"The Middle Dutch Brut is a telling example of the international, multilingual
dynamics of the Anglo-Dutch relations of the printing culture of the later Middle Ages.
For those interested in these aspects, The Middle Dutch Brut is a welcome addition and edition."
The problem here may have been that I did not want to assert as a certainty what I established on the basis of conjecture.
Namely, principally on the basis that at the time of printing, at some remove from the time of composition, the chronicle's deliberate politics did not make sense anymore, and that moreover they seem at odds with the broader work in which the chronicle was embedded by the printer/publisher, and that on the basis of those observations it is likely that the printer/publisher did not understand the chronicle's politics.
Quite literally you are your brain, trying to account for the entire body and mind as the self simultaneously. But you may catch yourself thinking or saying things like “I can’t wrap my brain around this.” Isn’t that odd? Your brain refers to itself as my brain. Is that a linguistic issue or is your sense of perspective off?
“Don’t you have a heart?” Why do we imply that our sense of compassion is only located in an organ that just pumps blood? That clearly can’t be the case.
We know cases where someone gets a brain tumor and suddenly becomes violent or unfeeling. When the brain is damaged either during life or during gestation, we know that we can lose all manner of things: cognition, motor skills, memory, emotions, etc. It’s all the brain.
What confuses the issue is everything the brain is attached to. What I think all conscious humans do is try to make sense of the mind-body connection. I feel tired, that’s not just my brain feeling tired. I can feel tired in every single part of my body independently or all together. “I” am the brain. If I lose an arm, I don’t lose my sense of self. But losing important functions can damage the self I’ve constructed of myself. If I lose my eyesight I will be a very different person when I’m unable to visually enjoy video games, movies, art, nature. But clearly blind people still have a self. If it sits behind their eyes, will it move? Adapt to their ears?
All this to say, your self is self constructed. It’s malleable. But make no mistake that the source of where self and consciousness are maintained is the brain.
I saw one of these meteors a couple nights ago around midnight, while running. Thought it was odd as I don’t normally see that in my area. This explains it. Beautiful experience
Since then, provincial and federal ministers have sparred over the controversial decision, exposing tensions between Alberta, which favours natural gas for power generation, and the governing Liberals, who have the broader ambition to decarbonize electrical grids across the country by 2035.
Wow, damn.
I mean if it were nuclear, that’d be one thing as a stop-over. As in, you got the nuclear power plants, you were supposed to decommision X% by 202X, but since money is needed everywhere and only so many people exist to work on issues you’re pushing that out to focus on reforestation, decommissioning coal/gas plants, etc etc.
That’s one thing. In fact I wish Germany hadn’t in the wake of Fukushima omg-scare-closed our nuclear power plants and instead just hard-closed all gas and coal plants. But eh, bit late to worry about that one now. Still, opting for fossil over either nuclear or fully renewable is… a bit of an odd choice, yeah. To put it mildly.
That’s still a far higher degree of technical competence than is possessed by the target audience for PowerPoint, Google Slides, or LibreOffice present. Also, claiming someone isn’t technical just because they’re not a computer programmer is a little odd. Most programmers I know don’t go anywhere near LaTeX because it’s so confusing and the spec is so complicated. They use powerpoint, Miro, or markdown slides when they want to present something.
So you're restating the claim the article made with supposing it's because it's bigger and just being done first. But there's still technically has the capability of tracking others. And I wouldn't say being the product of choice of stalkers necessarily makes it a better product.
Edit: it's also odd that you went out of the way to extol the product when you're just agreeing with the conclusion I made as well. We get it. You love Apple.

Journal of Aging and Health, Ahead of Print.
ObjectivesTo examine the associations between perceived neighborhood conditions and older Chinese adults’ sleep problems, and whether these associations are mediated by psychosocial factors and moderated by urban-rural residence.MethodsData were from the World Health Organization Study on global Ageing and Adult Health. We used OLS, binary, and multinomial logistic regression analyses. Karlson–Holm–Breen decomposition method was used to test mediation effects.ResultsPositively perceived neighborhood social cohesion was associated with fewer insomnia symptoms and decreased odds of poor sleep quality, sleepiness, lethargy, and short sleep duration. Positively perceived neighborhood safety was related to decreased risks of poor sleep quality and sleepiness. Depression and perceived control partially mediated the effects of perceived neighborhood on sleep. Furthermore, the protective effects of neighborhood cohesion against sleep problems were more pronounced among older urban adults than their rural counterparts.DiscussionInterventions that make neighborhoods safer and more integrated will improve late-life sleep health.

Well that would explain why there isn’t a general use community only instance. Honestly that feels like a feature that should exist, while still leaving “local only” as an instance setting for people who like it that way.
Still seems odd for instances with a specific set of premade communities with new ones disabled to worry about hosting accounts, like the startrek one.
As a Canadian it really depends whether I say Zee or Zed. Looking online I was surprised to see that it has apparently been Zed in Canada for a long time, but I distinctly recall being raised on Zee until about the mid 2000s then everywhere in the curriculum it was Zed and I started hearing it more. Probably the biggest influence on whether I say Zee or Zed just depends on pop norms, and what sounds better.
Some examples:
Zee Zee Top, obviously
Jay Zee
350Zed and 370Zed (in reference to Nissan's sportscar models, this actually changed for me over time, for the longest time I would say 350Zee or 370Zee, but when referring to the model broadly, it's always Zee Cars, or for the classic model, it's Fairlady Zee. Fairlady Zed just sounds awful)
Day-Zee (the movie and video game)
Dragon Ball Zee (ALWAYS, Dragon Ball Zed would be madness, I've never even considered saying Zed here, perhaps because I encountered it more in my Zee prevalent childhood)
Zed-DX (the Acura)
BMW Zed4
La-Zee-boy (the sofas, obviously, ruins the pun otherwise)
Alfa Romeo SZed (another car, it seems any time it is separate letters or a series of letter making up a name it's virtually always Zed)
ABC song, is always Zee for me, but I've heard others say Zed her often. To me it's weird because otherwise it doesn't rhyme with "next time won't you sing with me". Oddly if you asked me to say the alphabet backwards though, my first instinct would also be Zee.
the phrase "from A to Zee"
If you asked me what the last letter of the alphabet is, or to spell Zebra, I would say Zee, it seems when referring to the letter alone I pretty consistently use Zee
I just asked my wife to spell Zebra and she said Zee though
At least the British and Americans are consistent, I don't even know what the heck I'm doing here!
Odd how our bodies reach adult height and brains adult size during puberty :-)
You have cherrypicked your sources. All of neurology points to very fact that brains develop very quickly ages 9-13 and then very slow change from that point on.
but that data doesn’t support your bigotry, so you ignore it.
Well i’m trying to experiment a bit. I’m trying to get all the daily shows to come through and auto delete them in 2weeks eg. breakfast shows local news, daily soaps etc. but jellyfin isnt kicking it. Plus for some odd reason the layout on my shieldTV is an absolute disaster 😔 . So just looking to experiment to see what alternatives are about. I did have mythTV running for a while last year, but it seemed very dated.
There are definite reasons why people who step up behind me and take a look at my computer screen either flinch or look at me funny (sometimes both), and I expect people here will have some . . . interesting takes on this as well 😅. The colour choices may make more sense if you know that I’m usually in a low-light...
I wonder why religious conservatives are mostly synonymous with capitalism supporters ? I mean arent most religions inherently socialistic ? What makes conservatives support capitalism , despite not being among the rich?
Because religious conservatism has pretty much always been focused on supporting systems of authority, and in the US the system of authority is capitalism.
People would probably be really surprised to see what ‘heretical’ sects of Christianity were talking about in the first few centuries compared to the version that was green lit by the Roman empire on the notion that political power was divinely intended.
Straight up comments attributed to Jesus decrying dynastic rule (seemingly referred to by Paul in 1 Cor 4), a parable about assassinating a powerful person, discouraging giving any money or rewards to prophets or priests, rejection of prayer and fasting and alms as either useful or necessary, and even discussions around Greek atomism and Lucretius’s version of survival of the fittest.
And that’s all in only one work/tradition.
But it’s one that was buried in a jar for millennia after canonical Christianity was endorsed by the emperor, which followed with deciding what texts to allow and what to ban on eventual penalty of death.
The thing most people in the US believe today is the version that passed the filter of the Roman empire’s oversight and involvement, from killing the initial leader to endorsing the eventual version that’s probably at odds with the original teachings in places.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that it goes hand in hand with boot licking and anti-critical thinking.

A lot of people struggle with figuring out how to get into private trackers since the only way to get into them is to be in a different tracker. Their intentional secrecy with their invite forums also doesn’t help. So I decided to make a guide to explain the process to you.
The best way to climb the ranks is with power user invite forums. Some trackers have them. They may require your account to be a certain age or have a specific amount of upload credit, snatches or uploads. Once you reach those requirements you can join a forum where different trackers advertise themselves and if you meet the requirements you message a recruiter and wait to get in.
Climbing the latter is joining one of these trackers, meeting the requirements to get into the invite forums there, joining another tracker that you either want to be in or that will get you into trackers that you want to be in, then rinse and repeat. You can see the invite forums and requirements for these trackers on r/trackersinfo so you can plan out how you want to get into them.
With no prior experience you can get into trackers with either interviews or open signups. MyAnonamouse (MAM), Orpheus (OPS), and REDacted (RED) all have invite forums and are sites you can get into with an interview. The interview on MAM is dead simple if you know how to read. OPS and RED require more technical skills and you have to actually study for it. If you try cheating they’ll cancel the interview and ask you to admit to it. If you lie you’re never getting into that tracker. You can get into OPS from MAM so you can skip their interview. You can get into RED from OPS too.
Aither, AlphaRatio, AvistaZ, and LST.gg all have open signups from time to time and can get you into other trackers. So look out for those and join them if you can on r/TrackerSignups or the OpenSignups telegram.
The sites out of all of these trackers with the best invite forums are RED, OPS, AlphaRatio, MAM, Aither, LST.gg, and AvistaZ in that order, in terms of the quality of the trackers in the invite forums and your ability to get into better trackers from the ones you can join there.
RED and OPS both require uploads to meet their requirements. Also because of the tough economies and small size of files it can be very difficult to make the requirements without paying for a super fast seedbox, paying to fill requests, uploading a bunch of 2023 FLACs that aren’t already on the site, or spending several months with constant downloads and long term seeding.
Aither and LST.gg both require an absolutely insane amount of upload. Aither requires 10 TB and LST requires 25 TB. So unless you’re downloading and permaseeding a massive amount of torrents with either a seedbox or very good upload speeds, that will take you several years to get to. AlphaRatio requires 3.2 TB which is a lot but doable. However they typically open for signups for only a couple of hours and there’s no guarantee they’ll open again.
MAM is easy like I mentioned, all you have to do is read the rules and do an interview. The interview is more of a chat and isn’t very hard at all. You only need 25GB to get to Power User there which is super easy cause they’re very generous with bonus points. However, with MAM you can’t get into any good trackers from it directly. Only trackers that can get you into other places like Aither and OPS. It’s really up to you which of these are the best. It depends on how much you download and which torrents you actually use.
So is this even worth it? Only if you watch a lot of shows or movies that you can’t get on public trackers or lower rung private trackers that are easy to get into like TorrentLeech, NBL, Aither or LST.gg. You can request content on these trackers too so if you have the odd show or movie you can’t find, try requesting it and see if someone else can find it for you. It’s also worth it if you like high quality content and struggle to get that without higher rung trackers. Otherwise, if most of the content you watch is newer and well seeded, then there’s no real need to do this and it’ll be a massive waste of time.
If you’re someone like me who just wants to have all their shows download automatically without resorting to 480p or scouring the deepest depths of DHT for a torrent with at least 1 seed, then yes it’s worth it. Though if you do end up doing this, pay it forward and upload some of the files from PTs publicly so more people don’t have to do all this bs just to watch the content they like.
