This is a biased piece of pseudo intellectual misinformation. Communists don’t defend Russia and “lefty” (couldn’t you be more obvious in your bias if you tried) antifascists do not assume whole nations are fascist at all - clearly they attack fascists in their own countries without attacking everyone.
This is just dumb centrist shit masquerading as discourse.
This post isn’t about categories of leftists or communists, it’s about categories of genocide apologists. Most communists do not defend Russia (I hope) but among those who defend Russia, some claim to be communist.
When I was in the Navy, during the mid 90’s, I watched these things take off and do training tests or whatever they did. We watched them for hours. It occurred to me, watching them in perfect daylight and with a understanding of what I was watching, that if I didn’t know what that was it could have easily been a UFO. And ever since then when someone tells me that they might have seen a UFO I tell them about watching that airplane and how UFO it looked taking off and doing maneuvers. Its shape and speed make it such a bizarre thing to see.
I saw some jet in 2010 at an airshow in Spangdahlem, pretty sure it was an F-22, transition from flying normally to what can only be described as standing on it’s engines and flying through the air, horizontally, belly first. Evidently this was easy enough to be performed directly over the base at a very low altitude. Mindblowing.
Anarcho-Primitivists ('Anprims') are people who think that the industrial revolution is a mistake and we should return to monke stick. Many believe that the Neolithic agricultural revolution was also a mistake, and we should return to hunter-gatherers.
That sounds like we should gather them up, find a isolated area (I hear there are some great areas in the russian hinterland that are open), and just leave them there.
AnPrims will actually fight you on the genocide argument, because they don’t connect lack or destruction of infrastructure with death of those dependent on it: "They would die in The Collapse™ anyway ", because it’s a survivalist prepper doomsday cult.
Getting lucky (Paypal) and being a good grifter (Tesla) does not equal having brains. At most, if one wanted to be generous, you could say SpaceX was a venture made at an opportune time, but I would attribute that less to brains than luck, since the driving impetus for its founding was not "NASA is phasing out certain services which private companies will need to pick up" but "I just got rich and now I want to fund space exploration." Which, to be fair, is better than what most people do when they first get rich - but is hardly proof of intelligence.
Unlike many I do agree. Elon is extremely good at some things, like self-promotion. With some starting capital and understanding of venture capitalism it can get you a looong way.
Scamming people at that level requires serious skill. And makes you a terrible person.
Even ignoring the square-cube law, it’s just a really bad design. If you look at modern main battle tanks, they have been getting lower profile. This is for the simple fact that not being a massive target sticking up from the terrain is a really useful feature. Even then, they often use terrain to try and lower their visible profile further. Add to that all the complexity of making legs and arms work, and it’s begging for a stealthier vehicle to drop the mech with a 105mm penetrator to the knee.
Didn’t the original tabletop BT rules allow for mechs to lie prone for better accuracy and defense? And mechs that didn’t have arm actuators had a penalty to standing back up?
Patlabor addresses this somewhat. Bipedal mech started as a way to rapidly rebuild Tokyo after a massive earthquake. They became so ubiquitous, that regular people had access to them so between drunk/disgruntled construction workers and some bank robberies, Tokyo police had to add two divisions of “Patrol Labors” to deal with it. They’re costly and annoying to everyone. The mech carriers are two lanes wide and no body likes giving them the right of way in traffic. After that, the companies making them diversified into military and meches have a limited roll depending on the terrain. Mostly swampy jungles with bad line of sights, so the legs are useful and the high profile a none issue. High end military models are very quiet compared to civilian models.
I swear at this point they do this shit on purpose. Poorly implement vehicle models into the game, their suffering-oriented game design makes people mad enough to want the vehicles better represented, but they don’t accept any other “secondary sources” so people resort to leaking classified documents… It’s too crazy not to think it’s on purpose.
Plenty of the “classified” documents aren’t actually classified. Oftentimes it’s a case like this, but I remember one person posted a link to the Wikipedia page for a WW2 tank to show how the in-game stats were nerfed compared to the actual vehicle, and they said they couldn’t use data from classified documents.
Spiderman shouting “Fascist” at Spiderman, at this point.
Not that it matters. Nobody on this site has any actual influence over the killing. We’re all just getting off on being self-righteous and calling each other names.
People upholding liberal and democratic values do have influence over these matters. But obviously “lefties” and “righties” try their best to undermine human rights.
Wouldn't go that far. Actual communists may not be as reflexively "West Bad" as tankies, but generally have a negative view of Western-led international initiatives like NATO.
I am a full blown communist, despie the soviet union, china, the DPRK, vietnam, the middle east and so on, yet support NATO, the west and especially europe, while also acknowledging that the west is not perfect and does a shitton of bad stuff. Edgy anti-communists can’t bother to not think in black&white. Reality is more complex than that.
wait, you think it’s wrong to have a problem with an authoritarian state as a communist?
brother in Christ, most left coms see Stalinism, and it’s progeny as nothing more than fascist masquerading as communists, I mean what actual resemblance do they have to a stateless society run by local governments made of the people who live there, and while I’m not 100% with the outdated anarchism, I can at least recognize that the soviet and the sino state structures aren’t communist
And the name we designate these “communists” are tankies or MLs (Marxist-Lenninists). They are only communist in name and believe in authoritarian ideals like what is happening in China or Russia.
It's a meme, not an in-depth examination of international tanking standards. It's just poking fun at the fact that Ukraine is one of the few countries in the world which has current tank-to-tank combat experience, but they go to the US for advanced training courses.
Imagine abrams have different behaviours and buttons to press to what these chaps are used to. Different weight class, handling, aiming, reloading, maintenance. You don’t need tank v tank combat experience to educate people who don’t necessarily speak English fluently which button does what, where it is and when/how to use tank gadgets so it goes into muscle memory because i donno about you, but if someone starts shooting me out of a tank i am very likely to piss myself. Its better they learn muscle memory of where what is in those tanks to be effective and hopefully soon we can see these chaps rolling into Crimea.

It probably swings back toward the scenario depicted if you divide the amount given by the total amount that those countries have available to give, but yeah, good to keep real figures in mind while we have our fun.
On the source website there is quite a bit more. The EU stuff is funded by a share of approximately .2 % of GDP by all EU members in addition to their individual aid.
It’s an old comic dude. Also you’re missing the joke as well as any historical context.
Poland has been through the wringer for centuries and even ceased existing for a while. Having some issues and hating Russia are some of the least unlikely results.
Were doing what we can. I wouldn’t call it propaganda. Please also consider each country GDP. Everyone have limited resources. Poland GDP is 5 times smaller than Germany or Japan and 36 times smaller than US
The US also is kind of built up to be able to almost single handedly be NATO. Our defensive strategies involve using EU countries as bases. We have a vastly different goal with our military stockpiles. (Other than making defense contractors money I mean.)
