I’m just posting sources to back up my claims while everyone else just says stuff because they want it to be true. No need for sources when you can just say stuff… it’s like Republicans.
Democrats gave up literally everything before even getting to the negotiating table. They’ve taken the Republicans’ wildest dreams and made it their initial offer. Republicans not accepting it and working them even further past that isn’t some kind of egg on their face moment, let alone a win, let alone, you know, actually helping people in desperate need of it.
It’s wild watching the machinations that liberals go through to be racist while trying to convince people that they’re not. The end result of this is going to be even more draconian than what Democrats are offering, and that’s perfectly OK with many of them.
Good, I'm angering the fat-asses. Eat more McDonalds, McFatties.
I'm gonna be in the minority here but I see this as a good thing for fast food prices to be high. Shouldn't we all be advocating and pushing more for a healthier alternative? Cook our own meals, know what's nutritious, stop giving junk food companies our money when they systematically have been a negative on our health for years. I'll never understand why there is such a fight to protect and have cheap prices for fast food joints when they are and have been anything but healthy.
People target others with criticism like how we don't control their money and their eating habits. Well guess what, I've got news for you. Don't complain about why you're paying out the ass for insulin, for medical costs and everything in between because of your lack of self-control that is tied to your eating habits by continuing to go to these "restaurants".
And I'm going to throw a stone also say that I'm not doing myself better since I go out to chinese buffets. But in my defense, I get far more out of them than I would being handed a greasy bag with everything shoved in while the food quality and texture all say depression and guilt.
Oh cry me a river. So many people whining about the articulation of opinions. I'm not going to soften myself just so your simple-minded brain can digest it easier. I'm not out to ask permission in how I want to express things for people like you. If it bothers you that much, downvote and go the fuck away. It's that simple, otherwise, responding at all will just make it worse on yourself.
You’re not wrong you’re just an asshole. I only go out to eat for social events. Everything else is home cooked. But also being this asshole doesn’t help change habits or minds or just makes people think less of people like me who actually do live this life.
Again, I'm not going to ask permission as to how I'm going to express certain opinions to appease people out there and check on their emotions. Your emotions are not my responsibility.
You’re allowed to be an asshole, but you’re coming off as a whiney asshole with no regard to other people.
I mean, do you walk into a McDonald’s and tell fatties that they’re wrong? No? Why not? Because people would be mad at you?
And yet when you do that online you somehow expect the results to be different and for people to stop telling you that you’re an asshole? Why? Just live your life, accept that people will think your an asshole for it, and move on.
I do like the idea of an online forum as a space for building community through respectful exchange of ideas, as opposed to antagonism that damages others or the community fabric.
Lemmy does benefit from maintaining some basic standards of civility and care for others. We all contribute to the emotional environment collective discussions create.
Imagine an all-volunteer orchestra where everyone is free to play their own tune. Even without a strict conductor, the orchestra members are aware that their individual performances affect the harmony of the entire group. If someone plays discordantly or off-key intentionally, they might not be solely responsible for how the audience feels about the music, but they do contribute to the overall experience.
When members of the orchestra (or posters on the fediverse) disregard the collective effort to create something enjoyable and cohesive, they risk being “downvoted” to the last chair, where their impact is lessened. However, their presence and performance can still affect the overall sound. So, while you can say what you want, your words are part of a larger community conversation and can influence the “melody” of the platform, for better or worse.
Sure, and your behaviour isn’t my problem either. So I just downvote you since you do not have anything important to say and move on. (except for this comment)
I don’t but I’ll hazard a guess. Firstly censorship, they have to be careful what they say so maybe using the US Embassy account it’s a way of saying “we blame america” whilst still asking for help.
Secondly because of censorship maybe the general consensus that their downturn IS the result of US behaviour. So they believe their government has let them down and genuinely believe US can help them.
Maybe ironicly as well but I don’t see it, anyone else got suggestions?
