Anyone with more on this private medical clinic in that I was alerted about today?
Alerted by a friend who was told by her family physician that if she wanted to remain a patient that she needs to pay $1500 first.
That sounds illegal & in violation of federal health act.

Can anyone in BC please tell me more about legalities of this??

Image from Perpetual Healthcare in Victoria. Pop-up window says they are accepting private pay patients & to click to fill out intake form.

@chris I thought that was kinda illegal, when she started telling me about her/her husband's horrific & what they felt as blackmail billing.

They weren't expecting to be hit like that. She's been going to walk-ins since being told to pay $1500 to remain a patient. I'm trying to help her get a new family doc ATM. Both her & her husband are elderly & need a family doctor who will help them manage their health.

@msquebanh it is so so hard to find a family doctor. My longtime doctor passed away a few years ago and we really haven’t found one since.

Weird question, but is anybody in my reach on Mastodon a native-speaker of Oceanic languages?

(that's Hawaiian, Samoan, Fijian, related or nearby Polynesian/Micronesian languages, which I say to clarify the question for other people in the middle who might be forwarding it, not because anyone who speaks one will need the clarification)

This is not for anything big; I'm just trying to get some POV about how folks refer to the alphabet & diacritic marks.

@BBCRD what is the current status of the baptools project?

"The Broadcast Audio Production Tools set currently includes an implmentation of a BBC peak programme meter (PPM), a loudness meter, and a audio time offset calculator."

@dec23k Hi! It's not something that is really maintained any more, but it is still available on SourceForge.

@dec23k@mastodon.ie avatar

@BBCRD
I suppose that the EBU R128 standard has now completely taken over from the more traditional "shall peak six unto" on the PPM scale.

Something I've noticed while playing is that the further I progress, the less I want to fight enemies. It's no big deal killing everything I see when my weapon is stick with a rock attached but now that I'm running around with pristine weapons with lynel horns I don't want to use them on random enemies.

I find carrying a variety of weapon tiers avoids this problem. Also, sneak attacks, environmental kills, fire, confusion, sages, trampling…

I should perhaps provide a little more detail... This is a yarn by Tyson Yunkaporta on his podcast The Other Others. Usually he does conversations with other guests, but in this one he's yarning with just the listener.

In it he talks about his recent reimagining of Beethoven's Fidelio: https://www.theguardian.com/advertiser-content/sydney-symphony-orchestra--simone-young-conducts-beethoven-s-fidelio/tyson-yunkaporta-is-reimagining-beethoven

But it is sooooo much more than that. It is gripping and surprising and moving and you just have to listen: https://lnns.co/2CIyqbRi_uE

Been Alpha, and now Closed Beta testing an new MMO, Palia. (https://www.palia.com/). It's a "casual" MMO more around crafting and community building than the typical "Murder Hobo" dynamic. If it sounds interesting, check it out. If you do sign up, use my link (below) because I can get some cool in-game stuff if you do and you'll get an in-game fruit basket when it goes open Beta.

At Vulcon 30 last weekend, there was a silent auction for private dinners ‘for you and 4 friends’ with Bruce Horak and Emily Coutts.

Vulcan AB certainly seems to have a vibe.
