I think it was more a reaction to bringing it up when someone is already feeling sad over his pet being hurt.

Glad I’m not alone… I can glance an article in 30 seconds, so I fail to see how video is a better format for this.

For udemy teachings, yes, video is great. But it’s way overused for everything.

Almost every problem in the world would be dealt with meaningfully if we outlawed billionaires.

Everytime I look at small problems or big global problems, if you follow the money trail, it all leads to some billionaire who is either working towards increasing their wealth or protecting their wealth from decreasing....

I think billionaries are a symptom, not a cause, of the disease.

Some people are born in positions where they already have massive wealth and they grow up with connections to make it larger and larger. So that’s what they do.

But the real issue is the system that keeps everyone in debt for life. Many would like to stop working and enjoy their lives instead. They don’t need much. Just don’t want to work and get by with decent living standard.

First thing I did was look at a proper benchmark: www.phoronix.com/review/cachyos-linux-perf/1

With the exception of the gaming benchmarks coming out well on CachyOS, in many of the workloads CachyOS didn’t demonstrate any measurably better performance over fellow Arch Linux derivative EndeavourOS.

So it’s great for gamers who want to squeeze extra performance from their hardware.

Is there a more politically and ideologically diverse alternative for Lemmy?

I know the real answer is reddit but I really don’t want to go back now that I’ve already grown used to life without it. I was hoping for Lemmy to be a viable substitute but it isn’t. I can see how this place is wonderful for the certain type of person but that person is not me. My experience during the past 6+ months has...

I think some mods are a bit too happy to use their mod tools. I’ve seen opinions get moderated away because they anger people, not because they are wrong.

A mature society is able to discuss things without banning opinions they don’t agree with.

Most users actually wants Lemmy.world to have harch moderation, because they don’t want to be exposed to things that upset them.

I think it’s always like that. The big popular platforms are always heavily moderated. And most people are happy with it.

There are always smaller alternatives for others who feel comfortable reading things we don’t agree with sometimes in exchange for nobody controlling the feed.

I’m a bit in between. There is a Swedish site called Flashback that is really good for finding out what actually happens. The media often gives one view and leaves out many details, and it’s very fun to go read what actually happened on flashback afterwards.

We are using an AMI on aws for Ubuntu right now. We need to stick to Ubuntu also since our product is tested on that distribution and so on. What about hardened Ubuntus?
