If I behaved as an asshole I was corrected and if i didn’t listen I got a slap. I don’t think I was maltreated. It was dad’s answer for my actions in that moment. And it happened rarely. Every time it happened I learned the lesson. :D
And no you didn’t turn out fine if you think this way. I know, I got slapped as a kid.
Parents obviously have a role to play in respect and education, but it’s very limited when the whole environnement your growing up in is against you (poverty, limited opportunities, crime, police brutality, etc.).
If your first and only answer to correcting bad behavior is violence, then how does a child learn to use anything but violence to solve their own problems? And if you violently attack your child for the smallest infractions, how do they learn that some things like rape, murder, war, etc., are more wrong than a simple lie. And what incentive do they have to tell the truth about anything they do wrong so they can learn from it, when they’re going to get beaten no matter what. Better to risk lying for a chance at not getting beaten than to tell your parents you made a mistake and get beaten for sure.
My mentality is, do what you can, when you can. It seems overwhelming, because it is and it isn’t just on you to control. It is mostly on the world governments and corporations to actually start initiatives to stop this from getting worse, and then actually get better later on.
You, yourself, cannot du much to influence change, and your impact with the things you choose to do to help, honestly won’t help much in the grand scheme of things unfortunately.
So recycle, get a hybrid, or electric car when you can. Contribute to organizations that support the cause but don’t stress about what you can do in the short term.
My thoughts exactly at first I was laughing and then I realized how f****** dangerous this is. Yeah lets base AI off of religion… You know the thing that has caused pretty much most of the suffering in the world.
I don’t really see how this strategically advances any goals. I’m willing to bet it’s a mistake by one side or the other rather than any intent. The target has no value or purpose and makes no sense. Maybe as terror or something but ehhhh
Are there any images of the missile debris floating around the various telegrams? Would be interested in seeing exactly what weapon it was.
Destroying the Ukrainian culture could be one as Poutine’s propaganda is saying that Ukraine is not a real country with a real history but a part of Russia that needs to be recovered.
Mainly the part where an attack intended to destroy the building would be very easy but this is just mild damage. I mean that in the sense of it not being catastrophic rather than implying that this occurring to a religious building isn’t upsetting, it’s not a pleasant thing. The point being that when they intend to actually blow stuff up there’s usually very little left over of the targets, which leads me to believe this wasn’t the target.
Which is why I’m interested in seeing what hit it. I’m surprised there are no photos of the missile debris so far, there are in almost every single other attack as it’s the information that validates a lot of information for international eyes.
They aren’t using it as a symbol though, blowing up a religious building is not exactly a move that would be popular among russians. Which is why they’re denying that it was Russian munitions and trying to claim that it was Ukrainian anti-air missiles falling back on buildings after trying to shoot down other things. To use it as a symbol you kinda have to say it was you.
What this will become however is a symbol of reconstruction for Ukraine, which is not at all beneficial to Russia’s strategic interests. Hence why I lean to it being a mistake of some sort. Given the accuracy their missiles have though that’s hard to justify as well, unless it’s not actually the main payload of a missile and is instead one of the earlier stages that gets split, like the fuel tubes sections. This is why actually seeing the missile debris is useful, you can figure out whether it was the target or not based on whether it’s the payload section or some other part of the missile.
Owner Stuart Rome told the New York Post Ms Russell was no longer employed at the Woodhouse spa in Birmingham, and that staff were “pissed” about her abduction claims.
The 25-year-old told police she was kidnapped while stopping to help a toddler on Interstate 459 on 13 July. However, police say they have doubts about her account after finding suspicious internet searches on her phone.
Mr Rome said staff had been devastated by Ms Russell’s disappearance, and had passed out flyers in an effort to help find her.
“As the information came out that there were some questionable things, we’ve been a little pissed off, mainly because so many people took so much time out to search”
One of her searches before the incident was “how to take money from a register without being caught” so I’m thinking maybe she was trying to pull a Psycho; steal some money and disappear. But either changed her mind or botched it.
They don’t need “incentive”. All they need is complete and utter loss of hope and humanity so that they eventually realize they should just “make the best of it”.
That or the threat of beatings.
There was a picture of a Congolese man who was forced to work on a Dutch rubber plantation with his entire family. This man was staring at the severed hand of his 5 year old daughter. She lost her hand because she failed to meet her quota. If that man suddenly became the most productive slave on the plantation… was that a good thing? Or was he forced into an inhumane situation that is absolutely inexcusable?
