I'm creating an extra credit question and I'm mocking up studies that sound good in media reporting but when you look closer, they're heavily flawed. I already did a scenario of teen social media and mental health. Suggestions for others that would be covered as causal in media?

lalage OP ,
@lalage@mastodon.nl avatar

Hi Uair, welcome and thanks for the follow! I don't know what you mean by "group" but yes, this online community has been amazing for me, too. It's really like finding one's people 💛

There are some good hashtags to follow, like , and also a pretty active group, @actuallyautistic

Great to have you on board!

@nellie_m @Uair @instance@relay.fedi.buzz @actuallyautistic not sure either - and now I'm nervous. I thought the whole place was, I mean the site name says "neurodifferent dot me." I haven't been hashtagging, I've just been talking as though everyone is Autistic, letting it all hang out, as we used to say. 😬

Mezzo (Calle di) – Curiosità Veneziane

“Mezzo (Calle di) in Ruga Giuffa, a S. Maria Formosa.” from Curiosità Veneziane by Giuseppe Tassini

@info A while ago I wrote about the Insta-famous blue door in Venice, and this is where I found the first clues.

The "Curiosità Veneziane" by Giuseppe Tassini is a treasure trove of information about Venice before the 1900s. The first editions, from 1863 and 1872, are digitised and online.

The Italian is a bit archaic but perfectly understandable.

I've put the entire fourth edition online here, searchable and geo-tagged:

A multi-parter:

Which Star Trek character has the best hair?

Which Star Trek character's hair do you think you could pull off on your own head?

If you aren't sure, and want to share pictures of yourself, we can all help you guess.

I via When She’s Ready by Ruby Dixon. The audiobook is both When She’s Ready and When She’s Lonely. Both are very pro-consent post-slavery human-alien . I find these Risdaverse entertaining & mostly safe, more so than her other series. (I ❤️Ruby even when it’s scary.) @romancebooks

I want to add something to this post about the 2nd in this compilation: When She’s Lonely by Ruby Dixon. The FMC in this story has significant hearing loss that impacts her daily quality of life. If you look for stories of MCs with disabilities, and like or at least accept human-alien & sex, I recommend this. I recommend it anyway, but especially if this is in your areas of interest. @romancebooks @romancelandia

Meta didn’t say why, but the EU’s Digital Markets Act could be the culprit.

They could comply with the DMA by opening up Facebook Messenger to everyone (for example by reintroducing XMPP), so no this is not because of the DMA (besides the “look at what you made me do” abuser’s mantra), it’s because Facebook will stop at nothing to trap users in their platforms.

Morning Mastodonians!

I pretty much 100% recovered from my bout with the COVID. Slight sniffle, but then again, I spend pretty much the entire winter with one, so who knows? Seems like the rest of the family, even the unboosted one, has avoided my fate, which is great. Probably shouldn't go back to hockey tomorrow though, at least if I'm reading the CDC guidelines correctly. I'll just wait until next Tuesday to get back on the ice.

jda OP ,

I've been playing the Guardians of the Galaxy computer game. It's a strange one. 🤔 It has a bit of combat and some character progression, but it really is more about puzzle-solving and plot(!) than a real RPG. It even has quicktime events, which I thought disappeared years ago. Still fun though. And 4 Guys Co-op had a long session of Serious Sam 4 but we couldn't get level 3 finished. I may have to ease the difficulty a bit. @videogames

Also been getting plenty of reading done in my last week of freedom. I finished The Swerve, which was a fascinating (no really!) look at a medieval humanist and his efforts to uncover ancient texts, including a pivotal book by the Roman philosopher Lucretius, On The Nature Of Things, which the author posits as "How The World Became Modern". No really, it's great stuff! I've started on the 2nd Cormoran Strike book, The Silkworm. @bookstodon
