I started reading this book because of the amount of people that describe it as a ‘must read’ for Japan travel enthusiasts or in general, people that feel curious about the country and its people....
Yeah, it’s pretty messed up. Honestly I’m not religious as at all though, I just like taking pictures of churches. They’re always such interesting buildings! This one is particularly odd because it’s a little castle hidden in the middle of a residential neighborhood. This is not a main street and it’s surrounded by normal houses lol
NEW DELHI (AP) — His social media accounts suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is launching high-speed trains and rubbing shoulders with foreign leaders as a powerhouse on the global stage and the face of an ascendant India....
Invest in a solid charger (30-40€ will do). You’ll keep it for years, it’ll charge an odd number of batteries as well (unlike some cheap ones that only charge in pairs) and it charges just the right amount, then stops. Some even have battery test/discharge function, and charge more than just AA/AAA.
Then invest in a bunch of rechargeables, possibly Eneloops or something good from Amazon.
Now profit for years to come. The planet will thank you as well.
Honestly single use consumer batteries should be banned.
There’s a burger shop ona prominent corner with an odd name (I won’t say to avoid doxxing my neighborhood but it’s basically “Burger Style Burgers”). Despite where it’s located, it’s never busy and it’s been there forever. There’s one other location: 3000 miles away in LA. Definitely a money laundering operation.
When I was in Seattle there is this pizza place in a suburban neighborhood that only open for 3 hours 4 days a week from 2:00 to 5:00. All of the workers were the same ones every day and they all three looked no nonsense but friendly enough when you ordered .
The pizza was really good and the calzones were fantastic, so I would go there often, but I almost never saw another customer in the place even though they had at least twenty tables with four chairs at each table set up in two giant dining rooms.
And they were in and out of the way spot with a very small sign. And I think at the most I ever saw one table taken up when I went there and that was only once.
And I never waited in line.
It just seemed like a really odd disposition for a pizza place that obviously needed to pay for a pretty high overhead considering how much space it took up.
There are none that I know with 100% certainty, but there are a few types of businesses that are generally known to be fronts where I come from (and I suspect in many cities), and there are a few specific ones I’m confident are fronts.
Massage parlors are commonly fronts for prostitution all over the world, or offer “extra” services. This is so common that many of them have prominent signs explicitly saying they do NOT.
I swear, there must be more video stores than there are working VCRs in my city. And they seem to have kept mostly the same stock of VHS tapes for the past 30 years. They are rumored to be fronts for, again, prostitution.
I have strong suspicions about psychic readers. There are a ton of them, and many are open at odd hours of the night in places that are not busy enough to get any legitimate foot traffic.
Gyms are all fronts for…gyms. I mean, the gym business is corrupt enough that I feel like that counts.
Don’t worry about, JS is a fine language and is used by all of the top companies. If you want to get a job as a software developer you have decent odds if you learn JS
As Bobert said elsewhere in these comments, there is a massive mental health benefit to having any adult at all who provides the child with presence and emotional support.
To add to that, I have received treatment from numerous therapists. And I have seen siblings and friends receive treatment as well. From my experience – and I might get some flak for this advice – even though a good therapist is better than no therapist, a bad therapist can actually be harmful. Your little pal will easily get more out of a well-intentioned friend than he would get if he wound up placed with a mediocre therapist. It’s the unfortunate state of mental healthcare in this country.
Ten years from now, if he’s eighteen and still in your life and starts asking for monetary assistance to pay for therapy? Great. Pay for his therapy. (Also make absolutely sure he keeps shopping around until he finds a therapist who really clicks with him. For the above reason, you know? The odds of him getting a great one on the first spin aren’t high.)
But until then: there’s a good chance he’s missing very little. And a very good chance there’s nothing to feel bad about if you can’t get this little guy into therapy. There are more surefire ways of improving his outcome.
So, like the other commenters said: offer the mom help. You noted that she’s guaranteed to dump him on you for long stretches of time.
Also, offer to pay for his phone plan. (Like another commenter said, phrase all offers as a benefit to her.) If she agrees, put yourself in his contacts, let him know he can always call you, and try to make sure he knows the number “988” and never feels too shy to reach out to that number.
I got an invite code and so spent a bit of time browsing around because I'd heard good things about it. But I was surprised at how basic and non-diverse it all is. The forums are preset and are very generic. The conversations are definitely better than Reddit, but no better or worse than the ones I've had with people on Fedi....
There are a lot of GOP-controller legislatures in the USA pushing through so-called “child protection” laws, but there’s a toll in the form of impacting people’s rights and data privacy. Most of these bills involve requiring adults to upload a copy of their photo ID.
China heavily restricted video games for minors, and suddenly there was in increase of senior citizens playing videos games. What an odd coincidence… 🤔
spoiler"Nice ID you got there granny, would be a shame if it suddenly went missing"
They appear to be implying that it was only checked, verified to be malware and deleted… after the listing was vigorously defended by mods and users complaining that it was malware were banned. Very odd.
EDIT: Found an archived copy of the listing before it was taken down by 1337x mods. Includes some comments (up to yesterday).
User comments provide proof that malware was uploaded (and 1337x mods themselves admitted it was malware in the Reddit response), yet VitaminX remains unaffected on the site: 1337x.to/user/VitaminX/
There are preserved comments from the 1337x mods, such as:
Ex0duS5150: the next user posting, “Trojan found” is getting the ban hammer. Stop it with the n00bishness. this torrent is not dirty if you dont know what your doing stop DLing torrents.
reply:
IGGGAMESCOM: @Ex0duS5150: thank you so much for this reassurance buddy, now I can breathe a sigh of relief instead of having to “fight” with those guys, lol.
Finally got round to seeing Guardians 3… What a waste of 2 1/2 hours that was. I enjoyed the first 2, but 3 was just terrible. The “story” is awful. Numerous, cheesy, cliché bits thrown together here and there. Nothing interesting or very cohesive. Nothing ever had a sense of consequence....
While I actually like the stakes to become lower again (we can’t keep increasing the stakes forever), I agree that the movie wasn’t what I was hoping for. The origin story stuff and cohesion of the group was nice, but the High Evolutionary was really odd overall.
It’s pretty hit or miss though… I’ve had lots of good calculations with the odd wrong one sprinkled in, making it unreliable for doing maths. Mostly because it presents the result with absolute certainty.
Ye that final was a bit odd. Keep in mind when we join the circuit in a glider we are a lot closer to the runway as compared to power aircraft. I’m assuming also he probably wanted to land sooner rather than later.
I was planning on paying a rogue, paladin, or warlock (based on my tabletop characters), but this article nearly has me convinced. I am waiting for the PS5 release, so any agreement or dissension from my PC friends? Other class recommendations?...
That's the issue with how combat oriented D&D is. While there is a wide assortment of abilities between classes and their roles in combat, a lot of non-combat situations are reduced to just roling high on a skill check, not many choices and approaches to be made. There might be the odd utility spell, but even that isn't a choice for martial classes. Because of that, Bards dominate non-combat encounters, with Jack of all Trades and Expertise.
I don’t know why this sentiment is so popular. It’s a single player game, most single player games don’t have microtransactions… In fact I think it’d be odd and outside the normal if it did
Odd headline. Seems very rooted in the assumption of online gaming these days to me but then you get in and the article is basically just saying the game is a huge success, which is great news I’m sure we can all agree. :)
Many Americans think NASA returning to the moon is a waste of time and it should prioritize asteroid hunting instead, a poll shows::Americans like NASA, but don’t support their funding going towards moon missions, according to new polls.
We don’t even know whether people can maintain health in microgravity making enough to get to Mars. We don’t know if they’ll be functional when they get there. We don’t know what level of gravity is needed to maintain health. We don’t know odd people could survive the radiation for a trip to Mars.
Thats a complete failure to interpret or mischaracterization of my entire point about the smear campaign against the movie. In your fire analogy a better characterization would be:
A building is on fire. Standing outside of it is a person yelling loudly “This building is on fire!”. Nobody is asking him what started the fire or why he is worried about the fire since buildings catch on fire multiple times a year. But he just keeps standing there yelling at anyone that will listen. Then he is approached by members of the crowd that has gathered who all berate him for being so loud and abnoxious and explain to him that house fires happen all the time and to let the authorities handle it, that it’s not really an issue to be concerned with. Then another member of the crowd says, “Hey! I know someone that donated to this building fund when it was being built, and he was accessory to arson! So shut up about this building being on fire, it was only built by people that approve of arson!”
Feels odd that we are unquestionably on the verge of losing this form factor. I like the Pixel Fold approach, but I’ve become fond of the candy bar exterior display. It’s a bit less fun for texting, but makes scrolling social media timelines a treat
The number of older Americans living alone is on the rise. Nearly 16 million people aged 65 and older in the US lived solo in 2022, three times as many who lived alone in that age group in the 1960s. And as Baby Boomers age, that number is expected to grow even more, raising big questions about the country’s future.
That’s so odd. No idea what would be causing that on Windows 10.
For the windows 11 issue I can only think short downtimes of the instance you are trying to use, or your account has something unique about it that I’ve never encountered before.
