Lol, it’s still got hundreds of thousands playing.
Theres some angry outrage for sure, but it don’t think it’s gonna wind up that bad in the end.
It’s annoying, but it’s like an Origin account for an EA game or something. At least with crossplay, having one admin team to manage bans on both platforms makes sense to streamline things.
I know. I’m going to be playing tonight. I didn’t bat an eye at this announcement… Mainly because it’s been known since day one. People are acting like this is new information. And I don’t care if less people play. Still will have plenty of players. I play with cross play turned off on PS5 to avoid cheaters anyway… so this literally isn’t going to change anything for me.
They already sold many times more than they ever expected.
there’s third party tools that seem to be able to back up your categories and restore them, so for anyone who’s put an effort into the categories and doesn’t want it to disappear, look into it. personally i didn’t trust these third party tools enough, so now i only have automated categories, and favorites for the stuff i care about right now.
If so, Garry’s Mod is almost cheating. There’s a bit of everything in it.
So that and Warframe. I picked up WF ten years ago and it’s still in my top ten recently played games. Though I have a love/hate relationship with the Metagame it turned into, it still remains.
Farmframe is pretty solid pick. Ever growing amount of content to play and collect, plus the gameplay is fun. For me it’s kind of missing a reason to farm all the stuff though, but I’ve also stuck with it on and off about 9 years now
To be honest, I stopped being a “qualified player” a few years ago. Nowadays I load up a nice long Survival round, usually against Infested to chew on, with whatever Frame I’ve forgotten how to play, to enjoy the loop without stress. So I’m not in it to farm all the stuff either. Or, I’ll play the story quest if a new one is out, since they are pretty well scaled for solo play and/or give you what you need.
Other than that I just can’t compete. I tripped some time ago and didn’t keep up with the latest meta builds, so now I struggle to have the things “required” to effectively participate in public sessions or the latest missions. And don’t even get me started on Rivens, Shards, Liches or whatever.
If I join a Zariman round I’ll probably die. Not as much now that I have Titania, but I’m also not clearing rooms in a single volley like everyone else.
I’m a filthy casual and I still find a way to have fun, so there’s something there worth keeping.
It’s weird. I would say it feels very unpolished, yet at the same time, it works way better than I would have thought for an early access monster collector. It totally feels like a meme, but it’s actually quite fun at the same time. I don’t think I’ll play it forever, but it’s definitely my addiction this week. I only downloaded it because a friend suggested it, it has Pokemon elements, and it’s included in game pass so I had nothing to lose, but I’ve already put probably 15 hours into it this weekend.
I keep hearing “pokemon elements” is there actually the move selection, level system and typing strategy that went into Pokemon? Cause as fun as monster collecting is, if the combat lacks depth idk how long the game will last.
There is typing weakness and resistance. Each Pal can have 3 moves and you can swap out the moves from whatever they know and you can also teach them moves using move fruits (aka TMs). However you don’t directly control your Pals. It’s real time action based combat. So you are running around shooting and dodging and your active Pal is doing the same all on their own. So no, it’s not a pokemon game, it just has some elements of it in the form of catching, leveling, learning moves, breeding, and having some pals prove utility skills.
The combat definitely lacks depth, but they have also provided other gameplay elements to offset. Base building is a big one. Your Pals can be assigned to do jobs in your base, and different pals are capable of different tasks. It’s first and foremost a survival game and setting up base automation is a core part of that. Your base occasionally gets raided by wild pals or bad NPCs that you have to fight off.
I actually agree that I don’t think this game will last long, for me at least. But that’s fine. Not every game needs to be a forever game. For $26 on steam (or included in game pass), I’ve already had enough enjoyment out of it just in the last few days to make up the cost. I mean, that’s pretty much the cost of going to see a movie.
The trailer reminded me of that other game craftopia that really didn’t click with me. Pulled up the trailer for that and wouldn’t you know it, same developer. Craftopia still isn’t out of early access and sits at a comfortable 57% (recent) steam user rating. So I doubt I’ll get palworld.
FWIW, I tried to like Craftopia and it didn’t click, but I’m really enjoying Palworld. If you enjoy Pokemon you should be able to get your money’s worth.
Honest opinion: Gameplay mechanics are really interesting, visuals are quite good. If you ever wanted a “pokemon but without keeping it kids friendly” game, this might scratch that itch just fine.
I didn’t got deep into this game, but it has a noticable lack of direction. The game doesn’t tell you what to do aside from the basic base building; but I like it.
Oh also, it’s quite buggy in this state and crashed occasionally; so you might want to give it a few more updates before buying if you dislike that.
When steam first came out I considered it a nuisance. I had bought half life 2 on disc and was pissed that I had to download a storefront for the game to run. It’s still kind of bs from the POV an old-head gamer, ngl, but here we are in 2023 and it irritates me when a game isn’t on steam lol.
Abandon the FOMO completely. I do not reward shitty behavior. Destiny 2's launch was the end of that. Let other people pay top dollar to playtest it and work all the wrinkles out. Let all the DLC come out and the game GOTY edition if it's that good. Let others buy that. THEN, when they are going to launch the sequel, all of that pap will be sold at basement-level prices. Maybe wait a bit longer if it was really popular.
I'm playing Divinity: Original Sin 2 right now. ;-)
Meh AC3 was a complete game you didn’t enjoy (valid reason not to pre-order still!) so I’d say it’s less flagrant than destiny et al which nickel and dime you as they manufacture FOMO. Bungie’s list of sins is much longer lol
The studio told the Wachowskis it was going to be made with or without them.
The result was a movie about beloved characters being ripped out of the past unnaturally and turned into something they’re not by a program that only cares about his personal benefit at everyone else’s expense. Lara reburied the franchise for a time successfully while telling an actually decent story about why it shouldn’t exist.
It was a good condemnation of greed killing art, that made itself clear in a lot of ways that it didn’t want to be considered part of the same story.
The concept was such a good idea; movie started off strong. But in typical Wachowski sequel fashion, they seemly couldn’t figure out what to do with the second half of the film, and just threw in whatever filler they could to be done with it. (At least it felt that way to me.)
The concept probably would have worked better for them as a short. They don’t know how to write a feature-length film and keep it entertaining anymore.
Halo Wars honestly just works imo. Both games. Like honestly on paper, everything about it sounds like it’d be a hit. And it kinda was; I feel like a lot of people ignored it because it wasn’t a mainline Halo game. I know I did for a few years until I got a chance to play it, and loved it.
Absolutely nonsense. Nothing Valve has done prevents the competition from doing a better job.
Skill issue.
EDIT: Apparently, the complaint was filed by the CEO of a “Parental Control” company that has a partnership with Meta. This story becomes increasingly ridiculous.

Yeah, there was a similar class-action lawsuit making the rounds in America a few months ago. It failed to take off, because PC gamers pretty unanimously went “lmao get off your bullshit” as soon as they saw what the lawsuit was alleging. It was very heavily advertised on Meta platforms.
