TITLE:
The Feasibility, Acceptability, and Efficacy of Positive Search Training for Irritable Youth: A Single-Case Experimental Design

Although irritability is common in youth, research on treatment is in its infancy. Threat biases are more pronounced in irritable compared to low irritable youth, similar to evidence found in anxious youth. Therefore, interventions targeting these biases may be promising for reducing irritability. This study utilised a multiple baseline case series design to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of positive search training (PST) for irritable children. Three children were included who met criteria for a principal diagnosis of Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), and a secondary diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). PST was feasible with two of the three participants; one child refused to continue after one session. For the two participants who completed PST, acceptability was stable with moderate-to-high ratings of engagement and enjoyment, and high and stable treatment-relevant verbalisations of the key strategies. Both cases showed declines in DMDD severity across treatment and no longer met criteria at post-treatment. Both participants met criteria for Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) at post-treatment (considered less severe for irritability than DMDD). Declines in parent-reported irritability occurred for both cases, however some returns to baseline were observed. Overall, PST for irritable youth shows promise as an acceptable and feasible intervention. Further studies are needed combining PST with strategies for secondary diagnoses, given its high comorbidity with disruptive behaviour disorders.

In a statement, the federation said that it would take the “necessary legal action” and told the female players that “playing for the national team is an obligation on any member of the federation called upon to do so”.
I’m saying I believe they can figure it out amongst themselves without massive international attention. Social media has this tendency to blow things way out of proportion despite not even knowing any of the context. I don’t know what the fair resolution would be, but it seems odd to me that this mans life should be ruined over a kiss.
I seek to min-max the subjective value retrieved from the service/product vs. the amount of data given to the data vultures, while taking alternatives into account.
Some examples, including the ones from the OP:
Lemmy - I’d probably still use Lemmy even if it vultured some of data, as the perceived usefulness of its service is fairly big. However I’d probably start implementing measures against said data vulturing, including: avoiding to speak about certain personal subjects, switching accounts every 2~3 months, bullshitting a bit in the comments, etc. Just like I did in Reddit.
Facebook, Twitter - they harvest so much data that even if they handled users better I’d probably not use them, plus the benefit that I get from their idiotic userbases is fairly small. I’m still fine however opening some link here and there, I just don’t actively interact with those platforms.
Youtube - I’ve been using it nowadays through piped.video, to minimise the amount of data exposed while still watching my videos. If piped didn’t exist I’d probably watch it straight from Youtube, it’s a privacy nightmare but more acceptable than lack of access to videos.
websearch - I look for things in DuckDuckGo first. If DDG didn’t find it, only then I use Google. No Google account, incognito mode (to clean cookies afterwards), location spoofed to Antarctica (mostly due to result relevance).
all - uBlock Origin, canvas blocker, decentraleyes, location guard are always active. And if a site doesn’t work well with those, odds are that it’s wanting too much of my info to be worth my attention, specially if I can get its services from elsewhere.
So when it comes to privacy I try to keep myself safe/private but without going full zealot about it.
I’ve seen a lot of people I know try to avoid Chinese companies but they weren’t concerned about the products which seemed a little odd to me. For example they’d pay $25 for a 6 ft USB C cable at a gas station instead of buying the same cable from Ali Express for a third of the price.
I just use lemmy at this point. I tried mastodon, but as someone who never “got” Twitter, I don’t understand mastodon, either. I’m an odd duck in that I haven’t really participated in social media past 2007 when I deleted all the accounts I had at the time.
I’m not trying to cause an argument but when Reddit pulled it’s bs - I said that’s enough. I gave up my Reddit addiction and didn’t open it or visit the site for over 30 days....
There’s a couple of sports and tech subs I have bookmarked via old.reddit that are still the de facto place for the community, all in a browser with aggressive privacy measures. I check in on them when “stuff happens” in that area, but don’t post and don’t hang around.
Otherwise from the odd search hit, I made a clean break back in June and haven’t really looked back.
Unfortunately, the laws protecting labor have either been directly gutted or intentionally not updated to the point they aren’t useless. Many workers face an uphill battle. Fortunately there are those who are taking up the challenge and pushing forward even if the odds are stacked. Hopefully millennials and following generations will be able to start moving the pendulum back towards workers.
This is shameless self-promotion, but part of a working theory I have that Mastodon users have more to offer Lemmy than your average Reddit user. See my other post about it here: lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/2174573...
Sometimes the conversations just feel disjointed or a little odd. My best guess is that maybe they are missing context when they hop in a thread to comment. Do you (or anyone else really) have any thoughts on it?
Many fixed that, by having to adjust on the fly loading, which speed can vary depending on how often it has to swap. A game that still has odd issues with 8gb vram is Halo Infinite, mainly because its hard to test as the problem arises when getting to the open world part of the game, and requires about 30 minutes to get to the point where it happens. It was discussed in a HUB video a month or two ago. Models and textures like bushes start to look worse from that point on
Games are adjusting assets on the fly, so even though the framerate may seem “normal” the visual quality nowadays might not be.
Jews are an odd outlier as it’s both an ethnicity and a religion and one doesn’t automatically indicate the other. You can have people with no ethnic link who are Jewish by dint of conversation to the religon, and ethnicly Jewish people who are entirely athiest. anti-Semitism is about racism against ethnicly Jewish people, not criticism of the religion.
I have a friend who’s alcohol consumption has gotten out of control. Me and his other friends/family are planning an intervention and so I’ve been doing a lot of research/reading on the topic....
Not just online, my friend. I got sober around the beginning of last baseball season. Thought I could turn the volume down on cravings that day by turning on a game.
“Welcome back to the broadcast, sponsored by Truly Hard Seltzer. Now let’s take a look at the Miller Lite home run replay brought to you by Jack Daniel’s Fire, cinnamon infused whiskey.”
Interventions are tough. When I was intervention-ed, it felt like no one was on my team, like this is what they’re supposed to do. I even went to rehab, but my heart was not in it. At all. Zero percent.
The second time I went, it was for me, not just to appease the endlessly talking heads all around me. Interventions walk that odd line between we’re here for you in support, also, you’re going somewhere because we care. Like the intervention is a favor.
At least for me. Others obviously experience it differently. I’d be willing to bet there’s a lot of failed recoveries because of interventions and AA though. It might be because gasp people might have mental, emotional, and even genetic reasons. We aren’t just a clump of people called alcoholics that need help to stop drinking.
That’s like claiming “hey, I stopped beating my wife!” You don’t get credit for that. You’re not supposed to do that. Maybe there’s a mental health issue? Maybe it’s the environment? Interventions are not typically about anything but “hey you, stop”.
Sadly that’s not enough. Anybody thinking about it, the rehab is actually fun, then come the doctors and therapy to help straighten you out for realsies. 15 months for me. To anyone just starting the process, I will not drink with you today!
For critics of widening projects, the prime example of induced demand is the Katy Freeway in Houston, one of the widest highways in the world with 26 lanes....
I feel in the suburbs where you have cookie cutter houses that all have garburators it must add a little bit of load. How does it compare to municipally run composting?
I’ve got all the wiring etc. for one, but chose not to install, opting for municipal composting instead. The odd time that I need to macerate, I just run stuff through my blender.
Whatsapp is just a text service that gained popularity because it bypassed expensive text messaging rates, and it’s superior to SMS in most ways anyways. If meta starts charging people will go somewhere else. It’s odd to hear this take that people are somehow dependant on it. It’s more replaceable than a pair of shoes.
I hit 40 not too long ago and I’m feeling it too. Arthritis in hips and hands flares up occasionally and makes life unpleasant. The only thing I’ve found that relaxing helps is managing inflammation through (a) reducing sugar intake, and (b) consuming spicy foods and healthy doses of cinnamon.
I put red pepper flakes or sriracha or sweet Thai chili sauce in anything that can bear it. Oddly enough, just eating cinnamon toast crunch cereal (store brand even) every morning has also helped immensely. When I run out and have to eat something else, I notice a definite uptick in arthritis symptoms.
Edit: Im asking because I’m currently going through some serious depression and I’ve been forgetting stuff lately. I wake up every morning with a panic attack, I am too tired to do anything. I barely had any appetite to eat. I just wanted to see if I’m the only one. Hearing stories from others makes me feel less alone....
Lmao so his name is Mac, yes… and we call him Macaroni all the time 😂. What are the odds?
The kitchen floor story lmao. I’m picturing a cat sliding around on its tummy. I’ve seen cats do similar, or they’ll lay on their side and pull themselves around by the paws on the side of a couch or something.
I wonder that sometimes. We have another orange cat named Momo and I say his name all the time. When he meows, he always does a dual meow that sounds vaguely like “Momo”. It makes me wonder if he’s meowing in the same way his name sounds.
