Oregonian, here. Yeah, we’ve got our loonies on this issue. Bunch of people convinced that the MMR vaccine causes autism because of that murderous fucker Andrew Wakefield.

SGGeorwell ,

Let’s not forget to thank Oprah Winfrey for platforming Playboy centerfold/medical doctor Jenny McCarthy and her anti-vax nonsense in the 2000s also.

ShareMySims ,

You’re thinking too small. Anti-vaxx is literally a billion dollar industry, held up not only by the grifters and snake oil sellers, famous or not, but also social media and tech companies, and even members and or funders of our governments:

Antivaxxers love to class themselves as small fish going against big pharma.

ShareMySims ,

Yup, like so many other exploitative and oppressive groups (conservatives, transphobes, racists, and so on), part of their schtick is playing the victim not only for the sake of their own cognitive dissonance, but also to use as a veil of innocence and obliviousness to hide their true intentions behind.

True, the oppressors are really good at controlling the narrative as they have resources to keep up the lies and half-truths.

Don’t forget Larry King. That guy famously gave her a lot of airtime in front of a lot of eyeballs.

He was famous for be lazy AF and never fact checking his guests.

SkunkWorkz ,

And Jim Carey.

Can’t live with autism if you’re not alive.

“Hey, look at those leopards over there…”

5oap10116 ,

Really hoping that this outbreak can knock some sense into these idiots.

Unfortunately that’s not likely because it’s hard to cure selfish dipshit diaease.

Stop blaming vaccines! It’s clearly caused by insufficient prayer!

Ever since I started drinking Holy water twice a day I’ve been feeling so much more hydrated. Explain that science!

Lucky. Can’t drink holy water cause it gives me a burning sensation. No idea why.

Drusas ,

Any exemptions that aren't medical should be illegal. This is literally the most contagious disease on the planet and it kills kids. If kids are going to go to crowded places together, like schools, they should be required to be vaccinated against measles.

ravhall ,

Glad I don’t leave the house anymore.

SupraMario ,

Vaccines totally don’t work, the limes everyone was eating just didn’t have enough juice in them.

realcaseyrollins ,

Interesting.

Thankfully the vaccine has at least 90% efficacy if not more, so it’s unlikely that unvaccinated people could still give you measles if you’ve been vaccinated. (www.cdc.gov/measles/about/index.html www.cdc.gov/measles/data-research/index.html)
