i like it when the prove how conservative they really are.

im convinced the current democrats are really the current conservatives. the current progressive left are the current democrats and the current conservatives are just unempathetic fascists.

maybe updating everyones nomenclature might solve for some identity issues the right seems to have.

if youre conservative, and dont think youre a fascist, guess what? youre still conservative. if youre a democratic whining that youd now be called conservative, own your shit. get over it. and the fascists? well they can fuck right off.

Conserving capital while liberally destroying life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Ironic.

Kecessa ,

I mean… People from actually democratic countries have known that for a very long time… Even compared to Canada, which is USA light in many ways, the Democrats would be our Conservative Party (although their current leader/members is moving them closer and closer to the Republican party).

Diplomjodler ,

The US Democrats would count as very conservative on most issues in Germany. The Republicans would mostly be in jail for hate crimes or just plain old regular crimes. The failure of the US justice system to hold the political class accountable is staggering.

It seems that AI without human guidance is mostly useless. So far we've seen that you need a human operator, and typically one with decent domain-specific knowledge/skill to get an AI to produce anything worthwhile. That guidance is essentially human authorship.

FlowVoid , (edited )

Most of the time, human guidance occurs before the AI generates anything. For example, ChatGPT was trained with human involvement, but most of what it writes will not be reviewed and edited by a human.

However, an identifiable component of the text must have been written by a human author in order to claim copyright. So most of what ChatGPT writes cannot be copyrighted. It would only be eligible for copyright if a human reviewed and edited what ChatGPT had written.

There is an underlying tension in that copyright is explicitly meant to be an incentive for creative efforts made by humans (who would otherwise be doing something else), and AI is generally designed to replace humans engaged in creative efforts.

There’s also no constitutional right for the internal temperature of the White House not to exceed 950°F, but the fires are on their way anyway.

milkjug ,

Wasn’t there a rumor making the rounds that the Secret Service is actually permeated by right-wing sympathizers? To the extent that they conveniently erased all archived text/digital communications between agents back in Jan 6? Story here

Given that backdrop I wouldn’t be surprised if they will be complicit in his escape.

Hmm… that’s going to hurt his chances of getting elected again.

milkjug ,

No way amigo, it’s already established by Rs that he can run the country as a convict. By extension he could run the country equally effective from mother Russia. There’s still 70 million people that’d vote for that.

themajesticdodo ,

Do you really think he’s going to fly to Russia now? He’s got so much cash sitting in supporters pockets left and maybe a few years left to take it.

Now if he’s found guilty, yeah, I can see him running then rather than go to jail. But not yet.

NatakuNox , in Federal judges rule against provisions of GOP-backed voting laws in Georgia and Texas
@NatakuNox@lemmy.world avatar

The GOP is in panic mode. It’s already mathematically impossible for them to ever win the popular vote ever again, and the chances of winning the electoral college is slim. So they are forced to do election fraud to even have a chance. (voter ID laws and purging voter rolls is a form of election fraud.)

deft ,

They’ve been struggling for years, their platform is bad and can’t be spun to sound that good.

Trump was the start of the end honestly

PickTheStick ,

I told a supervisor sometime in 2021 that we’ll never have another Republican president. I was in a super rural, supermajority republican area, and none of them would believe me. I think Trump was the warning ‘moderates’ and lazy voters needed.

uberkalden ,

Nah, we’ll get lazy again. Just how people are

CapgrasDelusion ,

The electoral college is going to see you lose that bet. Trump lost by about 81,000 votes. Anyone getting complacent and thinking the GOP is done are going to get blindsided. It is going to be very close this time and for many times to come.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/elections/vote-margin-of-victory/

PickTheStick ,

We’ll have to agree to disagree. Complacency could see a repub president again, but with swelling gen Z, dying boomers, and a soon to be swung Texas (if they don’t throw out the big cities’ votes, like they’re trying), I think we’ll be solid.

CapgrasDelusion ,

I definitely hope you're right.

uberkalden ,

Trump wasn’t that far from a victory really in 2020 If they nominate someone more moderate they can win

BackOnMyBS ,
@BackOnMyBS@lemmy.world avatar

that moderate would have to win in the Republican primaries, which will be difficult with the MAGA crowd. it’s kinda funny that Republicans insist on shooting themselves in the foot, then blame Democrats. they’re a real life caricature.

insomniac ,
@insomniac@sh.itjust.works avatar

Texas is particularly important. It’s their electoral counter balance against California’s machine number of electoral votes. If Texas ever durably flips blue, there will never be a Republican President again and they will be very unlikely to win the senate.

uberkalden ,

Or if Florida ever flips back, but that seems less likely somehow

BackOnMyBS ,
@BackOnMyBS@lemmy.world avatar

I was born and live in Florida. This state has changed a lot in the past decade. We’ve had a massive influx of people moving here from other states, changing the political landscape to lean more conservative. Just years ago, my city had a huge Pride Parade that everyone was cool with. Now, we can’t say gay at school. I doubt it will flip back to blue anytime soon.

XbSuper ,

Me, and the person you replied to at least. I just hate olives, no loss for me if they disappeared.

However there’s obviously the bigger issue as to why they’re disappearing, which will wind up affecting plenty of things I do like.

Like, Fortune 500 CEOs are 12 times as likely to be diagnosable psychopaths, but a world run by janitors with the right rules to vote by and a free press to keep them honest totally can work imo
