Ever raise chicks? It’s very informative of what egglaying requires.

Keep in mind the animals that lay eggs have a type of body that can sit and incubate and often it requires both parents to sit.

Additionally sit- Incubating this way is super inefficient and means you have to sit in one place to keep a constant temperature as opposed to our current strapped on method which means the child is constantly incubated in an ideal environment leaving the parent free to do things like keep a job to support child/hunt for food.

It has the best means for survival as you don’t end up leaving your embryo to be snatched or crushed.

And usually if your holding a child you’re also supplying milk which means the parent only has to look after feeding themselves traditionally while supplying milk which is far more readily available vitamins for the baby.

If anything you have to be much more dedicated with your time and intention and worry to be an egg layer.

Smoogs ,

I’m pretty sure that’s ok. Now if it was someone’s underwear or hair…that is another story.

It’s making men infertile. theres even a shortage of viable sperm today around the world

Smoogs ,

for anyone working with acrylic paint, this stuff is plastic so it’s best not to just chuck it down your sink.

There is a way to filter the plastics jacksonsart.com/…/acrylic-painting-rinse-water-mi…

Trying out the golden crash system (though you can just buy buckets and elements yourself to do it cheaper) and it got some very good results.

Smoogs ,

You added flour(and fat) so this tends to stabilize the milk(it’s referred to as ‘roux’ in French). If the sauce was already thickened the milk will have less chance to curdle. Also if you’re cooking at a low temp it is better and if the milk is fresh and higher in fat it’s less likely to curdle.

Smoogs ,

this is an expensive hobby just FY

Oh yay, love hearing how more plastic is being produced and then discarded for no other reason than ‘a hobby’.

Smoogs , (edited )

You don’t know that I already haven’t so still not addressing the point about being less wasteful and just a lame attempt at diversion.

Smoogs ,

“Print needs ()”

Oh fuck off. years of code that cannot be easily redone in ANY editor. Whoever OCDd that into python 3 needs to have their asshole kicked up into their mouth.

Smoogs , (edited )

Not after 10 years of it not having brackets. And providing no editing ability to change it as a macro. That’s just cruel and inhumane and psychopathic.

Smoogs ,

If you developed it to not have brackets for the first one or two decades. Especially if there’s no possible way to easily edit it. You’re a psychopath to not consider this.

…So you’re not living in the house in which you pay rent? You’re paying for the landlord to live there?? Then where do you stay??? What is this logic??? It doesn’t make sense.

Smoogs ,

It might also get rid of the “I lost money” or call it theft if their stock plunges and then whine for bailouts for money they imagined they could have but never actually became theirs.

Smoogs , (edited )

In cancer world this is why patients are instructed to print in large letters “AMBULANCE” on an envelope pasted to their fridge. It informs anyone coming to their house to not resuscitate . So likewise it Should be on neighbour to inform everyone of his DNR before calling a lawyer or laying any blame. You have no ability to see his chart as a bystander. He should own that. Nothing was stopping him from going around and informing his neighbours to not try to resuscitate if he expected any less. And that is on him.

Smoogs ,

It’s on you for not telling anyone your intentions. Your decision. Your responsibility to make sure it’s adhered to. So start with informing people. Don’t get shocked that no one understands what you want without you telling them first. Own yourself.

Someone dumped her, soaking wet, in the lobby of a restaurant today

Someone just walked into the restaurant i work at, dumped this soaking wet kitten in the lobby, and left without saying a word. I just got a kitten this month, so i took her home with me since i have kitten supplies and everyone else at work has too many pets....

Smoogs ,

I can’t believe some people.

we don’t know backstory there. We don’t know if a human is at fault at all. possible a kitten got separated from the litter especially at that age. it could be a kitten from a stray with no human involvement at all.

A person walking by might not have the space or even has a severe allergy to cats so they took it immediately to the closest spot so the kitten wouldn’t die. This is Just a hunch like any other. It’s just that malice may not always be the back story. Some(one) isn’t always just someone who just won’t but can’t and isn’t even directly responsible for it. For all we now the person dropping it off could be an asshole or someone doing a kindness in and of itself to save a kitten even in a small way.

Assuming the worst serves nothing and it’s not a healthy way to expend your energy and it just polarizes with assumptions against the humans around us without basis and that’s a pretty unfair way to go at other likely innocent people.

Smoogs ,

First option probably just leave kitty in wherever it was and let it die. At least this way it has found a home. I think leaving the kitty to die would have been comparatively worse in the scenario we’re talking about.

Smoogs ,

Exactly. In all likeliness the restaurant was probably the closest open (warm) building in the area the kitten was found.

Smoogs ,

shelters are all full of cats and kittens across the area right now

how close are they to the restaurant? Would the person walking by foot have to have a vehicle to get the kitten to a shelter? Perhaps they haven’t transport. Perhaps they have a disability. Perhaps many reasons they can’t get to a shelter. If the shelter is right beside the restaurant, then yeah, the person wasn’t thinking. If not, they were probably trying to get kitten safe immediately especially if it’s wet and the restaurant could be the closest warm building to where the kitten was found. Not ideal but it is a possible scenario.

I’m glad either way the end result was she found a new home. Just hopefully we don’t have to assume malice is around every corner with other fellow humans.

Treasury recovers $1.3 billion in unpaid taxes from high-wealth tax dodgers (apnews.com)

The IRS has collected $1.3 billion from high-wealth tax dodgers since last fall, the agency announced Friday, crediting spending that has ramped up collection enforcement through President Joe Biden’s signature climate, health care and tax package signed into law in 2022....

Yes it’s funny how we assign a hairstyle to region

Smoogs ,

Doesn’t detract from space Karen’s incompetence.

Smoogs ,

Probably don’t have to say this but just in case: the condoms are expired. don’t try to use them.

Smoogs ,

eating Doritos with dorito dust all over fingers

Well….uh, ok?

Smoogs ,

But they could just do an X-ray of that. I would have thought other procedures such as tissue injuries would be what benefits from a procedure like this which would otherwise require an expensive follow-up

Smoogs ,

Sounds like someone forgot to put in your paper work. I’d follow it up if I were you.

Smoogs ,

Put the gun down, incel and get into some therapy. Srs. And stay away from women. Far far away. In fact maybe stay out of topics like this cuz they are clearly a trigger for you.

Smoogs ,

Now this is how you journal. Proper, succinct, on-point sentences that tell the story as it actually is.

Smoogs ,

Memes like this make me glad I only usd Linux at work. You don’t get this petty micromanaging shit between windows users.

Smoogs ,

I like just ‘feed’ the beast.

Fatten sounds like it’s chonking. And that is animal abuse

Drivers Hate The Tech In Their Cars (jalopnik.com)

It turns out that more technology in cars isn’t necessarily something customers want, and it’s not really improving their driving experience. We know my thoughts on the matter, but I’ll do my best to stay impartial on this latest survey from JD Power that shows most customers don’t appreciate technology in cars unless...

Smoogs ,

I can’t believe how much more money such a faulty feature costs too.

Smoogs ,

look at the original poster boy of incel: Roger Elliot. he was physically attractive, well groomed, from decent money, clearly looked after himself but was one of the most unattractive personalities and complained he was constantly rejected.

You can still be well groomed and the biggest incel. that’s often their complaint against women. They are relying on getting by on looks alone and then complain about getting nothing because they overlooked women are deeper than that. They don’t wanna work on themselves. Easier to blame the women or society or feminism etc.

There are plenty of men who don’t even have half the physical attractiveness of Roger Elliot and far more well adjusted.

Smoogs ,

it seems to me the same thing that happened to Boeing need to happen to Disney when they tried to write off any culpability to human life when they tried to put a monetary value on it to their own benefit.

Also that policies in contracts will be null and void if a company tries to write any such thing into their contracts in future. Which sadly this needs to be a law.

Smoogs ,

“Be evil so they have to stomp us out” shouldn’t be a standard. Stop allowing a world that rewards villains. Stop being a villain.

Smoogs ,

Speak for yourself, snowflake. The world isn’t a safe place for shitheads to be shitheads. Culpability doesn’t make you a victim.

Smoogs ,

Yeah anon sounds like he’s fallen into the ‘what is masculinity’ trap of trying to fulfill all goals he’s told by other men to do or an idea of men and doesn’t understand why he himself is unfulfilled. He only knows the idea of man and never became his own friend enough to understand what might make his self more satisfied. This is why many if the happiest people have simple things they are happy about. They don’t fall for the money = happiness trap or other stupid roles that society brainwashes into people. The main complication is just getting comfortable enough with self to speak ‘hey maybe gardening/cooking is my thing’ or whatever. We’re taught to over complicate our happiness.

Smoogs ,

And the only people I see defend this turd are always white, privileged, male and super delusional about their status.

Smoogs , (edited )

-Life is too short for bad coffee, bad wine, bad shoes and bad people.

-spend the required money in a good bed and a good chair. When it comes down to it later, it is not negotiable for your back.

-you will have to have a lawyer involved sometimes such as drafting up a will. It’s worth it. Also: do your will and sort out your stuff even if you haven’t been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

-clean like you’re moving house once a year. Cut down on the hoarding.

-‘no’ Is a complete sentence.

-sometimes acceptance of a situation is what it is is the only closure you’re ever going to get.

-acknowledge your stuff <—//—> other people’s stuff. Others might not work on their own stuff but they aren’t your job.

-resentment isn’t always something someone gives you nor is it the reality of the situation. Sometimes a person invites it along. Eg: assuming such things as someone being late to dinner is a personalized slight to your energy and time.

-try not to confuse misunderstanding with malice.

-remember the good ones. It’s so easy to just count the nasty people in your life and have them as your comparison for things. Spending your energy this way overlooks all the good people in your life and that’s not fair to them and the effort they put in with you.

Smoogs ,

Until they leave you and find someone else who is ready to commit.

Sometimes if you expect the worst; you make the worst. Get out of your own way.

Smoogs ,

Someone willing to put up with your shit and commit to you is a bullet to be dodged? Mmmk…

Smoogs ,

You talk about commitment but OP didn’t.

Smoogs ,

So you only count anecdotal evidence that ensures your paranoia about people and apply it to every situation. K.

Smoogs ,

Well you certainly don’t that applies for everyone. And for all I know you, you could be super negative, project the worst scenarios only and/or you could be the problem in all your relationships and this is the excuse you landed on for maintaining a delusion.

You could be lying about having a wife just so you can ‘win’ an argument online with a total stranger online.

Not a far reach considering your response here.

Smoogs ,

Ditto. As far as bad faith; i nailed you.

Smoogs ,

Reproduction is not nor has it ever been proven as a core mission of life and shouldn’t exist in that list. It has nothing to do with your core basis of life. It’s only to continue a life line or a cell decision reliant on environment. But it is not a core requirement in life.

It may be continuing a line but it is not proven as a core ‘mission’ of anything. It’s a bias decision and much of that relies on environment in which the cell lives in. It’s as much a ‘core mission’ as the effort of immortality should an environmental condition not be met. Some species continue their strain of life by cloning and some if even just one has achieved immortality and has no necessary core mission to reproduce.

Smoogs ,

sterile environments make people allergic.

Where’s your science in this?

No allergist or dermatologist I ever met would ever make that claim.

The results are from patient to patient. There’s a whole subset of sensitivities to chemical makeup of the food and another set of sensitivities to the environment the food was grown in. Food and products have dramatically changed and this also creates a lot of reactions. Mass production of food introduced a lot of irritants which we notice now. Then you have a subset of sensitivities that are entirely based on changes in the body with hormone. And then there’s family history.

There isn’t a standard answer with allergies.
