Anyone know what’s going on with VLemmy.net?
@fediverse @fediverse

TheSaneWriter ,

I remember earlier today the admin made an announcement post about defederating from burgitt.moe and purging their illicit material from the servers, in order to stay in compliance with Irish law. It’s possible that’s what the downtime is for, but I’m not sure.

Spent a couple hours with today. I love the dialogue animations. The characters feel like characters instead of talking heads spewing voice lines. It's one of the few games I've played in a the last year or so that feels "next gen" (whatever that means in 2023) in fit and finish.

ono ,

That’s encouraging. Divinity: Original Sin 2 (their previous game) had a few rough edges, but overall was the best RPG I had played in a long time. I’m looking forward to their take on D&D. (Not going to touch it until it’s out of early access, though.)

derskusmacher OP ,

@ono It'll be interesting to see if the quality remains high throughout the whole experience, which is supposedly very long.

I kept all of my original Halo and Assassin’s Creed game boxes and have them just displayed on a shelf in the office. And SSX Tricky!

They are little windows into my past and memories of my favourite franchises as I was coming of age and learning to be an adult.

Good memories.

@britt SSX Tricky? Oh wow that brings me back. I had so much fun with that game.

@apps is it possible to subscribe to the timelin of a account (like @startrek with a lot of postings per day) using without having those postings flooding my personal timeline?

I'm worried to flood my personal timeline and on the other hand it is possible to put an instances timeline on a list without directly following it.

ValueSubtracted ,
@ValueSubtracted@startrek.website avatar

I think you could follow it, but also mute it.

To be honest, though, I find the overall experience is better with separate accounts for Mastodon and Lemmy.

Mastodon 4.1.4 allows hiding list contents from home. The feed is disordered, and is sometimes lacking context, but I find it minimally workable.

I really wanted host this in the fediverse.
I struggled through the signup process.
Not able to make it public so was finally forced to put it on youtube.

@Candelestine @FediVideo has got it going.
I'll eventually figure it out.
I'd prefer to do as much as possible in the so when I post elsewhere it's through the fediverse and hopefully helps spread.

Love the little song! Getting inspired and musical myself here. 🎵

I'm studying ways of ween myself off of corporate media.

Of these, I've used ( and use Vimeo ). Really love it. High resolution video, streamed fast, nothing stupid to occlude your content.

Pet peeve of the day: Games with "puzzles" that can only be solved by trying a bunch of different plausible answers.

If you know the right answer (but not that it is the right answer), and the reasoning behind the right answer, but you still can't tell that it's the right answer without engaging the games mechanic to check if it's the right answer, it's not a puzzle. It's just a game a brute forcing answers.

Duchess ,
@Duchess@yiffit.net avatar

Yeah a puzzle where the majority of players resort to trial and error is not a well designed one.

AshDene OP ,
@AshDene@kbin.social avatar

@Yazer The immediate "puzzle" that inspired this complaint was "Conundrum Unsolved" from Pathfinder Wrath of The Righteous

I miss /r/ukgardening, does anyone have anything similar?

All the gardening replacements are US centric which isn't really relevant for advice in UK, nice pictures though.

Whats stopping you making the community yourself?

snailtrail , (edited )

This is something my wife always complains about, so much so that I’ve gotten a kagi account and set up a specific search category for gardening that bans certain sites and excludes hits where words contain American spelling. One thing that might be interesting is a list of translated gardening resources from other nearby countries. I’m sure the flora and fauna in the rest of North-West Europe can’t be that different?

Here’s an example: I translated the phrase “my hawthorn will not bloom” into French and searched for the resulting phrase. Found a website and translated it back to English: www-jardiner--malin-fr.translate.goog/…/amp?_x_tr…
