'Star Trek' Franchise Reboot: Simon Kinberg Eyed for Paramount Movie

So now this just sounds like a Trek prequel, not specifically a Kelvin prequel.

@usernamefactory @startrek I don't know if I agree with that premise. I've run into any number of people who became Trek fans in general by starting with Kelvin.

That said, I don't know that breaking the movies into more timelines is a great idea.

And I personally would be skeptical that anything from the proposed movies would ever turn into a TV series. They are really operating in separate spaces right now. And P+ is shedding series faster than they're adding them.

usernamefactory ,

Now that I’ve thought about it some more, it’s unlikely the movies would be making any decisions based off of what’s best for the streaming shows. That would probably be seen as the tail wagging the dog.

That said, I’ve definitely encountered people who enjoyed the films but skipped the shows on account of not knowing where to start and finding the relationship too confusing. It would make sense to pair a successful “early days” movie with an “early days” spinoff series to lure some of that casual audience to streaming.

This has a lot more to do with consumption than with production. Most of these islands are small, and it’s unrealistic for them to have large populations or a heavy tourist industry without desalination plants. Energy needs to become cheap, and honestly, wind farms and solar can help with this.

EatATaco ,

I’m the article they point to a lot of factors as to why this is now becoming an issue: increase urbanization, increased industries, increased tourism.

They do say collecting rainwater is probably part of the solution, but if the other things keep on growing that won’t always be the case.

@rachelnabors yeah. I don't remember if you've mentioned taking an autism assessment test, but if not: https://embrace-autism.com/autism-tests/ It's WAY under-diagnosed in AFAB folks. If you're autistic, learning what autistic self-care looks like is literally life-changing.

also the "@actuallyautistic" group regularly has people discussing WTFs they encounter like this. I like it, if for no other reason than being reminded that "it's not just me". ;)

During the 17th century British diplomatic activities expanded and British were considered to conduct ad hoc diplomatic negotiations at foreign , although lacking clearly defined professional boundaries and assignments or institutional structures. At the same time, British commenced building networks of resident and agents who among other tasks gathered information, shaped amicable relations to their hosts and represented and protected British commercial interests. The personnel for example were British upper classes who could meet the requirements for ceremonial knowledge, but were not trained in international relations or the duties of in particular. Thus, while European became increasingly professionalised, British diplomacy remained stuck in an increasingly outmoded understanding of ceremonial and social capital. (6/6)

I was bored so I did the unthinkable. Well, to me it was always unthinkable as I have always been anti- . But, out of curiosity I subscribed to -4o and have been feeding various essays, poems, and posts from my various websites and asking for explications and such. And wow does have a great deal of just wonderful things to say about me. I will admit getting all this truly high praise is seducing.

I am so glad this was not around when I was in school. First colleges across the country started shutting down extensive courses/programs and now this. Oh, what a loss of a good .

Just sent out “Rising Resistance" to beta readers! So glad to have revisions off my plate. It's always the slowest part of writing for me. I don't dislike it, I add a ton of material, but it's a slog.

I see. Well for me too, Xorg offered all the features I need and is still more well supported than Wayland in some areas, but on my system Wayland has so much better performance. On Xorg I was having mouse lags, on Wayland it's just smooth.

anybody know of some novels or series with themes including the good side of humanity? I really like for that, where the human heart is challenged yet prevails.

Not necessarily looking for Sci-Fi but not excluding it either. Maybe something historical or steampunky would be cool. 😅
