Nobody likes a sucker, especially the kind that fall for fruit tarts like you. I knew there was trouble. I could smell it on the hot evening breeze. Fortunately for me, trouble is my favorite thing… Because I’m Joe Milkshake. I kicked down the door with one swift, decisive motion.

Iceland's minister for the Environment mandates gender neutral toilets (grapevine.is)

Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson, the Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources of Iceland, has announced a new regulation that requires toilets to be labelled based on facilities rather than gender. This change follows a query from Andrés Ingi Jónsson, a Pirate Party MP who has been advocating for the issue since 2020....

How did I know you are going to point that out. So smart.

Here is the part of the comment above you, that you disagreed with:

In Germany most men sit to pee most of the time.

Emphasis in bold courtesy of mine to help with reading comprehension to what comes next, namely the quote from the link I gave you:

Of all 13 countries, Germany was the one where most men sat down “every time” to urinate (40%). Add those who do so “most times” (22%), and you get the result shown on the map.

40 + 22 is 62. Which is most men.

So. Is there a good way to isolate and harvest microplastics from …anything? Because the problem with microplastics is that they are practically everywhere by now and you’d probably like to get them out from everywhere.

Yeah well, didn’t it come out long time already that the company who does this just wants you to quit, so they don’t have to fire you. Another exploitation of workers.

Fantastic to have more selection! I love Findroid but its good to have alternatives!

Edit: downloaded it from Github but cannot connect to my server with same credentials I use in the official app, hm.

Edit2: OK, others have same issue github.com/fredrikburmester/streamyfin/issues/12

Edit3: they just released a fix

fix(android): Support for un-secure plaintext authentication (HTTP) logins

So I will test it again tonight when I have time.

Nah, the icon looks like some ai-generated garbage, too much detail for such a small size.

But as a first icon, whatever works, I am not complaining! Good to have another app on android for Jellyfin!

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Once it works, sure. Will need to wait for a fix first.

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

My server isn’t exposed to the outside. I am connecting through local WiFi. If someone manages to get in there I probably have bigger problems than access to my Jellyfin.

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

OK, it works now so I had a look.

At this stage no match for Findroid, but I like the layout of it.

When you play a file it somehow starts playing minimised and you need to tap it it goes full screen.

No automatic rotation, so you need to do it manually.

Haven’t tried the downloading yet and I have no Chromecast to test casting with.

In a couple of updates it might be decent enough already for general use.

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I dislike how it looks. I don’t care it’s there. That’s not complaining. I don’t need this changed. It’s just ugly in my view.

Please help me stop my baby from crying because kodi keeps buffering

The toddler loves having Kodi full of all their faves but I haven’t been able to iron out all the buffering I’m getting streaming from my mini-pc NFS mounted shares to the pi4 libreelec hooked up via Ethernet in the living room. Everything is wired, so I wouldn’t think that would be an issue but here I am about to put down...

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Haven’t used Kodi but am running Jellyfin via the official docker image on a Raspberry Pi 4. Even there transcoding works reasonably well for one user at a time, admittedly didn’t try with several users at the same time so far.

Just mentioning the docker image because I used to install it without docker directly via the repository and I never got transcoding to work on the same hardware.

I get what you mean, but the decision to cut those trees has not been made by the ones cutting them down. The higher-ups probably won’t care much about injuries of their loggers, other than that it impacts their profits.

It is good those guys fight back, of course.

JD Vance briskly marched up to Air Force 2, Kamala Harris’ plane, planning to give political reporters a show as he confronted the vice president uninvited on Wednesday. At her teeth cleaning, they did an X-ray. She paid for none of it. “They really go above and beyond,” she says.

No, they really don’t. This should be normal. Then again, dental care is privatised in a lot of countries who otherwise have “free” healthcare, so in a way a lot of people are in the same boat as Americans. Ever since I moved to a country where I have to pay for every dental treatment I find myself distrusting the dentists opinion if that procedure really is necessary or not. They profit directly from it, why not add some stuff that’s not needed? Considering how important your teeth are for your quality of life, I hate to be in that situation.

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

It is a bit weird to pick Sweden for that example because you do have to pay for dental care yourself too. There are some subsidies of course, but it isn’t abnormal to pay the equivalent of 100 EUR for a visit, even if its just to clean teeth from toothstone.

I got scammed a few times when the hygienist or dentist just told me they really need to show me how to properly brush and then I get charged another 50 EUR just for that. Without them telling me beforehand that this will cost extra.

Unless you are under 18 (or under 25?), then it is free at least. But really it should be free for all under general healthcare.

Source: me, I live here and its the example I used in my comment above.

Trump holds seemingly pointless press conference filled with false claims (www.independent.co.uk)

RootBeerGuy ,

No plans now.

Let’s just float the idea again in a few years and see how much backlash it then produces…

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

I don’t doubt it is on the rise again but the percentage is probably high because the total number of tests is quite low. There is no blanket testing done anymore, I would assume most tests are being done when you suspect you might have something, so its only logical the percentage is higher than it used to be.

RootBeerGuy ,
@RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Maybe blanket-testing is calling it a bit more than what it was but there were countries that required negative tests for certain things, e.g. entering stores or swimming pools. You had to show a negative test no matter if you had symptoms or not, and that result was registered centrally.
