For all your boycotting needs. I’m sure there’s some mods caught in lemmy.ml’s top 10 that are perfectly upstanding and reasonable people, my condolences for the cross-fire....
What is it about the text messages and emails sent by older people that make me feel like I'm having a stroke?
Maybe they're used to various shortcuts in their writing that they picked up before autocorrect became common, but these habits are too idiosyncratic for autocorrect to handle properly. However, that doesn't explain the emails I've had to decipher that were typed on desktop keyboards. Has anyone else younger than 45 or so felt similarly frustrated with geriatrics' messages?
@MissJinx@asklemmy I wasn't sure of the right word to use. Geriatric seemed correct enough. To be clear, I don't think there's anything especially wrong or bad about my elders. I just think there might be some kind of technological and cultural collision happening that makes me feel like I'm crazy sometimes.
Hello. Let’s talk about self-care. Who practices self-care regularly? I’ve been making an absolute effort to practice self-care, and it’s definitely improving my mood. I floss, meditate, do qigong, breathwork, etc. Yes, flossing is self-care, take care of yo teefs. What does everyone do for self-care? Bonus question: Where...
Pretty much the same as you, but I do yoga instead of qigong. Plus I focus a lot on diet and nutrition and try to make sure I’m getting everything I need, whilst trying to minimise or avoid things that are bad for you, like processed foods, sugary stuff etc. Bought a Garmin smartwatch and smart scales last year to keep a track of my exercise goals, hydration, HRV, and sleep quality, and that’s been real helpful in keeping track of my health.
Also planning to take up some basic martial arts as well; I was looking at kyokushin, but might pick wing chun due to it’s practicality / self-defence aspects.
Bonus question: Where else can I post questions besides Ask Lemmy?
You can also post questions on Ask Lemmy’s evil twin - !asklemmy
Here are some random communities that you may enjoy. As general tip: look for things you enjoy. For instance, there are plenty of communities about privacy and open source, food, climate, gaming, browsers, plants and animals, news, politics, sports, memes, you name it. I really like the trending communities; great way to find new communities or remind you to look for something you hadn’t thought about.
Just wondering what the limit is on rule 2 as I see things like covid vaccine effect questions, what scams are still around and other spicy topics. Don’t want to make anyone upset but it seemed odd.
When I first started using Lemmy it seemed like such a nice place with interesting discussions. It seemed like the first group of people to join after the app exodus were being quite careful to be respectful of the existing culture....
I definitely agree. I pointed out that [email protected] is becoming more and more like AskReddit and I got downvoted and got these sarcastic and obnoxious responses that are typical for reddit
You should be using !asklemmy type links instead of direct URLs. If I click, it kicks me out of my app to where I can’t subscribe as I’m not logged in to that server.
!AmItheAsshole (This seems active, there are a lot of bot reposts from reddit tho. You can view it using archive.is to view the original without giving reddit traffic, or use an adblocker if you are visiting directly.)
Edit: It seems like the AITA replacement is just mirroring reddit. There are not much discussion in the lemmy comment.
Edit 2: Someone below pointed out !aita is active, yay I love drama 😅 😟

Is this like the lemmy version of askreddit?
Do you practice self care?

There's a new pill. It turns you into a zombie. Everybody takes it. Refusing the pill means eternal social isolation. Do you take it?
A zombie is dumb, ugly, stinky, violent and a slave to eternal hunger. It’s pretty bad.
What are some good Subs on Lemmy that we should know about?
Subs? Not sure if that’s the right term on here.
Should we decide to have a main fediverse community or should we keep posting everything twice?
Hello everyone,...
Why was a post about "What's the worst Lemmy community you've run across?" removed due to rule 2 when it seemed kinda weaksause compared to what is normally here?
Just wondering what the limit is on rule 2 as I see things like covid vaccine effect questions, what scams are still around and other spicy topics. Don’t want to make anyone upset but it seemed odd.
