locally encrypt your files then upload them on drive

Its not going to have the amount of features GTA5 has. But I asume the engine will be more powerful for them to add more impressive stuff down the line.

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Idk about RDR2 but for GTA, GTA5 is the first one they invested so much time after the initial release.

In my perspective, the title and your first sentance are not the same thing. Each person lives for something but it is not limited to their career, friend or love life. And so, it can be literally at any age, from 0 to infinity.

Best way to backup files

I have about 500GB of data (photos, documents, videos etc.) that I have accumulated over the years. Currently, I keep them on my computer and rsync all additions / changes once a month or so to an external hard drive. Do I need to be worried about data loss (sectors going bad, bit rot, bit flip, whatever it is called)?...

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

I recommend encrypting them locally and backup the encrypted copy on a cloud drive.

I also currently use it with Syncthing and it works but I was looking in some alternatives to maybe minimize the amount of apps I use.

Dead Posey I think needs more awareness.

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Cuz based on the type of accidents, it probably wouldn’t make sense. It is just adding extra cost.

It is a tool, use it when it fits. Use both where they fit.

Yes but I don’t wake cheerfully. It is always a debate if I shoud fuck up my sleep or be fucked by my work place.

RovingFox OP ,

Mainly first, would be nice if both.

In a trains station gave someone enough money for a ticket cuz he was claiming that he lost his train. Felt real stupid when I saw him the next day asking the same shit.

Probably not homeless, pretty well dressed, that was probably his day job.

nice! whats the name of the terminal music player?

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

My question is who comes up with these names?? Is there a commission I was never invited?

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Nice! the btop should be transparent to have as a background the terminal color.

takes me less then 20 sec to write to you

My girfriend will text me when I am doing something noisy and she doesn’t want to get out of bed.

Little things like this matter. I would work from home doing something that need my focus and get a sms that the courier is close. I need my focus to finish tasks fast so I will send a message to someone who should be more available.

It is not lazy or lacking respect. Sometimes it is more efficient and confortable for anyone involved.

My man, I just installed Mint and nvchad was on my list.

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

of what to install after distro hoping

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

I recommend using Obtainium. It is not a store by himself but it is compatible with a lot of stores including github.

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

didn’t say it was, and that wasn’t even the point

RovingFox ,

simplicity, there is a comfort from not having to position windows for mutitasking

RovingFox ,

Not really, the benefits outweigh the consequences.

For me it is not about supporting/agreeing with Ukraine. It is about Russia starting a war because they want to. I live a country close to the war, I don’t want Russian occupation or proximity.

RovingFox ,

Where I live they have promotions and there is no tipping culture. The price is sometimes lower then going in person.

At 25 its when my fun started. It wasn’t even planned, we were supposed to have a drink off. Queue 4 years of relationship.

Cross platform terminal emulator?

Is Termius the only cross platform emulator that includes Android as one of the platforms? It is quite good, in my limited experience, but too expensive for a hobbiest. I like that I can use my Linux desktop, MacOS laptop, and Android tablet/phone and the UX is the same across them all. The sync (trial for free, then charge) is...

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

No personal experience but if I were to try I would start with Syncthing and probably synchronize config files and aliases.

For me it is a balance. Getting the achievement the correct way feels nice, but I am also aware that if the achievement is too dificult to get I might lose interest in the game. Add to this the fact that achievements are in fact made by human beings that are flawed by nature and could make them unfair, I refuse to compensate for bad design with my own time and attention.

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

Human labor is generally more expensive. Ai is generally cheaper. My funds are limited. Guess which one I will pick.

I am not saying one is better then the other. Both have advantages.

Is your phone hand assembled? Are your cloths hand made? The planks from your bed are cut into shape by a human? Machine labor is generally cheaper and we all have to cut costs somewhere.

Romania you pay taxes from your salary or if you are a student then you are automatically covered. To access specialists you need a piece of paper from your designated doctor that confirms from him/her that you need a specialist.

The reality tho is that the state of the medical system is bad. Understaffed and equipment older then 40+ years.

What I would personally do is buy a device that can connected to wifi and hotspot at the same time. This can be a raspberry pi or a wifi router range extender.

I would set the name and MAC address to match a device that is constantly connected, a smart TV or Alexa maybe.

Then I would use this device connect to the internet.

Everything works as usual and for those who monitor the network via Router settings, nothing looks different.

Have fun pulling risky moves and maybe also learn something out of it.

RovingFox ,
@RovingFox@infosec.pub avatar

I think you are missing my point. The “pretending” device connects to router, while the “original” device connects to the pretending device. The 2 interfaces that share the same MAC don’t connect to the same network.

The user also conncets to the pretending device. to hide their access to the router.

I just try to follow my passion, which in 70℅ is computers. I “waste” plenty of time with activities that are not productive, but when the obsession hits, I’ll spend weeks in coding or leaning a new skill. Personal development involves time you just fool around with your hobby.

Lmao, typing from phone keyboard and found the wrong symbol. Didn’t even know this existed.

Why does everyone make such a fuss about privacy?

In the context of VPNs for example. Some VPNs store and provide information about what sites you go to third parties. Third parties analyze it and figure out what adds to show you. Hmm… then let them show me those adds they want to show me. I do hate adds as a whole and use an add blocker, thus. But I couldn’t care less what...

Selling bad products to customers is about finding just the right amount of inconvenience for the customer. You never know what information about you can be used by an AI model to pinpoint your threshold. I would like not to be used in a borderline consumer herding.
