MD =/= PHD

MD = Doctor

PHD = not a doctor.

qjkxbmwvz ,

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_(title)

As a noun yeah it’s more common in the western world to refer to medical doctors. But its origin is that of teachers, not medical practitioners.

Nice bait.

DragonTypeWyvern ,

Is it? Or is it just kinda dumb?

Sidhean ,

I choose to believe no one is this particularly misinformed.

It’s really funny bait, though

PhD is literally “Philosophy Doctor” or “Doctor of Philosophy”

Malgas ,

Also “doctor” means teacher. The specific term for someone who practices medicine is “physician”.

lseif , in They did not reply.

not even using delimeters or format specifiers for string interpolation. theyre just doing sed s/PropertyCity/…/ ? rookie mistake.

renzev , in Site: "I don't feel so good...."

I’ve heard stories of webdevs adding technical-looking error popups on their website asking the client to pay. Something like ERROR 402 PAYMENT REQUIRED: Database connection failed due to insufficient funds. Apparently it works pretty well

YourPrivatHater , in No common rube

Its actually the worst advice when you haven’t figured out what it is, something like a virus (ransom ware, ad shit or similar) usually only works after a restart, if you don’t restart, the IT guy can remove it without much damage.

CarbonatedPastaSauce ,

This is the computer equivalent of “I don’t wear a seatbelt because I don’t want to be trapped in the car if there is an accident.”

marcos , in Implementing RFC 3339 shouldn't really be that hard...

Yeah… the “-7:00” offset is not enough information for most uses.

It’s barely enough to use as timestamps in email headers.

SpaceCadet ,
@SpaceCadet@feddit.nl avatar

How is that not enough? It’s in standard ISO8601 format and can unambiguously be reduced to a UTC timestamp, which is all that matters.

Klear , in Average CSS

No! I wanted orange!

zerofk , in How programmers comment their code

Our code base is filled with “//constructor”, “//destructor”, “//assignment”, or the ever enlightening “Foo GetFoo(); // GetFoo”.

This is not what they mean by self-documenting code.

ClassifiedPancake , in How programmers comment their code

At work we let Typescript and descriptive naming document our code. Only when something is a workaround or otherwise weird will we add comments. So far it has worked great for us.

fnmain , in How programmers comment their code
humbletightband , in Surely "1337" is the same as 1337, right?

The comment section proves that xml is far superior to json

Mixel , in Stop use docker

I need all of these! I already have them for data structures and agile but this is also golden!
