For some. Some would ultimately quit and some would never start.

Democratic voters want to see the guilty punished, even if they are Democrats. That’s where the two parties differ.

atlasraven31 ,

A coy Whataboutism

atlasraven31 ,

It’s possible, I suppose. A plague of locusts is a classic and far more likely cause of destruction.

atlasraven31 ,

I’m no locust expert so I accept this explanation.

atlasraven31 ,

I respectfully disagree for rare cases. Some people are just plain evil, according to modern sensibilities.

Whats your favorite Star Trek season?

Not to be confused with favorite series. I think my favorite season is ENT sesson 4, which is funny because the series overall is def on the weaker end of the spectrum, and i dont think any particular episode of the fourth season is Star Treks very best, its just the season that has more good than bad episodes of any season of...

Babylon 5: Season 5…oh, whoops 😏

Voyager season 4

atlasraven31 ,

Wasn’t he held captive of that planet of women that wanted to snoo snoo him to death? And teleported long distance with an alien woman to see a sunrise? And had Seven basically throw herself on top of him?

atlasraven31 ,

I don’t think anyone could stop Janeway breaking the Temporal Prime directive, not even Starfleet time cops.

atlasraven31 ,

The beginning is amazing and exciting, especially Tom spilling his guts arguing to Janeway to make the test flight.

Which season should I start on?

Hello, so I’ve been watching and enjoying this community. I remember watching various different seasons/generations as a child and I liked them. I’m sure there is a lot I missed and figured I need a new hyperfixation. As an adult I’ve only watched the original series when it was on Netflix. I remember a lot of Picard, and...

atlasraven31 ,

TNG is classic but start with the intro you like the most. I would avoid the new Picard series until you’ve watched at least some of TNG and Voyager.

atlasraven31 ,

The Transporter would have amazing medical application: removing disease/cancer, removing shrapnel/assimilation, buffering critically injured crewmen. Not to mention accidents like duplication.

Why doesn't Starfleet just employ more Borg cubes when fighting Borg?

Seriously, with the devastating defeat to the Borg and the Borg uni-matrix, you would have thought that Voyager would have took home some extras cubes, or at least Spheres or Probes as souvenirs. The Borg wouldn’t of noticed that those ships weren’t Borg, and Starfleet would have gotten some killer Victory Royales against...

atlasraven31 ,

I’m sure she would explain how efficient that is.

atlasraven31 ,

Try a matress pad. It’s cheaper and less hassle.

atlasraven31 ,

Electricity generated per step to light up clothes. They’d also make super loud horseshoes and super quiet ones for status reasons. If we get to change our legs, I would like reverse jointed fully robotic legs like an AT-ST.

Reddit became hypersensitive... goodbye

After 10 years and a few hundred thousand karma made a comment in r/europe that got me banned… in a discussion about AfD (a far, far right German party that has neo-Nazis as members) I made the mistake of saying “Guess we didn’t drop enough bombs on Dresden” (since much of the support for AfD is from the east)… got...

Or that people living in block housing is preferable to some living in suburbs and some being homeless.

atlasraven31 ,

I’m for that. Hell, I would just like small tiny home communities without state government trying to restrict it. Block apartments are fine for many people (newly graduated, small families, and independent elders).

We all know Russia is behind the genocide. Comrade Krause just sinks to a new low.

atlasraven31 ,

You could get an Odroid H3+ for a lot cheaper.

Twitter is a service that actively pushes you toward the exit. Mastodon is a much better alternative.

atlasraven31 ,

I feel for you. I have shitty neighbors too.

Sounds like something a smart person would say.

What can we do to re-shape society for the better?

If top of the society is immoral psychopaths with power, and most of the society is composed of people with good intentions, then there is not much hope for “beta uprising” until things go way beyond point of recovery, because powerful psychopaths will not let their power get taken away....

atlasraven31 ,

Have y’ll tried letting the smart people make decisions?

Elon’s Twitter is the most flagrant in recent memory. Chiquita used to be the poster child for corporate greed. Temu is supposedly using slavery to make goods.

A kidney stone. Small but oh so much internal damage. I would say law enforcement 2% pepper spray is the most painful non-damaging event I have experienced.

There was some speculation that humans are good at throwing rocks specifically for hunting rabbits before tool development. The sling made it even easier.
