I call myself cis male. What delicate fucking snowflakes.

EDIT: I want to provide some more information. I am a straight cis male. Straight is my sexual preference, cis gendered in my gender identity, and male is my biological sex as assigned at birth. I was first called cis male by a lesbian friend in a relationship with a trans-masculine lesbian (I think…s/he was a life long butch lesbian who began to transition socially after we met.) My friend described to me what cis meant and I said, “Ya, that describes me.” I have a pair of trans women friends (one post-op and one who will never get the surgery.) I have a pair of gay friends, one who had always known that he was gay and one who was closeted his whole life, married, kids, and came out in his 50s. I had known him for 25 years and never thought about whether he was straight or gay. In my social circle, intellectual and liberal, it is handy to be able to let people know a bit about me in a few words. I’ve embraced “cis” because I don’t think that I am superior because I am what I am. The people who are offended by being called “cis” are the ones who have sneered labels at others. I haven’t done that. I also find it handy in social situations to be able to say I’m interested in straight or bi cis women.

I could not care less who you love, who you want to have sex with, how you present yourself, how you want to be addressed, etc. I have my preference but that’s just me.

I’m on Ozempic. I eat way less. Many restaurants offer portion sizes that are far, far too big for a person NOT on weight loss drugs let alone one who is. I often ask for a half or a quarter portion because I don’t want to waste the rest of the food. I always say I will pay full price but I don’t want all the food. Some restaurants give me a break on the price. Others don’t. When you’re faced with such huge portions it’s just easier to avoid restaurants.

There are some very rare possible serious side effects. I’m not sure what the numbers are. No one is being forced to take it.

MapleEngineer , (edited )
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.world avatar

You’re free to choose not to take it.

MapleEngineer ,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.world avatar

It’s not a fun side effect.

MapleEngineer ,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.world avatar

I do when I go to a restaurant close to home. I travel for work and can’t take leftovers back to my hotel most of the time. I’ve found that most restaurants are good about cutting portion sizes and that sometimes when I ask for half because I can’t eat a whole portion but offer to pay full price they will give me a break.

The US medical system is grotesque.

I am taking Ozempic, Metformin, and Jardiance but I live in a civilized country where my doctor makes the decisions about what drugs I am taking and talks to me about his recommendations before prescribing.

Don’t use biometrics.

Period.

Full stop.

MapleEngineer ,

I love the confidence that a US cop or CBP agent are going to allow you to lock your phone while they’re asking you to hand it to them.

Biometrics is not security. Biometrics is ease of access. It’s literally designed to make your phone easier to access for you and by extension for a low skilled strong arm attacker or jack booted neo-fascist police state cop or border agent, a high skilled hacker, or a nation state actor. If your intention is to make your device easy to access, congratulations, biometrics is the right choice.

MapleEngineer ,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.world avatar

Did you read the article? US police and CBP can point your phone at your face or force your finger onto the scanner to unlock your device against your will.

They’re so ignorant that they thought that the eclipse was global and believed that it was the beginning of the biblical 3 days of total darkness that signaled the end of the world. They are so fucking horny for the end of the world and their presumed admission to heaven that they see the end everywhere and are actively trying to bring it about. That’s why they want to start a race war, and a war with Russia, and… they’re trying to CAUSE the end of the world so that they can go to heaven.

That any of those people believe that they are Christians when they don’t follow the letter and spirit of the teachings of Jesus Christ is utterly baffling.

Among other things, members and supporters of the group allegedly planned to sail a ship into Russian territorial waters and make contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

They had hoped for military and political support from Putin in the founding of a new state, according to the Hamburg public prosecutor’s office.

When you develop your collective fantasies in an echo bunker with no one to say, “Do you think that actually happen? What if he says, ‘No’? What if you get caught?” they grow and become more and more ludicrous.

Having banned the use of the phrase, “climate change” in state laws Florida will next ban the public use of the word, “hurricane” and it’s plural and derivatives along with words and phrases such as, "typhoon " and, “tropical storm” and will change the words of the state anthem to, “LALALALALA! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!”

Governor DeSantis was quoted as saying, “If we can convince the Trumpists rubes to shove their heads far enough up their own asses they may not notice the death and destruction while we rake in the final billions in political contributions before Florida slips into the ocean.”

These christofascist end of days assholes are trying to bring about the end of days. They believe that they can start a race war or a war between progressives and regressives or Russia and NATO to trigger it. They would kill a lot of people to bring their salvation fantasy to life.

I plateaued in the low 220s for a month or so then the weight fell off me to the low 200s. I’m creeping down now at about half a pound per week. My ultimate goal was to get to 200 lbs but I’m now thinking that I may go to 190 lbs since the weight is continuing to come off. I don’t want to go lower than that. I don’t want to be a thin person. I just want to be less fat.

MapleEngineer ,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.world avatar

I’m on 1mg off Ozempic. Wegovy isn’t approved in Canada. There are typical weight loss numbers but I’ve really leaned in to the Ozempic and have done very well.

MapleEngineer , (edited )
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.world avatar

Ok…so not available…so how is it that you think I must be on Wegovy?

What defect of personality is it that makes you think is appropriate to tell a complete stranger that they are mistaken about the drug that they are taking (have been taking for eight months, and took last night before bed), about the dose (Ozempic is only available as 1mg), or that they have lost too much weight?

Seriously, what is wrong with you. Have you considered seeking professional help?

I started out at 283. I got an to 265 then my doctor started me on Ozempic. I’m not some lazy fuck who just lies around waiting for the drug to make me thin. I’ve dramatically changed my eating habits and I live an active lifestyle for someone my age and weight. I leaned into the drug and did better than most people. (Look up the medical definition of “typical”.)

It was the extra inch and a half of penis that triggered you, wasn’t it? Sorry, dude. Not everyone is cutout for porn.

MapleEngineer ,
@MapleEngineer@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t pay a penny for Ozempic. My insurance covers the entire cost with no deductible. It’s cheaper to have me lighter and healthy than it is to have me fat and diabetic with high blood pressure or dead. The $650 is what my pharmacist told me that it cost without insurance. I don’t know if that’s true and I honestly don’t care.

I suspect that the people who are failing on Ozempic expected it to be a miracle drug that suddenly and effortlessly made them skinny. That isn’t me. I worked hard to get to where I am and I’m still working hard. I’m the lightest I’ve been since my late teens at 201 lbs as of 5 minutes ago.
