Nearly four in ten (39%) of US adults say they worry most or all of the time that their family’s income won’t be enough to meet expenses, according to a new CNN poll. That’s up from 28% who expressed those concerns in December 2021, and it’s similar to the numbers seen during the Great Recession (37%)....
Ok, retard. You don't need to read all of the articles in the world to necessarily understand something. Because you know, you're forgetting that people hear stories from others. They live around others making poor financial decisions. It's called living, do you know that or are you still wolfing down pizza bagels and hot pockets that your mom personally delivers to you in your basement you call a 'mancave'?
Who is paying $1,000 of groceries a month? Who does that? Sounds like poor management to me. Either that or you've inflated the number to sound like you've got a foot of a counterargument that you don't have.
Sounds like you're making up so many incompatible strawmen to make yourself sound smart.
So I ordered a party player of spicy chicken wings for game night. Figure 7 D&D players no way that is going to be enough. Everyone ended up eating dinner before they came, resulting in lots of leftovers.
Don’t worry, I have a friend with three teenagers. Hate seeing food go to waste and knowing those kids they polished it off in 20 minutes.
Maybe I will make mini pizza bagels next time. Thoughts?
Gouda for him, though. However Brie his 15 minutes may be, let him enjoy it. 20 gallons over the course is not even all that much. That’s barely more than a gallon a month. If you speak Portuguese, that’s like less than 4 liters. A liter a week of cheese isn’t exactly uncommon. That’s like a few salads, some mac and cheese, a pizza, several cheese quesadillas, a box of Hungry Helper, and some cheese strings, plus cream cheese bagels, and a sprinkle of parm on the pizza. Who hasn’t had one of those types of week before?
It seems pretty common for travelers to lament the lack of good bread like at home. Bread basically a living organism that is ultra local. Good bread like at home really only exists at home. Local water, temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors seem to play a big part.
Ask anyone from New York or New Jersey about getting a good pizza or bagel in another state. It doesn’t matter who makes it or if they’re using the exact same recipe, perfect bread can evidently not be replicated outside the region. There is even a bagel company in south Florida, catering to snowbirds turned transplants, that claims to use water from that region to make their bagels.
I’m in VA and I have a couple of spots that sell their food “from NY water shipped daily.” Idk it is bomb ass bagels and pizza though. I’m not sure what the water does but I enjoy eating it.
Kevin Roberts remembers when he could get a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a drink from Five Guys for $10. But that was years ago. When the Virginia high school teacher recently visited the fast-food chain, the food alone without a beverage cost double that amount....
Yeah, I love my local pizza place and I’m on good terms with the owner, but the prices have gone up enough that I’ve set a hard limit of only going there once a month, and there are some menu items that I explicitly just will not buy because they’re so overpriced.
Cost frankly does define my dietary habits. The number one reason that I don’t decide to grab the odd piece of vegan chicken to put in a bagel is because it costs 50% more than regular chicken.
For me, it’s not just the closeness of things, but also having a dozen good options for eating takeout, or numerous local coffee roasters or bakeries. I love the idea of living closer to nature on the big island of Hawaii but, it would be rough. To bring the things I love with me I’d also have to roast my own coffee, bake my own bagels and pizza, and brew my own beer. Basically it would be a full time job. I’m happy that these things are still available to me as hobbies, but they are easily outsourced in a real city. And it’s not like you can’t find pizza or beer or coffee on Hawaii, but the quality and variety of those things falls short of what you’d get in a bigger city.
What does that have to do with copyright infringement though? And how would it be illegal?
I could totally start a website, maybe call it “New York Stories”, read every news article about New York (I’d get a lot of them from NYT) and then working off my own memory, not copy/pasting the text write/publish the same story. That would not be copyright infringement. In fact the NYT themselves do it all the time, publishing things that were originally reported elsewhere. You’re allowed to do that as long as you don’t produce exact copies.
LLMs generally don’t do exact copies of anything - they’re just not exact at all. If you ask the AI exactly the same question a thousand times, you won’t get precisely the same exact response twice.
For example asking “What should I eat in New York?” gave me:
New York City offers a vast array of culinary experiences, reflecting its diverse culture. Here’s a mix of iconic eats and modern must-tries:
Pizza: New York-style pizza is famous worldwide. Visit classic spots like Di Fara, Lombardi’s, or newer favorites like Lucali for a slice of this iconic dish.
Bagels and Lox: New York bagels are [… several more paragraphs …]
Then the same question again:
New York City is a melting pot of cultures, making it one of the best places in the world to explore a wide variety of cuisines. Here are some iconic foods and places to consider when deciding what to eat in New York:
Pizza: New York-style pizza is famous worldwide. Look for places with a long history and great reviews, such as Lombardi’s (America’s first pizzeria), Di Fara Pizza, or Joe’s Pizza for a classic slice.
Bagels: Another iconic New York […]
It’s approximately the same response but not exactly the same and even recommends different restaurants.
Being exact matters when it comes to copyright infringement. Like OpenAI I’m genuinely curious how they got it to output a verbatim copy of anything. That’s highly unusual behaviour and if they had reported it to the company I’m sure it would have been fixed. Just like if someone posted an exact copy of an NYT article in this community it would be removed and nobody would be taken to court.
Nope. Just throw the ingredients into the machine and turn it on. my machine won’t do anything for the first few minutes then it’ll start doing it’s thing. In about an hour and 20 minutes later it’ll beep to let you know to add nuts/raisins etc (If you so desire) and after that it’ll start the actual baking process.
From the time it’s turned on it takes 3 hours and ten minutes before it’s finished. at that point you can either pop the loaf out or it’ll go into 'warming mode" and just sit there and keep itself warm.
I can also do bagels and pizza dough for it, which works well. Saves a lot of the effort of beating up the dough.
A little late but just to add to my other reply, most breadmakers have a dough setting that allows you to toss your ingredients in and it’ll just make the dough for you. Then you can take the dough and bake it the rest of the way the old fashioned way. (It’s the way I make bagels and pizza dough)
I highly recommend one just for the ease of use. There’s lots of good recipes online. One tip is if your machine seems to struggle a bit when it’s kneading, just add a bit more water/milk to the recipe to smooth it out.
Obtained my motorbike licensed recently…really enjoying learning how to get good at riding a motorcycle…I don’t get time.tonride as it is and I really need to make time to do slow manoeuvres as this is what is required to pass the next stage of licensing.
I love seeing live music, however, where I love it’s just not an option to do each week. I love listening to records… me and the kid put a record on when doing the housework…teaching them the ways!
Used to play video games every day for a few minutes…but haven’t played one in 5 months.
It was a common thing when I lived there. I told people I had moved to New York and I kept getting spiels about how a North Carolina chick like me could never survive the big city… when given more context they calmed down.
I lived in Oneonta for a bit before Niskayuna. It had been temporary. I was only there to have my GRS done (am trans) went back home when the procedure was finally done
I was so glad to make the switch. I had so many people larping Southerners there, talking about how they’re “Just like the dude from Duck Dynasty” and how great my home state was because “Everyone down there is rich becauae liberals don’t make them pay taxes!”
It was certainly eye opening. I suddenly knew how a Native American feels when John Jackson over at the frathouse puts on a feathered headdress and starts talking about “Hunting buffalo for many moons” in his worst impression of whatever racist old Western he’s seen.
I think what made me hit the peak of this nonsense was when I was eating at a local diner where the owners were speaking in a (blatantly forced) Southern Accent one morning, and I asked if they served grits.
They looked at me as if I had just asked for them to kill and serve me their pet dog, even had some guy (one of their regulars, it was a small town) munching a bagel audibly voice his disgust that someone would actually ask for grits.
Ya know what we call people who eat bagels in North Carolina? Tourists
And I think anyone who’s seen My Cousin Vinny knows how much we Southern folk like our grits.
When I moved to Niskayuna the situation improved. Sure it looked less like my home town, but that was for the best… I’d rather have Real New Yorkers introducing me to the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life than Fake Southerners scolding me for wanting grits.

The target market for this is parents of not-picky teenage boys, who like to eat late at night. That being said, I am a big fan, I usually will pick up a few exotic slices of pizza and heat them up the next day, or a bag of bagels over the weekend and freeze them. It's great for discovering new places and getting food that I would not ordinarily eat, but you will have to slow down as the food by me is nearly exclusively pizza and bagels..
