Can’t wait for this episode of Well There’s Your Problem.

qdJzXuisAndVQb2 , in UN chief gives interview from melting Antarctica on eve of global climate summit

Phew, good thing he did the thing from the actual antarctic, wouldn’t want to think he’s just off on a jolly

cabron_offsets , in Why Xi Jinping sounds friendlier to America

We got hunny.

LemmyIsFantastic , (edited ) in New Yorkers sure don't seem to trust or like Eric Adams

New Yorkers have never liked a mayor. This goes for Giuliani pre 9/11. NY as a whole is a contentious battle ground that leaves everyone pissed off at each other.

RubberElectrons ,
@RubberElectrons@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah but Giuliani was a particularly bright dumpster fire in how negatively he changed new York city.

Who the fuck sues an art museum for deciding to present a picture of the virgin Mary decorated by elephant dung? Not my taste, but mind your own fucking business! And then subsequently loses the case, wasting tremendous tax money hahaha.

Giuliani: what a self-fellating waste, pre and post 9/11.

Oh, the kentucky one, that makes sense

Candelestine , in Why Xi Jinping sounds friendlier to America

I admit, the panda thing really surprised me. About as much as when Xi started rhetorically distancing himself a little more from Putin earlier this year.

I’m very warily happy about this all, I very much like the sound of live-and-let-live. We’ll see what happens in the future though.

Buddahriffic ,

I wonder if Putin’s failure to take Ukraine (first quickly, then at all) has resulted in some bigger plans being changed or abandoned.

profdc9 ,

It’s probably more realpolitik on the part of Xi. He has big problems at home, and probably doesn’t want to multiply his problems.

Fades ,

I was so fucking sad to see the end of panda diplomacy, so it was amazing news to hear Xi renewed it after his visit

SheeEttin , in Meet 3 people whose designs are finalists for the new Minnesota flag

I don’t really like any of them, but I think F1953 is probably the best among them. The ones with the stars in the center look like health insurance corporate logos. F1953 actually looks like a state flag, though it almost looks like a country flag (Bahamas, Jordan, etc.).

WeirdGoesPro , in Big tech companies refuse to take down illegal site stealing from journalists | Ricochet

This site sounds useful. Anyone have a similar alternative? I think this article just convinced me to give them a try.

SheeEttin , in Big tech companies refuse to take down illegal site stealing from journalists | Ricochet

I don’t see anyone refusing to take the site down. They contacted the hosting company, and a few days later the hosting company took it down. If this is the quality of journalism they’re trying to protect, I don’t think any value was lost.

The blisters must be insane

Socsa , (edited ) in A Las Vegas high school grapples with how a feud over stolen items escalated into a fatal beating

Because this is the culture these days. Nobody can just eat some shit and move on anymore. Everything is escalatory all the time, because apparently people would rather literally die or kill than admit to even the smallest error. Or God forbid, demonstrate a modicum of grace. Huge numbers of Americans literally carry guns around so they’ll never have to take a single dent to their ego.

And this kind of goes both ways. I hate to be that guy, but when I grew up throwing down over some stupid shit meant you might get hit in the face or hit someone in the face. Absolutely nobody wanted it to go any farther than that. If you knocked someone down and kept going your own boys would pull you off.

anabana , in Elon Musk calls strikes ‘insane’ as Swedish workers take on Tesla
@anabana@mstdn.social avatar

@MicroWave
Swedish workers strike - best kind of 'insanity' , imo.

SendMePhotos , in Meet 3 people whose designs are finalists for the new Minnesota flag

Flag should be simple. Hmm… I’d say a tricolor horizontal with a compass thing in the middle. MN is known for being the north
