Talk about 2 ends of the spectrum - The "Way of the Warrior" is one of my favorite DS9 episodes.

"Shades of Gray" is my least favorite episode in the franchise (the dreaded "clip" show).

I should be able to make it for DS9 in a few minutes.

Yes, he does look very much like his father.

It's similar to Joanne Linville (Romulan Commander on TOS "The Enterprise Incident"). Her daughter cosplayed as her mother's famous character at cons as well as portrayed her in a "Star Trek Continues" episode). They look very alike as well.

The closing scene of this episode reminded me of "Conspiracy". Both were left open ended. While we never had a follow up for the latter episode, we had "Best of Both Worlds", "I, Borg", VOY, "First Contact", PIC and other stories which explored the Borg in greater detail.

I will be stepping away for a little while and hope to be back for VOY. If I'm not able to, have a nice weekend and until next time!

Q wanted to give Picard and the crew a preview of things to come. Little did we know that the Borg will become a major adversary in the franchise.

Btw, there was a reference in this episode to the TNG S1 finale "The Neutral Zone" which implied the Borg also attacked those outposts.

While this episode is known for being the debut of the Borg, it was also the debut of Ensign Sonya Gomez. We will see her again on TNG as well as on Lower Decks where we find out she is Captain Gomez. On Lower Decks, she mentioned the beverage spilling incident with Picard from this episode.

This episode reminds me of the "Is the crew member imagining things?"" sub-genre of story. A couple of examples are ENT's "Vanishing Point" with Hoshi and "Doctor's Orders" with Phlox.

VOY also had a similar episode with Seven.
