Well, I mean… Besides the first two those are not the worst rules to live by. As an agnostic I’m obviously against pushing your religion onto others but I think I’ll reserve my outrage for something more important.

They are, in fact, the worst rules to live by. Ignoring the fact that there are multiple version of them and they’re not even the ones the Bible actually calls the ten commandments, here’s a brief rundown:

    1. You shall have no other gods before Me. - How is this a good rule to live by? Why does everyone have to worship Yaweh?
    2. You shall make no idols. - Why does this matter?
    3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. - Or this?
    4. Keep the Sabbath day holy. - Or this?
    5. Honor your father and your mother. - What if your mother beats you? What if your father rapes you?
    6. You shall not murder. - Okay, sure, based on your definition of murder I guess one good rule in there.
    7. You shall not commit adultery. - What if your partner is okay with it? Is it still wrong?
    8. You shall not steal. - Not even food to feed your starving children?
    9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. - Okay, sure, lying is usually a bad thing. Not always, but usually.
    10. You shall not covet. - Good luck with that one. Even Elon Musk wants things he can’t have.

So other than ‘don’t murder’ and ‘don’t lie,’ which both can arguably have circumstances in which they are necessary, they don’t seem like good rules to live by to me.

r0ertel , in Romney Says He’d ‘Have Immediately Pardoned’ Trump If He Were Biden

I appreciate all the comments here, but consider another perspective. If there were a federal crime committed (I’m not following the news very closely) and a president can pardon before a trial is performed, then a pardon from Biden would be a total power move. Given that trump would probably either weasel out of the conviction or it would be a slap on the wrist fine, this puts Biden in a position of power over trump. This would also crush trump’s ego if not publicly, it would eat at him in private.

    twack ,

Trump has 91 felony allegations across 4 different state and federal cases against him right now. Many of which are directly related to him trying to overthrow our democracy.

Burn him to the ground; I don’t care about his legacy as a president. He was a shitty one anyway and was never actually elected by popular vote.

I would be appalled if he was pardoned, and I’m already rather annoyed at the current state of the prosecution taking this long.

Wait… There are people that still trust government run institutions to educate their kids?

The public school system must be worse than I thought, or people are just unwilling to accept that public schools exist to turn our children into cannon fodder for corporations.

4am , in Illicit fentanyl is entering the US at highest rates ever

Tinfoil take: if crack was a CIA op, fent also is, they’re just targeting all drug users. They think if they make it all deadly and dangerous, everyone’ll stop. There’s some christofascist psychos who think “addicts deserve it” and they should cull the populace, just like they thought PoC deserved it with crack.

    Glemek ,

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Alliance_(book)Is the original expose about cia involvement with crack, and still I think a good starting place, even if it has some flaws. It was less about what crack would do to americans, (though they were completely apathetic towards the harm they were doing in the US) and more to do with what the cia wanted to do with off books funding that crack provided, secretly fund paramilitary deathsquads in Nicaragua.

I think if the CIA is still involved in US drug trafficking, and I wouldn’t be surprised, it is probably still for off books funding primarily.
