Spent about 2 hrs so far with AAA and an insurance agency with neither of them giving me quotes.
What a racket. The law requires us to have insurance, I drive well enough that the only payout insurance has ever made in my entire lifetime was when my insurance company actually didn't contest something they should have contested (a driver rear-ended me). It's pretty much free money for them and they still don't want to come through with a quote in a timely manner.
For 2024 our auto insurer added a very detailed clause prohibiting use of the vehicle for Uber, etc. I suspect people who were driving for those services just weren’t notifying their insurers, but that will be a lot harder in future. It probably took a while for the big insurers to hammer out those clauses with state regulators.
For the commercial policy they probably want the applicant to be some form of corporate entity, whether LLC or some form of corp.

Domain facing massive e-mail spoofing attacks: Can something be done?

I am running my own mailserver using Mailcow and I noticed, since mid-January, a huge rise of e-mail address spoofing attacks, in three ways:
(1) a lot of spam ends up in the inbox despite having rspamd.
(2) a few undelivered e-mail errors
(3) some e-mails with rubbish content sent to public administrations, with my e-mail address mentioned in the "via" field, but different sender address (possibly from a third hacked mailserver), end up in my inbox as well.
My mailserver doesn't seem to have been hacked BTW, as e-mails were sent today and the last connection to the SMTP service was 2 days ago according to Mailcow admin UI.
Here are my questions:
(1) Does the address spoofing make that rubbish mail end up in the recipients' inbox?
(2) Is it shown as being sent by me or by the third hacked mailserver?
(3) Is there a way to block the incoming spam using that technique in rspamd?
(4) Can this spoofing attack impact my domain name's reputation (blacklist, ...?)
(5) Last but not least, do you think I could get in legal trouble given the fact attackers seem to spoof my e-mail to target public administrations of my country (France, in case that matters)? If so, what could prove neither me nor my mailserver are faulty?
I am respecting all the good practices for e-mail security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and even signing my emails with an S/MIME cert). Oh and my server isn't an open relay ^_^
If you’re small you won’t have a reputation. It’s why they are not targeted. By default they’ll go to junk.
Dkim/spf will help you out. You’ll end up being blacklisted over it. You don’t send enough email to have a true reputation.
Most spam filters for companies like Microsoft/proofpoint/mimecast will just end up adding your IP to the email firewall. That’ll be dropped on delivery.
If SPF, DKIM and DMARC are properly configured, emails sent by any server other than your own will be rejected by the receiving server. Have you had complaints or is this just showing up in DMARC logs?
#RomanceReviews 4: I'm going with a palate cleanser of an actual #romance this time: Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert. I listened to the previous book in the series and it was sweet, hilarious, and British (they chose the narrator well).
I'm expecting this to be a straight, interracial romance with at least one neurodivergent character.

As expected going in, it was sweet, hilarious, interracial and British. So British. The banter had me cackling repeatedly as I tried to do housekeeping. This was a little bit of an enemies-to-lovers plotline.
Both (straight) neurodivergents were really truly into each other. This was what I think of as a true romance, with deep emotional and sexual attraction.
Him: “Is it terrible that I’m going to fuck you on this desk?”
Also him: “He wanted inside her confetti-strewn head every chance he got. It was the only foreign country he could remember wanting to visit.”

It really depends on how it was cracked and the use case of the app. Some of them may have it patched out but others won’t. Play it safe unless you know for sure.
Instead of answering, I went through all the responses thus far and made a spreadsheet of the answers. (This is absolutely non-scientific and possibly inaccurate, plus there's no data as to how well these strategies worked, but hey, I was curious and thought maybe others might be interested too.)

@ElisesWritings@RubyJones I haven’t heard of reading and reviewing as a marketing strategy, though I do a ton of reading and reviewing when I can, mostly to spread the word about amazing books, as well as to fill the creative well, study craft through incredible storytelling, and to find similar books to target for ads, etc (If you like X and Y try Z— and if you like X or Y but haven’t tried the other, do that too!)
@skaeth@RubyJones it struck me because I wonder if the odds of hitting your target audience with in-genre reviews on review sights are better than posting to anyone and everyone you do (or don't) interact with on social media. I'm guessing its impact is hard to track though.
I should do more of the latter, but with an epic, portal, YA Fantasy with incidentally queer characters, limited romance & initially low magic... non high-risk-of-misleading ones are pricks to find 😆

There's just this feeling I get here that the admins have a fucking agenda. And I could be wrong. But I hate bullshiters who won't tell it like it is.

And I'm tired of the fucking arrogant attitude that some how running a server and being an admin makes you important in some way as if you're going to be the next elon musk or something. Get over yourselves.
It really feels that there is an ulterior motive based on what I see in the matrix chats.
Admins are not being transparent about there motives.
I'm on pretty much all of the lemmy matrix chats, and all they talk about is restricting the users experience, banning, defederating, purging accounts when they ban them so the user doesn't see why they were banned, and any everything that will put them in a position of power.
I also feel like they have accounts on all the other instances and post other bullshit trying to push their agenda and make these changes seem like a good idea.
Admins, quit fucking bullshitting like you're trying not to be like reddit. Yall seem to wet your panties at the idea of basically being in complete and total control of everything and Ban who ever you want based on your political ideologies.

I personally moved from lemmy.world because I don’t like their defederation policy. I also block all beehaw communities because I don’t think they’re acting in the interest of the lemmyverse. You don’t have to agree with any of that, but that’s the beauty of self-agency. Join whatver instance you want, block whatever you want, hell, use lemmy or kbin only if you agree with its policies.

I’ve been playing Heart of the Machine, and really enjoying it. It’s a fascinating 4x ish in a future city, in a bit of an inversion of AI Wars (same developer). Before playing, I was merely intrigued, but now I’m excitedly awaiting where it goes. It was, however, initially difficult to figure out what to do. Perhaps more UX is going to be useful here.
I’ve been playing Enotria: The Last Song. So far seems like a solid souls like but it has wicked performance issues right now. I’m really digging the vibe of the main demo city but I’m barely hitting 40fps on low settings with an RTX 3070ti

There have been rumors/controversies about the next #totalwar Warhammer 3 DLC, while I don't personally believe them, it's true that we're reaching the lifecycle end of this franchise, I'm thinking of a contingency plan, I've played this series since 2017, and to replace with something else is going to take a while.
Still, here are some of my ideas, and I would like to hear others from the community
I absolutely love disciples 2 and would highly recommend it. The unit progression trees give it a lot of replayability. Even though the third instalment gets worse reviews it’s also pretty good and has some nice graphics and a more dynamic battlefield. Maybe consider its competition as well (heroes of might and magic and eador). There is a far east themed 4x game called oriental empires that also has interesting army mechanics. Humankind and millennia sound like titles that should at least be mentioned even if you already pointed out that you don’t like paradox.

Definitely, AP is not magic. But if even within one protocol round-tripping and full-fidelity is impossible or very difficult, that makes it only harder and less likely through a bridge.
Yea a complete protocol to protocol bridge seems far off for sure. But a platform to platform bridge seems to be working fine for the moment (masto-bsky), and that seems a reasonable expectation.
