I’m well aware of the economic factors at play driving scammers from India and Nigeria to do their thing. I am trying to bring attention to the white European scam phone banks that don’t have the same reputation, your Bulgarian and Romanian and Latvian scammers, Russian, etc. There are also scam call centers in the good ol USA. It’s definitely not just restricted to the two developing nations with a large number of English speakers and few opportunities that are blamed for it.

In the $60 USD range I had been looking at the Krups Precision (also EvilCorp link) a.co/d/iHgMfnp or the Cuisinart a.co/d/eqAxbD3 which are both that price and pretty well rated. I just need to upgrade from a blade grinder, it’s making all my efforts at making a consistent cup moot.

The SD40 espressooutlet.net/turin-sd40-v2-single-dose-low-… looks cool too but I also don’t have an espresso machine and am planning on mostly grinding for drip coffee for my partner and V60 for me. What did you not like about your Solis? I am looking at a Solis Scala Zero for half the price right now, it seems good. EvilCorp link but I am pretty sure it’s shipped and sold by Seattle Coffee Gear which is local a.co/d/bVhSGyJ.

Right on. I have seen a lot of people on YouTube preferring the AliExpress grinder the Turín/Itop/MiiCoffee SD40 over Encore and the Fellow Opus but IDK about the Ode. But I also think they might be selling those grinders and maybe make a higher margin on them vs. reselling Baratza or Fellow products. I’m weirded out by AliExpress brands sometimes though because it’s easy to buy from another seller copying the original seller with an inferior product. I’m kinda thinking of maybe getting the Solis Scala Zero just because it’s cheaper at $100.

Amazon is definitely a supervillanous outfit. I hear you re: static. If you think the grind is equal then I might get the “zero static” Solis with an ion generator, or maybe order an SK40 directly off AliExpress. www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803648778389.html?spm=… to save a few bucks. My problem with the AliExpress sellers is that I’m not a hundred percent sure that it’s the same device espresso outlet is importing even though the seller uses Itop as well as Turin and then they call them MiiCoffee on Amazon, so it might be worth getting from espresso outlet just because they might have better customer service, idk.

So I ended up getting the Ode 1.0 after all. Hear me out: It was $143 on Amazon, with the same Fellow warranty and such. & Fellow has the 2.0 burrs available for $68 so with both things I am still only in it for $211. This compares unfavorably with the Turin/iTop/Xeoleo/generic Alibaba SD40 machine because those can be had for only $167 on Alibaba. It’s also more expensive than the other contender, the Solis Scala Zero, which came in at $100. I was going to go for the Opus maybe at $165 too, but then I kinda realized that I was buying the wrong kind of grinder for my brewing style.

Basically I want to brew light roast beans and bring out their flowery clear notes so I basically figure flat burrs are the way to go. Once I decided that I wanted flat burrs the Ode was the way to go. The 2 year warranty on the Fellow when registered on their site is also good, and I have had good experiences with their “VIP” customer service team. They also do longevity testing on their grinders, and it’s super easy to dial in when exhausted. I am a basic bitch essentially is why I got it. I won’t ever do espresso at home until I have the money to upgrade to a much better setup, and that would imply that I have the money to get a SK40 or DF64 for espresso anyway. I figure that because I am literally only doing filter coffee the Ode with 2.0 burrs will be good. I brewed my first cups with it, and it seems fine. I think the 2.0 burr will be a worthy upgrade when I can afford to do so next month. I also needed it quickly because partner needed grounds for their new Capresso drip machine. It seems like the most bog standard crappy plastic coffee machine, but they like the coffee it makes, so that’s a win, but it’s probably due to the new grinder.

You could like make a simple accumulator machine out of logic gates and enter binary instructions expressed in hexadecimal into its register to program it, yeah, but it’s not capable of all the operations of a computer. But yes the first programming was just op codes, switches flipped or punch cards, there was no assembly language. But assembly language is pretty much just mnemonics for operations and registers. Like I had to write a couple C programs in school and use GNU C compiler to disassemble them into x86 assembly and see what it was doing on that level, then we “wrote” some x86 assembly by copypasting a lot of instructions but its not that hard to make something that works in like x86 assembly or like Jasmin (Java virtual machine assembly language) if it’s simple enough.

If you don’t block ads and you type things into searches about alcohol you will indeed get a lot of alcohol ads. The thing is though, I never got them as frequently when I was still drinking, or maybe never noticed them. Also I once got served ads for beer on a page about quitting booze lol, it seems pretty intentional even though it’s most likely not that targeted.
