This is a bs story. This was just a recounting of him getting the call for VP. It’s not a direct quote. Just how he felt, and if you’ve had kids, there are plenty of times you want to tell them to shut the hell up like that but don’t say it that way. There are reasons to not like this guy but we can be better than this rage bait bs.
I don’t know anything about the full send podcast, if it’s meant to be a serious interview, I think that’s kind of a bad look on him that he’d choose to recount it with a mild profanity like hell. I curse like a sailor on my own time, but in any situation where I’m acting as a representative of my job or acting in any sort of official capacity for any organization I’m a part of, or just trying to make a good, professional impression, my speech is squeaky clean and fit to be aired on PBS kids.
Even if it’s meant to be a more light-hearted and humorous podcast, there’s a fine line to walk for people in the public eye and they need to be mindful of what sort of soundbites they’re making that could be taken out of context. That kind of shows a little lack of forethought about what he’s going to say and how it might be received by his audience, which isn’t exactly a desirable quality in a politician.
As a constituent, it’s so relaxing that whenever I see my senator’s name in the headlines, it’s because he’s doing or saying something I agree with. I, fortunately, don’t know anyone with long COVID myself, but I’ve seen how it’s absolutely wrecked YouTube STEM educator PhysicsGirl, Dianna Cowern, and if we live in a compassionate society, we should do what we can to help these people.
A good egg like you probably doesn’t need reminding, but check in on the most vulnerable people in your circles. The stigma around COVID contributes to people suffering in silence and falling by the wayside, and it’s crushing when the world moves on without us.

I just checked, the MBFC web site explains that it has an American perspective on left vs. right. The Overton Window in United States politics stretches from far-right (Republicans) to right-center (Democrats). From a lot of Americans’ perspectives, the BBC is a bunch of counterculture hippies.
Totally ending democracy. Which is bad. Trump said HE would end Democracy, which is good. But the Democrats sound like Democracy. which is bad, but “ending Democracy” is a way you can attack democrats, which is good. But Trump said he would be ending democracy, which is good. But we can eat ice cream, which is good, but we’re out and only have frozen yogurt, which is bad, but we have crushed up cookies and sprinkles, which is good. But the cookies have arsenic in them. Which is bad. But they are sugar free, which is bad, unless you have diabetes, which is also bad, you don’t have diabetes, which is good, but you have PRE diabetes, which is bad, but you can get out of work for extra doctors visits, which is good, but you have to pay the co-pay. Which is bad. But your wallet is old leather and smells like your grandpa, which is good. But your grandpa died 14 years ago, which is bittersweet, and a touch melancholy.
Really? Where? Let’s not start with the passive-aggressive tones. I’d ask what rubbed you off the wrong way but I’d rather we stop if we’re going down that path.

Wow. Maybe Vance should have gotten some stability in his career before he had kids. Maybe figured himself out a little better and grown as a person until he was ready.
Children are a life-altering obligation, after all. Maybe Vance would have been happier if he focused on his career first. Of course, that’s a deeply personal matter, and I would never assume that I know better than someone else what is best for their life.
