“So guys getting blown up in trenches in Ukraine by drones? Ha, totally not age-restricted,” the creator said. “ Me firing a 3D printed pink glock that I made? Age-restricted. We don’t need kids watching that. We want kids watching people getting blown up by mines. Love it. Awesome.”
Guys missing the corpo bottom line.
Gun manufacturers have gotten sued by families of school shooting victims. Youtube runs the risk of getting dragged into court because little Billy sees the 3D printed pink glock, decides that he can make that, that its time to fuck up some bullies, and then after that those bullies parents shoot lawyers in every direction (which includes Youtube, even if the odds of getting anything are minimal) like mushroom spores. That risk assessment doesn’t exist for Ukraine war vids.
It’s amazing how many internet providers still won’t enable IPv6, even though it is hugely beneficial to their own networks (more efficient routing = less router overhead = more bandwidth and less power usage = SAVE MONEY).
IPv6 was pernanently turned on for the Internet in 2011. That’s THIRTEEN YEARS AGO.
All consumer and enterprise equipment made in the last 10+ years natively support IPv6. There is no excuse anymore. You can enable dual stack and setup / get your v6 block and go for it. The v6 routing tables are much simpler than the v4 routing tables, as it only has to point to the prefix network for any address, and prefixes are handed out so the ISP gets a contigious prefix block. The routers sort the rest out.
IPv6 has the 2000::/3 range for internet traffic. That’s 2^125 ip addresses possible. We’re not running out of those even if we have an internet on every planet in the solar system.
IPv6 Prefix Delegation works like DHCP but for IPv6. It’s not indecipherable magic runes.
Router asks for a v6 range -> ISP router gives the range -> Router then either further subdivides into subnets, or uses DHCPv6 to give out v6 addresses. Simple.
But of course, nobody wants to do it the simple way… AT&T and your strange subnetting spec-breaking routers.
Odd that Comcast/Xfinity, the company that somehow manages to have even worse service than AT&T, implements IPv6 near perfectly. They give prefixes when your router asks. Their own gateways give prefixes to routers behind when requested. It works. If the arguably worst internet company can deploy IPv6 this well, any company can.
In addition, every device also has its own link-local ipv6 (fe80::/16) that is not routed, but can be called directly and it normally doesn’t change, as it is based partly on the network card’s MAC address. Need to connect your printer by ip address? Use the link local v6 and stop having to play the DHCP or static IP charade.
I find that odd actually; eucalyptus contains an oil that quite a few people are allergic to. I’d never heard it was a rare allergy, in fact, elements of its oils are often associated with allergies:
I mean even if it is not mandatory but automatically enabled once, odds are %80 of the users won’t even bother turning it off so win for windows in any case
KIDNEY. Disposition, principles, humour. Of a strange kidney; of an odd or unaccountable humour. A man of a different kidney; a man of different principles.

Hi guys! So, I have Proton Mail, and this also gives me the Calendar. I love that I have a encrypted private calendar, but it bothers me that it doesn’t play well with any other app, as it’s not officially a “calendar” to Android. This bothers me, because I use GrapheneOS, with mostly no Google services, and I’d like...
Click the windowing mode icon (far left of the icons in the top right) and switch that bad boy to tiled windowing mode. Tiled windows will feel odd for a couple of days, but once you switch back to free-floating windows you’ll realize why I’m recommending tiled.
Look up the PopOS keyboard shortcuts for moving tiled windows around the desktop and workspaces. It’s a game-changing way to use your computer.
PopOS has been my daily driver for a year. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
This is going to be interesting. I’m already thinking on how it would impact my gameplay.
The main concern for me is sci packs spoiling. Ideally they should be consumed in situ, so I’d consider moving the research to Gleba and ship other sci packs to it. This way, if something does spoil at least the spoilage is near where I can use it. Probably easier said than done - odds are that other planets have “perks” that would make centralising science there more convenient.
You’ll also probably want to speed up the production of the machines as much as possible, since the products inherit spoilage from the ingredients. Direct insertion, speed modules, upgrading machines ASAP will be essential there - you want to minimise the time between the fruit being harvested and outputting something that doesn’t spoil (like plastic or science).
Fruits outputting pulp and seeds also hint me an oil-like problem, as you need to get rid of byproducts that you might not be using. Use only the seeds and you’re left with the pulp; use only the pulp and you’re left with the seeds. The FFF hints that you can burn stuff, but that feels wasteful.
To get out of those spirals, I just remind myself that I’ve probably forgotten hundreds of things other people probably regret saying/doing, and odds are most people probably forgot mine. Even if I’m sure someone didn’t forget it, I doubt they ever think about it anymore.
I don’t know, but it sure is odd that a motorcycle manual is attempting, and apparently failing, to give a physics lesson, so I’m going to suggest that it’s the motorcycle manual the demons that whisper into their ears at night use when they ride their motorcycles over to their bedroom.
Part of the problem is that UA is such a massive airline, odds are any alternatives would involve quite a bit of sacrifice. Not many people would be willing or can afford to take an extra 2 layovers or 50%+ extra travel time or cost in order to get to where they want to go 🫤 That’s not to say I won’t try my best to avoid UA though, I was already sick of them after my last trip and now I find this news.
Stupid question but is it possible to get a virus from an MKV file that is less than 24 hours old. I was streamed using VLC version 3.0.20 form the repose on Linux.
You’re on linux? The odds of you getting a virus on linux are not 0 but very slim, since the userbase is very small.
Plus, viruses prey on people’s ignorance. The usual “movie file viruses” are .exe files and can only be run on windows. Most people don’t enable the option to show file extensions on windows, so a filed named “movie.mkv.exe” would show up as “movie.mkv” instead.
IMO, the odds of you accidentally running a virus by playing a .mkv file on linux are as high as the odds of you winning the lottery 3 times in a row.
I’m utterly blessed because my personal area of coverage is in the hardware and storage systems (disks, RAID, filesystems, virtualization, etc.) so I am way more likely to interact with business users instead of individual home users, which is where the vast majority of the “I have XX decades of experience” types come from. They’re also generally a lot more willing to listen to me because if I’m talking to them it’s fair odds that they fucked up bad enough that they’re at risk of losing all their data, and that’s usually enough to get them to shut up.
But god, some of the tickets I’ve seen from other employees…
Not having the right to work doesn’t necessarily mean asylum seeker won’t work. I suspect it make them more likely to accept undeclared odd jobs. In which case they wouldn’t work less, but would pay no taxes, and have worse working conditions.
Same. I bought stock in it when it IPO’d because he made a good road map that his engineers could get to and they made great use of government funding. He largely just seemed like an awkward nerd. The Thai cave rescue was the instance where I thought there was something seriously wrong with the dude. He decided to have a sub built even though nobody asked him to and the thing did not fit. Then he called one of the rescuers a pedophile. And not just as an odd insult; he doubled down on the claim. Since then it just seems he has been continually seeking attention.
As for the company, their poor quality control was understandable 10 years ago but it’s still pretty fucking bad and I honestly think he is a big part of that. I recall watching a documentary a long time ago where the producer was talking to Musk about some of the challenges of making the Roadster. They were in a warehouse that had a couple dozen that had been inspected. Musk looked at the notes on one and it had a pretty major issue that would likely pop up but he was going to ship it anyway. The producer looked at it and noticed that they were looking at the car that would be going to him. Musk very awkwardly backpedaled. It sends that willingness to overlook major flaws has not left.
I’m asking because as a light-skinned male, I always use the standard Simpsons yellow. I don’t really see other light-skinned people using an emoji that matches their skin tone, but often do see people of color use them. Maybe white people don’t naturally realize a need to be explicit with emoji skin-tone or perhaps it’s...
Matt Groening said he made the characters in the Simpsons yellow with oddly colored hair so that people would be confused by the colors and try to adjust the knobs on their TVs to fix it only to never get it quite right.
It also happens when the hosts file is messed up and the system can’t resolve its own hostnames. Opensuse used to be pretty notorious for doing something odd to the hosts file by default that really only affected Firefox.
Edit: the increased security they’re trying around the browser might also be triggering that local resolution issue
In a world where the Repubs would also vote rationally it might be the right choice. But they’re all in on this guy. They’re all in on whoever it is every election. Fox has brainwashed a huge swath of the country. Even worse, the land area gets the voting power instead of the people. So the Dems are only ever going to actually care about the opinions of a few select districts in a few select states.
And I don’t think you see as much of a difference between Dems and Repubs as I do, so you view Donald as less of a risk than I do. I think it was a huge disaster 2017-2021 and it would be complete and (this time) irreversible disaster 2025 to whenever. I’m still not sure if 2017 was reversible TBH.
I appreciate the dialogue but I think we’ve reached the point where our fundamental beliefs about it are just at odds. Neither of us will convince each other to be all the way on the other’s position. Let’s conclude amicably (I think we were).
(I don’t mean to cut you off, if you had closing thoughts to respond with here, I’ll read them. But I might not follow up.)
This comment is bizarre to me. Is 35 mph fast or slow? Because it is the same as 55 kph ( km/h ).
55 km/h is an odd speed though it is true. Most towns in Canada for example, the default speed limit is 50 km/h. Highway speeds are more like 100 km/h.
There is a big gap between auth-left and auth-right thought. Auth-right thought imposes violence as an inherent part of the ideology because it promotes the idea of racial supremacy, they have to actively commit violence to achieve their goals. Auth-left uses violence on perceived threats to their order, not based on features people are born with. I do not agree with China’s actions on Tiananmen Square or their treatment of Uyghurs, but these two things are definitely used by the US as a fulcrum to attack China.
Do you not find it odd how much importance is placed on Tiananmen Square after all these decades? Do you not find it odd how hard the US hammers the point of the Uyghur genocide while at the same time fully funding and supporting the genocide of Palestinians? The tactic is to flood communication channels with propaganda to achieve domination over the narrative and this is the sort of thing we’re seeing here with countless posts about tankies. Why are we supposed to take American narratives as gospel to shut down opposing narratives?
