I’m getting to the point where I spend more time reading books I’ve read before than trying new work. If I read it more than a decade ago I remember vaguely enjoying it so I’m not wasting my time but the details are a fresh delight. Used to be 1:1 but now closer to 2:1 old favourites. Just me?@bookstodon

Re-reading books - since high school, I've collected books that I knew I'd want to read again. I have about 40-50 books that I re-read every few years. Usually about 5 years. Yes, I've weeded a few out and added new ones, but these are mostly comfort reads, like meeting up with old friends. Anyway, I never have less that 2 books going and one is usually an oldie.

Swedish workers strike - best kind of 'insanity' , imo.

Bookish people: I’m making bookmarks as a kind of business card that hopefully people will keep.
What are your favourite dimensions for a bookmark?
Do you like ribbon or thread from a circle cut in the top or do you prefer bookmarks that are just a rectangle of eg paper?
Would you use a handmade one-of-a-kind bookmark? (Website details in a small space on one side, the rest would be pretty, have anything from pop culture icons to scenes or florals.)

Favorite size is about 1 1/2" X 3 1/2" and flat. Even the ribbon or thread will often leave impression marks in books. Not as bad a dog-eared pages, but I don't use that kind anymore. Your description of the handmade ones sounds good! Scenes, florals, critters, book-related humorous quotes...

Yes, that is small compared to most bookmarks. I don't mind them being a bit longer, but I really prefer the narrower ones. I like the ones that make me smile. You mentioned a dog 'peeking' over the edge, and I can see a cat pushing something over the edge ...

Lol, yes! I enjoyed the mental image from your description. Thanks. 😎
