit. Like when the people downstairs take a shower, mine gets colder.

@Uair @actuallyautistic

We have above ground electric. We get sags and surges both depending on other households' usage and weather conditions (wind, rain, heat, cold, etc ).

I feel this so hard. Why can't people just be clear about what they want?

I'm not on the spectrum and I still feel this. Then again, much of why I tend to succeed at my job is because I'm pretty pedantic about eliminating ambiguousness from taskings before starting to engage in actual work.

Shouldn't that be "Around the world in a couple of months"?

(watching TNG's "Contagion")

Good evening and happy Sunday.

At the start of this episode, the Enterprise was approached by the USS Yamato, a fellow Galaxy-class starship. The Yamato was named after the Japanese battleship which served as the flagship of the Japanese Navy in World War II.

I just got blocked for lack of empathy :)

cc:
Forgive my lack of empathy for a rich person with multiple homes during a housing crisis who has to pay exorbitant homeowner's insurance to live in a flood zone he chose to create with his local/state politics.

This is like a person with two homes who wants to live in the one in the desert complaining about the power cost of running the air conditioner.

I have empathy for the less fortunate. Not you.

Or people complaining about gas prices to fill their 9mpg behemo-SUVs and pickups.

A significant number of humans aren't great on nuance, let alone in written form.

As I recently heard it put, it's not that what the Nazis did to the Jews was either the largest or the first, it was that it was the first time it really showed what people would do to their neighbors if they had the permission and urging to do so.

Some autistic people find making phone calls extremely stressful and unpleasant and will avoid them at all costs.

Please don’t try and force your communication preferences on others.
