Maybe crack is the secret ingredient for The Dome.
For the unititiated, there is a conspiracy theory is that Redstone has a weather control program called the dome and the explosions are them doing their thing to make sure severe weather always misses the arsenal.
The relative drop in oil prices is, exactly, the reason. In general, oil companies’ profits are spiking up because the ground is running out of oil, so instead of reinvesting in refineries and extraction equipment, they’re able to just keep all the money. I heard it referred to as “the party at the end of the world” - basically that’s why their profits are sky-high compared with what they’ve been historically. On top of that, last year, they had the luxury of super-spiking oil prices as well, but the oil prices have gone back down, so their profits have shrunk back to being merely conventionally obscene.
Average price of gasoline in the US in July of 2019 was about 2.80 per gallon. In July of 2023 it was about 3.60 per gallon. This is about a 27% difference.
Based on official us inflation rates (CPI) in 2020, 2021, 2023, but only through march of 2023 the price would be 3.40 per gallon. That isn’t that far off, especially when my calculation is missing inflation data for 4 full months.
tl;dr This is what inflation does to a mf’er. $3.70 to 3.80 is almost certainly the new normal, it won’t be going down unless the US economy experiences deflation.
It might sound like an implausible gambit. But zoos in China have courted public ridicule in the past for trying to pass off pets like dogs as wild animals.
In 2013, a city zoo in the central Henan province angered visitors by trying to pass off a Tibetan Mastiff dog as a lion. Visitors who had approached the enclosure expressed shock when they heard the “lion” bark.
Visitors at another Chinese zoo, in Sichuan province, were shocked to discover a golden retriever sitting in a cage labeled as an African lion enclosure.
Fewer queer children, and also people they can point to and tell their own children, "See? They're miserable. You'll be miserable too if you don't stay in the church and marry the opposite gender and start pumping out babies."
Much public housing is decades old, built before central air was widely available, and it would be incredibly expensive to add it now. Many tenants get an allowance for utilities that includes heat, but federal rules actually specify that it not cover air conditioning. Residents are allowed to get their own AC units, but Deborah Thrope, of the National Housing Law Project, says most must pay for it and the monthly bills themselves.
That’s not the issue though. The issue is that the low-income tenants have to pay for the portable units themselves. On top of that, federal subsidies for some reason do not cover air conditioning.
I think we’re in agreement. What I was trying to get at was that the high cost of retrofitting buildings with central air shouldn’t be an excuse to leave those people without air conditioning.
This is bullshit and whoever is trying to make this reality needs to learn about separation of church and state and ponder it while they have all influence and decision making power stripped permanently since they lack reading comprehension skills.
These people have spent decades pretending that Thomas Payne et all were good little Christian fundamentalists who thought that Christian rule was such a no brainer they just never thought any other religious group could exist, and that it is a foregone conclusion that all of law and order was divinely inspired by Judeo Christian thought and values, and didn’t exist prior, because nothing existed prior to their Stone Age fan fiction.
I’m betting a decent part of it is the bear(s) just seeing people and how they behave every day, not too surprising they might imitate it. Animals are intelligent too after all
The move is sure to anger Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, who is continuing a hold on senior military nominations that is now impacting more than 300 flag and general officers over the Pentagon’s abortion policy. Tuberville has been an outspoken proponent of moving SPACECOM to Alabama. But US officials have previously told CNN that they had concerns about Alabama’s reproductive health policies and what it would mean for servicemembers there if SPACECOM were moved to Huntsville.
