Oh wow someone is selling this clearly excellent guide to growing potatoes.
POTAATO
(wave it over the soil and coax the roots into existence. Then you have a plant. This plant will grow illogically. At some point it will send you an email. )
I'm an alien in a human suit. I don't know how to human. So I copy. People I'm with. People from tv shows, movies, games, podcasts. Mostly the latter since my social contacts are not really... existing these days.
I was always the oddball, the one that was a bit weird. So I copied. To fit in. Now I'm 47, and I have no idea who I am. Wonder if I'll ever meet me. The real me. Would be nice.
@undefined_variable I refuse to give up on that tiny sliver of hope that I'm just an alien with amnesia, stranded on a fucked up planet, and will one day again be with my people. 🙈 At least it's good to know I'm not alone. 👽 👋
I couldn’t find 1 mention to a community, or a project. So much text in the web or the PDFs for what? I’d have loved to see anything, like a device to measure contamination in water. Anyway, I guess that’s how it is with blind science powered by savior complex. Sorry to be flaming this post, it angries me. Can anyone mention one such example of enriching or addressed needs for a community?
Is there any real or serious conversation or work around the idea of a feature-full social media browser?
Basically something like a web browser but for “all the social media” along with useful organisation features too.
For locked down big social APIs, this makes less sense nowadays, but for open alt-social systems, it is likely the most valuable promise of such systems that they can become like the web, reachable through an awesome all-in-one app.
I don’t particularly understand the value of RSS readers at all
Notifications are the value for me. I don’t have to regularly check infrequently-updated sites if my RSS reader pings me whenever there’s a new post. Largely a different use-case to social media though.
Short: In the game you have the option to supplement pops with robots and eventually turn your pops into machines. It’s also a 40k mechanicus joke.
Long: Machines will supplement workforce. So we don’t need more pops when the pops are getting more efficient. Having too many spares will just add more food demand which will drain resources better allocated elsewhere. Have to balance growth with jobs and resources if you want to win. Min max FTW!
I should add, for completeness sakes, I am not without my own periods of assholery.
I do constantly strive to avoid it.. but occasionally, it rears its ugly head(s).
However, I go on record to say I've never been a major asshole.. just a minor garden variety asshole.. espousing my strongly held opinons over trivial matters blown out of all proportion :) hehe
““This kind of AI that can reproduce content similar to what it ingested poses an existential threat to the writing profession and to the publishing industry—if it’s unchecked,” says Mary Rasenberger, CEO of the Authors Guild. “A lot of people who aren’t in the industry don’t realize how precarious the profession is and how uneven the business is.” https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/books/a61485201/books-ai-lawsuits/
