HOW, Bobby?
Explain to me EXACTLY how Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard will ENABLE competition?
You ARE the “entrenched market leaders,” you unlikeable buffoon. #gaming
@Graham_LRR I love the “our merger will benefit workers…” as if Microsoft won’t immediately layoff hundreds or thousands of Activision Blizzard employees like it’s done to most other parts of its business for the better part of the last few years.
I'm trying to figure out how to stop having to unblock the pihole, in order to bypass cookie consent alerts. I think this is a devious new attempt by the advertising brigade to ensure that adverts are played, but more and more cookie consent blockers are not working properly if you've got an adblocker, and as I've got one at the network level, this is a real frustration. I've tried a few browser-based bypassers, but that doesn't work for many mobile devices, and sort of defeats the purpose of havign a network-level adblocker...
Has anyone else hit this issue and how have you worked around it?
Tfw you nostalgically replay one of your old favourite games, and this time around you relate to the grumpy, recluse NPC who lives outside of town in his tiny, cosy home, and just doesn't want to be arsed.
Just wanted to say that I love how people are using the upvote and downvote feature here as they don't seem to be used as agreement/disagreement but rather valuable or hindering to the conversation.
I really feel like I can express any opinion on here and start controversial discussions as long as I'm not malicious to anyone.
Disagreements are mostly stated in replies which promotes conversation and growth. There is currently no reason to be scared about being wrong.
I hope that this is not just a product of the smaller userbase compared to reddit but rather how upvotes/downvotes/boosts are laid out to the user.
With the #redditMigration, I've been looking around for a way to self host my own #lemmy or #kbin instance, and just like with #Mastodon, the instructions and requirements are prohibitive.
There's no Docker container, official or otherwise
No Docker compose file, let alone a helm chart
There are instead long, painful instructions on how to self-host on a bare metal instance you have to maintain manually, like it's 2003.
I had 3 communities I was trying to build up and now, nothing. I finally made a new Lemmy account, but I don’t know if I want to restart those communities.
I’m thinking about starting my own instance (with blackjack and hookers of course) but that has its own set of headaches. I just want to make content, not spend my day being an admin.
yea, im still hoping that vlemmy’s just having some major technical issues and will come back soon but judging by some evidence (mainly the donation/github pages being deleted), i dont know if that’ll ever happen
I discovered him as a teenager in the late 2000s, and was surprised to rediscover him recently that he’s still reviewing Star Trek, and other sci-fi shows like The Orville, etc. Love his reviews even if I don’t always agree.
Also apparently he was invited to pitch stories to the Voyager writing crew, but they all sucked so they were not bought.
I remember earlier today the admin made an announcement post about defederating from burgitt.moe and purging their illicit material from the servers, in order to stay in compliance with Irish law. It’s possible that’s what the downtime is for, but I’m not sure.
Spent a couple hours with #BaldursGate3 today. I love the dialogue animations. The characters feel like characters instead of talking heads spewing voice lines. It's one of the few games I've played in a the last year or so that feels "next gen" (whatever that means in 2023) in fit and finish.
That’s encouraging. Divinity: Original Sin 2 (their previous game) had a few rough edges, but overall was the best RPG I had played in a long time. I’m looking forward to their take on D&D. (Not going to touch it until it’s out of early access, though.)
