Many of you may find this book interesting: Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of AuthoritarianismAvailable at a library near you, until banned. There are also some interesting audio interviews with the author online.

This might interest more people to read the book, I found it stimulating.

I was selling merch for the Obama campaign for a long time. Then I was doing Hillary merch but Hillary – I don’t know, for whatever reason – got hurt and stopped campaigning for a while so I ended up working Trump forever. My first Trump rally was back in 2015. I remember him saying at the end of his speech, to my Black community, “What do you have to lose? Give me a chance.” And dude, here I am. Yes, sir. I gave him a chance, man.

In the beginning it was purely business, but now it’s fully fledged. This is what I believe in and stand for. I think he gives a damn. He simply cares. You say ‘ordinary’, but do these ordinary people make up the majority? The popular vote was uncomfortably close in swing states between Trump and Biden, last time.

Considering we live in a world where ordinary people don’t seem to be demanding a better world for people (we don’t even make sure all children are fed, for example), I don’t have the highest level of trust in ordinary people.

Sorry, I read your post as saying that ordinary people doubt the idea that Donald Trump has any positive traits.

If you doubt that Trump voters are ordinary people, then I wonder how he won the presidency the first time, and came close the second time. Ordinary people don’t seem to have made a particularly great world, after all.
