Try a waterpik, or just go easier on yourself. Also grandma is right, flossing is really good for you and will improve your oral health a lot. I floss basically after every time I eat, it's just automatic and feels so good to have clean teeth

What made you choose your instance?

Following the spirit of spreading across the Fediverse (and because my main instance is down so many times, because diverse reasons) I’m intrigued about the joining instance process, because I honestly don’t know what criteria to have in order to join another one if I ever want to do it....

I just liked the vibe and name of Kbin. It reminded me of Kerbin, the home planet in Kerbal Space Program.

I later learned it might be the Polish word for magazine. The "subreddits" here are called magazines, but it could also mean like gun magazine. The latter of which I don't really care for (especially as a US user), but in the end, I don't really gaf. It's just a chill place to hang out.

Maybe it'll help as long as the fine is some % of their net income. Sweden does this, speeding tickets are a % of your income instead of a fixed fine, so someone with $10MM will still feel the burn.

Is there a way to prevent mixed cereals from separating?

I quite enjoy cereals that have a range of different ingredients - like oat clusters with freeze dried strawberry or museli with almonds and raisins. Over time though, the oats rise to the top and the smaller bits get trapped at the bottom so when you’re near the end of the packet it’s 70% dust....

Can I use my current intel-based SSD on a new AMD machine?

I am currently running Fedora 38 on an old Intel Mac Mini. It’s time to upgrade to a new computer. I’d like to keep the hard drive (SSD) and just put it into the new machine. To do this, would I have to stick with intel for my new machine or would it also be possible to put the SSD into an AMD machine and have everything...

Either way, make sure you have backups (3-2-1 backups if possible) before swapping the hardware. If it fails to boot and there is some change to the drive contents during boot, putting it back in the original system isn't guaranteed to work.

I don't use Linux at work (I wish I did), but I default to Ubuntu Server for at-home Docker needs. I might switch to plain Debian at some point.

Thanks, I'll check it out! I honestly run into disk space issues with Ubuntu Server a lot. I'll give it a partition and it will fill up with this opaque "ubuntu--vg-ubuntu--lv" volume pretty quickly.

Here's a df -h on it right now:

Need to manually prune Docker and run other admin tasks to keep it under control.

You can only do so much. Life was set up this way for us by countless generations before us. You can reduce your energy requirements, reduce/reuse/recycle, but it will only help so much at the individual level. Never stop trying. Never stop trying to convince your friends and family to reduce their footprint. I bug my SO every time they put something recyclable in the trash or they buy something we don't need.

But the world is burning because of greed and we can't individually put an end to that. Live your life, do what you can, share love. It's the best we can do right now.

You'd have to be somewhere in the route from A to B to intercept it. But TCP is no different in that regard.

TCP is connection based so both sides need to agree to connect before data is exchanged. UDP is connectionless, so it will send data from A to B (and vice versa) regardless of if the other side is available.

I feel the same way. My current BoTW save has a bunch of semi-unique or rare weapons in my inventory and I don't have any more slots. Whenever I want to fight something now I have to ask myself "which thing should I break and never get back?"

Oh some basic mobs to clear? Oh well, all I have are these super high damage weapons. It discourages me from getting into fights because I feel like my weapons aren't balanced for the enemies at hand, I gotta save them for tougher fights.

Do you ever season directly into a hot pan or boiling water? The steam gets into the container and causes clumping.

Solution: season into your hand first, then add to the dish.

I like kbin a lot already too. I like the highly functional feel. It's close enough to Reddit that I hope it draws in more users. I found it a lot more approachable than Mastodon, and "Lemmy" just doesn't have a nice ring to it IMO.
