What’s even more outrageous is the amount of one-time-use battery vapes that are being sold and are obviously not recycled properly but end up in nature or, at best, in landfills. I don’t get how this is still allowed…

Can someone explain me USA obsession with prom and similar school rituals?

I just don’t get it… Why is that important, especially for kids now, that feel like they need to do a YouTube video asking for a date or doing some meme stuff. Some teens even hire the hottest celebrity or ask them to appear in their prom? This is so bizarre for me, all that just for a frivolous night....

In Germany we have this stupid tradition with Maibäume (Maypole) were young people carry a tree around and place it in front of the house of their beloved ones. The bigger the tree the better.

ClassifiedPancake ,

My mom couldn’t handle that. I also think there is still enough cool things to experience even though the world is going to shit right now.

I wish Toonstruck would get its remaster and sequel.

I’m all digital. Don’t have to worry about where my notebook is, my tasks and calendar are available through my phone, tablet, computer. And I get reminded on time sensitive things. I can make templates for repeating tasks like my vacation checklist. I’m reminded on birthdays that are coming up so I have time for presents. I never feel like I’m forgetting anything. It’s perfect for how my brain works.

ClassifiedPancake ,

Exactly what I keep saying. Do they get the job done? Yes or No? Very simple question in my opinion.

ClassifiedPancake ,

I always think I stand out but I probably don’t.

Have you tried barefoot shoes?

ClassifiedPancake ,

The one where the door fell off? Yeah that’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.

ClassifiedPancake ,

It was not.

Don’t Look Up. It felt like a movie made by a Redditor who thinks he’s really smart.

Summer is the worst season of the year, isn't?

The sun sucks, being forced to shower like every 4 hours just to not feeling sweaty, the fucking mosquitoes, the fact you can’t wear anything that you want anymore due the heat, the people outside… The fucking beach. I try to avoid it… The fucking sand, not a fan of it. Is scratchy, harsh, annoying and it infiltrates in...

ClassifiedPancake ,

Spring is the worst. The weather is all over the place! One day you wear winter outfit and next day it’s tshirt and shorts but have an umbrella ready. Or a helmet for when it hails tennis balls.

I was with a friend at a pub that had karaoke night. He’s the extroverted kind and got us into a group of girls. I sat there for a bit and sang quietly with the music, never thought much of my voice or myself for that matter. The girl next to me listened and told me „Holy shit you sing great!“. She got me to go on stage and it was so much fun! People loved it. We talked a while afterwards. She was clearly into me. It didn’t work out because she still had a boyfriend but damn did it lift my self esteem! And I got singing lessons for a year.

ClassifiedPancake ,

Isn’t that the kind of display in folding phones?

ClassifiedPancake ,

To be precise: Fast work leads to more work.

ClassifiedPancake ,

I had a different direction in mind actually. My experience is that if I work fast (or rather faster than the slow colleagues) while delivering good work, I just get more work from my boss because I have time. If I slow down so everyone is at the same pace, I have less work in the end. This is why I think a fixed 40 hour work week is shit. Let me go if I’m done with my tasks.

When I used a similar feature in Ice Cubes (Mastodon app) it generated very detailed but ultimately useless text because it does not understand the point of the image and focuses on things that don’t matter. Could be better here but I doubt it. I prefer writing my own alt text but it’s better than nothing.

ClassifiedPancake ,

I used Soundiiz and it works pretty good. Gives you an overview after the import so you can see what’s missing or wrong.

They are buying cheap earbuds and rant about cheap manufacturing. Doesn’t make sense. I think it’s a genius solution to avoid ridiculous licensing costs. Also why does it matter if the audio goes through the cable or wireless? In this price range it all sounds like shit.

What is it about the text messages and emails sent by older people that make me feel like I'm having a stroke?

Maybe they're used to various shortcuts in their writing that they picked up before autocorrect became common, but these habits are too idiosyncratic for autocorrect to handle properly. However, that doesn't explain the emails I've had to decipher that were typed on desktop keyboards. Has anyone else younger than 45 or so felt similarly frustrated with geriatrics' messages?

ClassifiedPancake ,

My mother is the opposite. She will make sure to correct every word even it it’s clear what it meant.

I meant „even if“ not „even it“

I made sure to dislike the moment this sponsorship came up and closed the video. With analytics they should see the connection.

ClassifiedPancake ,

I don’t know the whole situation but reading this it could be he just happened to go the same way and maybe whistled because he wanted to make himself noticed by animals. But it sure seems creepy!

A birthday party of a friend a few years ago. I’m extremely bad keeping a conversation up with strangers who I have nothing in common with and that was basically every single person at this event (except for the friend who was very busy naturally). I was also the only person who was alone there and didn’t know anyone really. After a few brief awkward short conversations I started keeping to myself, playing on the phone, trying to look like I don’t care, but people noticed and my friend tried to put me in groups. But I could just not fit in with them and the fact that I would need this kind of help socializing made me feel even worse. I could not drink because I was there with the car, that would’ve loosened me up a bit. It was horrible. So I drove back home and watched a movie.

This all-or-nothing mentality is harmful to any cause.

I hope Apple will finally allow custom search engines because the current workaround when wanting to use Kagi as default in iOS Safari is a shitty user experience (and I’m not blaming Kagi for that)
