Everyone is talking about how Meta is trying to Embrace, Extend, and Extinguish the Fediverse. Meta won’t be alone for long in this goal, there will be a lot of capitalist actors that would try to do the same in the long run....
Just curious. I’m hearing that a lot of people are using various apps with Lemmy but I’m having such a good experience with the browser version that I don’t understand the point of adding an additional layer via an app in between my access to the service. I’d love to hear people’s opinions about the pros and/or cons to...
Hi, anyone has suggestion on how do i delete all my Reddit activities (posts, comments, upvotes, etc.) or any tool to make this easier?
I know that many people are concerned about “Threads” privacy policy and are all screaming “WE WILL BLOCK THREADS”. I honestly can’t see how it’s going to gather any personal information since Lemmy, mastodon etc. doesn’t collect any information at all. Like, how can you gather information about user, if he...
I’m thinking about making a return from Garmin in the near future with Samsung announcing the Galaxy Watch 6 making a return with the ever-so-popular rotating bezel, and Google is now focused on their own Pixel Watch. For people who are currently using a WearOS device, what are your thoughts on the current state of the...

I don’t understand why a car would have both if they both provide rotational energy, unless they just stack? I don’t know what’s going on.
Time for a new beginning!!!
We've been investigating some recurring issues with the user experience on the instance, and have traced it back to the way Lemmy handles language settings....

Every Thanksgiving since I was a child, I’ve had to make something for Thanksgiving. Typically, and I think this goes for many Americans (and presumably Canadians cause they have a similar Thanksgiving), this involves sharing the kitchen with way too many cooks. It can be difficult to know what tools you’ll have in an...
I’m looking for a duplicate/similarity checker against a custom set of documents. This is possibly like a plagiarism checker, but with a custom reference (instead of everything that exists)....
I have about 8TB of storage that is currently only replicated through a raid array. I occasionally sync that to another USB drive and leave that in a fireproof safe (same location)....
It occurred to me today that I am hosting more and more services locally, but I still rely on a 3rd party weather app on my PC and phone. Generally, they suck as a class of applications - so much surveillance....
Hi, lets talk about 2in1 laptops and tablets. Which ones are the best for running linux on them, which ones are your favorites right now, what do you like using them for, etc. I find myself really missing having a 2in1 sometimes, especially for the portability aspects of them....
Can you recommend any screen video capture tools compatible with Wayland? I’ll use such a tool on my Raspberry Pi 400 under 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm, so I’d prefer one with appropriate Debian binaries....
