I know it’s not popular and I’m typically against it but I was listening to a podcast and it made me think there are absolutely important communities that shouldn’t be on a centralised platform like Reddit. The contents of them are so important that it should be on the Open Social Web. I’m wondering if there is someone...
Just making sure I’m in the right place. I cannot see any developed communities here so I’ve started wondering, what’s the real place everyone from Reddit has moved to? I’ve heard something about Discuit, but never tried it.
It’s a great and easy way to get an overview of new communities or communities with some new activity. I check interesting communities and if i like them, i subscribe. There is also a community where you can ask for a certain community. I asked once and someone replied and pointed me to an interesting community:
I’m not trying to cause an argument but when Reddit pulled it’s bs - I said that’s enough. I gave up my Reddit addiction and didn’t open it or visit the site for over 30 days....
There’s a reddit archiver instance of lemmy: lemmit.online. It’s a good solution if you only want to access posts from a subreddit without commenting on them or creating traffic for reddit. You can either look for a particular existing subreddit or request one if it’s not being archived at the moment.
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !requests
I haven’t been able to subscribe to communities I’m not already subscribed to using Sync, I usually go on the web interface.
If you want to search for already copied communities, you should search lemmit’s local communities. To request new ones, you have to post on !requests, but keep in mind that the bot is broken until its author updates it.
I think it’s the one sub that I miss that would lend itself well to having a bot repost them since you’re not supposed to contact the op anyway. I don’t know how to do bots and I think it would be an easy success if someone wants that.

Check out !worldnews. The admin of lemmit.online has set up a bot that fetches reddit posts via RSS, making it much easier to make the switch and of course not getting any ads....

Where are all of the reddit refugees these days?
Just making sure I’m in the right place. I cannot see any developed communities here so I’ve started wondering, what’s the real place everyone from Reddit has moved to? I’ve heard something about Discuit, but never tried it.
Is anyone else having trouble giving up Reddit due to content?
I’m not trying to cause an argument but when Reddit pulled it’s bs - I said that’s enough. I gave up my Reddit addiction and didn’t open it or visit the site for over 30 days....
Does anyone know if creating a content-"sharing" bot for Lemmy(, from reddit subs and elsewhere,) would be illegal ?
There’s quite a few communities that i’m missing on Lemmy....
Would someone build a bot and sub that reposts best of reddit updates?

Libreddit and Teddit are practically dead
It appears API rate limiting has effectively killed these alternatives. You essentially get nothing but “Too many requests” 429 errors....
How did Lemmy.world become more popular than Lemmy.ml?
I don’t understand how Lemmy.world developers managed to surpass both Lemmy.ml and Beehaw.org instances in user activity.
You can now get reddit posts on lemmy via RSS, without any ads ;)
