So, I know I can search for communities. Is there a community to ask for community suggestions?...

So, I know I can search for communities. Is there a community to ask for community suggestions?...
For instance, I made an account here in Lemmy.world because it seemed like a nice, well rounded place to start. However, I want stuff from TTRPG.network to show up when I browse my “frontpage,” but all I see is my Lemmy.World communities....
I know that users from different instances can have @instance after the user name, but what does it mean when the username is @username ?
I’ve seen lists of songs with deep lyrics, songs that are upbeat but depressing at the same time, songs not on the radio, and other things like that… But I have never seen a list of songs that are just super fun to sing....
Both platforms offer unique features, but also come with limitations. While Lemmy offers diverse content, it lacks robust tag metadata for organizing and searching images. On the other hand, boorus excel at categorizing images with tags but lack the discussion and the diverse content from Lemmy. Why haven’t we seen a platform...
TLDR - Why don’t Lemmy instances use methods like affiliate links to increase their funding?...
Do i need to use imgur like on r? Or can i just post a photo directly from my phone’s gallery?
Supposing that they, y’know, try to keep their setups secure anyway. With how much you see about breaches of different sites, it’s hard to imagine individuals and smaller groups being able to keep their stuff secure....
My understanding is that favorites are equivalent to twitter likes, and boosts are equivalent to twitter retweets, but on twitter people like way more then they retweet, so why is it different on mastodon?
Their sidebar appears to be intentionally vague. It is overwhelmingly low quality memes.
Edit: to clarify, is it going to scan my phone for credit card info and contacts etc.
Right now I have my feed sorted by Hot. The sixth post in my feed is 19 days old, has zero comments, and one upvote. I’m struggling to work out what algorithm is deciding this is a Hot post
Is there anything that can be done about abandoned communities? In my search for a battlestation community there is one on Lemmy.ml where the only mod is someone who hasn’t posted in 3 years and one on lemmy.world where the only mod is someone who mass created communities and has no intention of posting or doing anything....
There’s a lot of instances using a language I don’t understand. I’ve been using Jerboa, and the only option I’ve seen is to block communities individually every time I come across one, but the popular ones have multiple communities (are they even called communities? My past reddit brain keeps calling them subreddits). So...
I thought it would stop working 1st of July?
So I’ve looked at flights and unfortunately ryanair is the only airline that does the flights at a reasonable time on the days I need/want to travel on....
I don’t want to block all nsfw content but I really don’t want to have to block every new porn community that pops up on lemmynsfw. Is there a way to block all the communities that originate at lemmynsfw?
Is there drama or a story I’m missing? As I understand it, from lemmy.world I can see their posts but they cannot see mine. Why did beehaw block lemmy.world?
Hey, looking into investing into a pair or two of shoes for work. I’m in IT now but worked warehouse and restaurant jobs before this and shoes were by far the biggest qol purchase I made. My current job is pretty relaxed on “business attire” but I want some sneakers and slip ones that look professional while being comfy...
Someone I know has a bathroom that is not GFCI compliant, and I was wondering if it is possible to have a shower that’s humid enough to allow electricity to transfer, or would at that point would the air be inhospitable to breathe in.
I’m with lemmy.world and I can still see beehaw recent posts and I can interact with them despite us being mutually defederated. How does this actually work?
Can’t a corporation just enter the space whenever they want to? Can’t they start or even buy out larger instances? Even if Lemmy does take off, wouldn’t this inevitably happen anyway if the space gets popular enough?
I’m asking for private notes, that only you as a user can see....
The primary incentive that comes to mind is improved availability. Often, instances can become slow, so I use another. By hosting a local instance I could always have a smooth experience....
