Why not do this for Ukraine, who is in way more need?

funkless_eck ,

the specific political mechanism in question only relates to sales of arms, not donations.

This is not a comment on whether that’s good or not, simply that they are different political processes.

Thanks for clarifying, I didn’t know that.

If they actually wanted to keep dumping resources into Ukraine they’d find a political mechanism that would let them do that too.

funkless_eck ,

they have. it’s being held up by other processes.

Yeah the process of Ukraine collapsing and US moving on to a new war without skipping a beat. Absolutely amazing how US keeps doing this, and there are still people out there who can’t see the pattern.

funkless_eck ,

again, it’s not a comment on whether it’s good or bad, but objectively there is a mechanism for sending aid to Ukraine.

I personally think we could invest factors more money and eqpt to them, but I also recognize even though I think we should do something, the reality is it has to go through the political machine.

There is also a standard mechanism for sending arms to Israel that’s being bypassed. What Biden is doing is using a loophole so he can keep the genocide going. That’s what’s happening. I guess Joe must get off on seeing kids blown up, and he just wasn’t getting that in Ukraine.

Because they realize that project Ukraine has run its course and they’re now discarding Ukraine like a used condom. Amazing how people still haven’t figured that out yet.

Remember kids, Biden is powerless to forgive student loan debt without congressional approval. 🤡

Literally the only good thing Biden is doing.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The State Department has also used the emergency provision at least two times since 2022 to rush arms to Ukraine for its defense against Russia’s invasion.

The United Nations Security Council this month adopted a resolution that called for more aid to reach civilians in Gaza but, to gain support from Washington, stopped short of imposing a cease-fire.

The State Department’s move is certain to anger some Democratic lawmakers, who have criticized the Biden administration for unconditionally supporting a war in which Israel has killed a large number of Palestinian civilians, following terrorist attacks by Hamas.

Senator Tim Kaine, Democrat of Virginia, asked on social media early Saturday why the administration would bypass congressional authority on weapons sales to any nation.

The Department of Defense said in a statement on Friday that Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken had “provided detailed justification to Congress that an emergency exists that requires the immediate sale” to Israel.

The war started on Oct. 7 when Hamas launched cross-border attacks in Israel, killing at least 1,200 people, according to the Israeli authorities.
