Why is tech particular vulnerable to high interest rates?

Steeve ,

Dropbox isn’t some tech bro startup anymore…

Steeve ,

Can’t help but feel like most of what’s posted here is like the “old man yells at cloud” meme lol. Short form video is huge, people love it, young adults spend a ton of time on it, and most importantly it’s profitable.

But I get it, us millenials were the primary demographic on the internet for a long time, it’s a weird shift to see things that don’t cater to us pop up.

Steeve ,

I would argue that short video clips on a video streaming service actually makes a lot of sense…

Steeve ,

You can do whatever you want my dude, I’m not the thought police

Steeve ,

I don’t know, maybe funny clips? Notable moments from stream? You know, that clip functionality that Twitch has had for years that allows sharing short clips from the stream?

I’m starting to think you guys have never actually used the platforms you’re complaining about lol.

Steeve ,

Shit, covers blown!

Steeve ,

Bears have predicted 100 of the last 3 market crashes

Steeve ,

That means you were born at the right time to become a YouTube star, so that’s on you OP

Steeve , (edited )

Same as it ever was

I’m actually willing to bet that people are more informed in general these days because of social media and the internet in general. Look at all the biased bullshit in the news, back before the internet you just had to believe whatever content you were being fed, something we still have to deal with for sure, but at least being slapped with propaganda from all sides is starting to make us suspicious of content in general.

Steeve ,

Yeah I mean instead you just had an entire country pretty much unanimously vote for Reagan economics that we’re still feeling the brutal affects of today while the dissenting voices were just entirely unheard.

People are louder, they aren’t stupider.

Steeve ,

Doesn’t that just show young people are informed to the point that American conservatives have to resort to general silliness and outrage to get their shitty base of mainly older generations to vote?

I think you’re confusing the loud minority for the majority

Steeve ,

Are they the majority? No, probably not.

No, hard stop. Not even fucking close. Your examples are confirmation bias.

nor a time where they’ve wielded so much power.

Do you not remember the Christian groups of the… 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s? They always have, you just weren’t informed via the internet about it.

Steeve ,

What? That was a direct response to your comment. I quoted you, “they” is from your comment lol. Try reading that again.

you just insisting they’re everything you pinkie promise they were.

Do you really think that I have to provide evidence to disprove bullshit anecdotal claims that were never proven in the first place? That’s not how discussion works.

Steeve ,

Lol what the fuck are you talking about? “They” in that context was the “millions of boys and young men” who see Andrew Tate as a role model. This is all from your comment. Haha are you finding it hard to keep track of your fragmented delusional arguments on the internet? Go back to complaining about “people these days” and how much smarter you were back in the day lol.

Steeve ,

Haha what? You quoted my response to your Andrew Tate nonsense and asked who “they” was. There was no “they” in the part of my comment you quoted, so “they” is from your comment. But sure, I’ll be a clown here, why not lmao.

Here’s your comment since you’re having trouble with the technological intricacies of the scroll bar:

"

No, hard stop. Not even fucking close.

Articulate the group of people you’re talking about then so we can actually discuss them, rather than you just insisting they’re everything you pinkie promise they were.

"

Steeve ,

“Kid”? What is this, early 2000s internet? Do you want to threaten to beat me up irl too? Fuck off dude, you’re irrelevant, stop acting like the world is ending because you could never figure out how to turn on a printer. The world wasn’t better when you were young, your shitty attitude is evidence of that.

Steeve ,

What tf sites are you usually on?

But seriously, which ones?

Steeve ,

What are you using; notepad?

(I don’t know what semicolons are for in English)

Steeve ,

The new release of GPT-4 searches Bing, reads the results, summarizes, and provides sources, so it’s easier to fact check than ever if you need to.

Steeve ,

Feels like it’s always been a buzzword for whatever someone doesn’t like right now

Steeve ,

IF THIS IS INTENTIONAL PUT AN UNDERSCORE BEFORE THE VARIABLE NAME YOU ABSOLUTE FUCKING MORON

Netflix to open branded retail stores for some reason (www.engadget.com)

Netflix to open branded retail stores for some reason::Netflix has decided to open a number of brick-and-mortar locations to sell items based on hit shows, offer dining and provide live events. There’s also going to be an obstacle course based on ‘Squid Game.’

Steeve ,

Based on your nostalgia, if you pulled an all-nighter at your age you’d be feeling it for a week!

Steeve , (edited )

It doesn’t even apply to software standards lol. It’s a dumb “playbook” probably made by some coked out Microsoft middle manager in the 00s that wasn’t even widely successfully used. Lemmy’s crappy example of it is Google “killing” an extensible messaging protocol, which is nonsense because they didn’t kill anything (you don’t “kill” a protocol), they extended it into a proprietary version. You know, because it’s extensible.

The only relevance “embrace, extend, extinguish” has in today’s society is as an excuse to spread FUD and ragebait on Lemmy.

Steeve ,

I think calling their lack of preparation for something that hasn’t happened in 50 years suspicious is a stretch, regardless of whether or not there was an anniversary.

Steeve ,

it was markedly reduced

I personally haven’t seen any actual evidence that it was intentionally reduced for the anniversary specifically. That would be more suspicious if you can provide proof.

Steeve ,

I’m not going to pretend like I know the ins and outs of Israeli military defense, but none of this sounds like damning evidence. I’m not as eager to jump straight to the “Bush did 9/11” equivalent.

Steeve ,

And get all those dozens of users reach! I like it here, but let’s not pretend we’re mainstream lol

Steeve ,

You’re on lemmy.world, both our instances are federated with Mastadon.

Steeve ,

As long as you know where it starts and where it ends you can just pop a new one there and let the old cable be absorbed into the rest

Steeve ,

You guys fine and/or jail people up to 12 months for smoking weed my guy

Steeve ,

Probably still bots, I’m the only real person on the internet

Steeve ,

Yolo, but ironically, but so often that I’m not sure I’m using it ironically anymore?

Steeve ,

Time to toilet train that kid

Steeve ,

People are probably thinking it’s like observability in quantum mechanics or some shit.

Lol I really don’t think anyone was thinking that

Steeve ,

I don’t think anyone other than this guy was thinking that

Steeve ,

They’re probably just vacating your area in general

You’re looking for blood you’ll never get unfortunately

Steeve ,

We’re a step away from posting minions memes around here

Steeve ,

Engineers striking for the cleaning staff? What? That’s not how it works

Steeve ,

Not how the writers strike went either, it’s ending and has nothing to do with the other IATSE contracts.
