Kinda sad really, but traveling up the east coast this year and we can see it in the towns we visit. The social gatherings are more segregated than usual, and they weren’t integrated to begin with. Folks all looking at each other with a side eye, especially along the black/white divide.
in the 1980s my dad somehow ended up with a business card from Carl’s Jr with some note on it. whenever he showed it at the drive through, the manager would personally deliver the order and it was all free.
The fun part is he doesn’t need to be okay with the punishments the court deems necessary. In fact, it’s better if he doesn’t like the outcome as it will dissuade him, possibly, from doing the same thing again. He got away with being a shitty commercial property developer because he never faced and repercussions. So he just kept doing it until he ruined his reputation with every contractor in the city.
