Surprisingly this isnt actually needed. It makes it easier to setup, but isnt required beyond that (and some bios need one plugged in to boot but that won’t be an issue).

My current setup is 2 nvidias both passed through to separate VMS, then I just use another PC to access the web console. My ideal setup would be a VM that launches itself when none else are running, to allow a graphical output even with the host headless

Sorta this but more so the crackers release essentially a bunch of files and folders that runs the game, someone like fitgirl can take a bunch of the files and rrpack them in a smaller, compressed format. This quickly became popular for people with bad connection, as download size is small; and also for archivalists, who don’t need to install/unpack the game, just want to keep it as efficiently as possible

That pixel’s example is so funny cause its suprisingly the most open boooader out there, so almost no devices but the pixel are used for full custom OS’ like grapheneOS.

But to answer your question, a lot of the beauty of Linux is it runs on anything, so if you already had one lying around, you could just slab Debian or something on it and it’ll be snappier than ever.

I also personally like the form factor of the device and the removable keyboard

If the device can self repair behind the scenes, 100% most users couldnt care less about an error message or having to reboot, as long as not too often and requiring too much input. I can see why linux is excellent for servers requiring little to no downtime though

In a perfect democracy perhaps, but in the world we live in the power is in the hands of very few. Id also argue there’s too much noise using it to represent unnecessary pollution, as a single person running a generator in antartica would be horrible per capita - but quite so necessary. Larger populations have the benefit of larger systems, thereby operating more efficiently. A country could also reasonably just triple their population to increase their pollution “quota”, cause money - and a system that can be that manipulated isnt that reasonable of a system.

Looking directly at pollution on the other hand is more like looking directly at what causes the problem (climate change), and minimizing centralized sources of it would have a much more noticable effect. Especially those that have a greater population to landmass ratio (thereby having less untouched human areas) and so less so a positive effect on greenhouse gas removal.

Whoops shoulda been a little more specific, I meant because most gas based generators arent nearly efficient as coal based plants (which aint as efficient as nuclear…) in terms of emissions to energy. That added on the fact that they’re probably not designed for sub zero temps and you end up with a horrible per capita (probably, I don’t have any actual numbers to back this up).

Tbh I’ve spend time thinking on this, and realistically the only solution I could find is through mathematical optimization - describing it through and example, we’ve definetly killed hundreds of Einstein’s in Africa simply working for the west - we have the ability to provide food to every single person in the world, and certainly the technology to educate them.

If we simply offered everyone an equal chance to learn, and the ability to focus on “thinking”, instead of starvation, bills, poverty etc. naturally the best would rise to the top and statistically we’d have insanely better odds of finding smart people than the essentially lottery we got going on now. (Look at yee old days, population directly correlates with technological innovation, never one person being “built different” )

In our current society you can see this isnt happening everywhere, everyone knows you got to ‘know someone’ to rise to the top. A great example of being the film infustry; well known actors are somehow able to pop out amazing acting children, entirely uncorrelated to their connections right?

Musk is a beautiful example of this, cause he can hardly stop himself bursting at the seems with cockyness - and he was risen like he was gods child, so understandably he believes that, but he’s simply hooked on the dopamine rush he gets from making obsene amounts of money, soley because the exponential growth of ones wealth (and take a wild guess at how hr got anywhere with PayPal; hint hint it’s genetic). I honestly see him as no better than a common crack addict, but for some reason we decided he should have the power of a small country, certainly a dangerous thing in an addicts hands.

Personally I’m still on x11, and have had no issues big with the Nvidia drivers.

The only things are minor annoyances that come with the system being proprietary, ex. Driverctl entirely freezes up when trying to use on a Nvidia driver, and the driver won’t let you live pass through a GPU like nouveau does (supposedly, it’s too buggy so I’ve never been able to try)
