JustZ , in Opinion: Long COVID is debilitating to me and 65 million other people. Where is the urgency to treat it?
@JustZ@lemmy.world avatar

The urgency was when we shut everything down, wore masks, and cranked out a vaccine which a bunch of dumbasses won’t take.

Long COVID isn’t a thing. It’s just COVID.

These are the effects of getting a serious and lethal virus.

NOT_RICK , in Africa and Russia relations increase as war continues with no end insite
@NOT_RICK@lemmy.world avatar

So are you just going to spam bullshit about Russia and Africa across Lemmy all day? ECOWAS wants the Niger junta out, this isn’t just some western meddling.

jimmydoreisalefty OP ,

Not spam, just news. Only did it for 1-2 min, didn’t take that much effort.

Took longer to convert links to achieve links.

BombOmOm , in Africa and Russia relations increase as war continues with no end insite

Russia called Ukrainians their brothers just last year. Russia does not treat its “family” well.

The process of suffocating Europe continues

The hell does that even mean?

who8mydamnoreos , in Appeals court lets Kentucky enforce ban on transgender care for minors

The locals will celebrate by continuing to look the other way while pastors rape and indoctrinate their children

BonesOfTheMoon , in Withering heat is more common, but getting AC is still a struggle in public housing

It should be mandatory in every building. Landlords should be on the hook for it, they get away with such murder.

wellington , in Elon Musk’s X Sues Nonprofit That Accused It of Allowing Hate Speech

Why don’t we not respect his nouns and still call it twitter?

OldWoodFrame ,

I uninstalled the app but I certainly don’t respect his verbs. Tweeting makes a lot more sense than Xing. Xing means “crossing”

elbarto777 ,

I used to think like you, but someone mentioned that the more we call it X, which is a horrible name, the more the twitter brand loses its value - which is good!

lagomorphlecture , in Withering heat is more common, but getting AC is still a struggle in public housing

The actual AC issue aside, I feel that this is a good argument for some urban redevelopment to plant more area/climate appropriate trees. It would provide shade and provide some offset for the CO2 emissions. Getting shade between the sun and the buildings would help make the heat more tolerable and getting some shade over the roadways and parking lots would help decrease urban heat bubble effects.

baldingpudenda , in Elon Musk’s X Sues Nonprofit That Accused It of Allowing Hate Speech

I hope some big firm takes up the nonprofit just to be able to counter sue for payment. It’s a research firm. Detailed and thorough is literally their jobs.

elbowdrop , in Oil major BP posts 70% drop in second-quarter profit, raises dividend by 10%

I’m sure they will somehow screw the average citizen to make up the money, or complain to the government.

TenderfootGungi , in Los Angeles may have more homeless people due to renters being kicked out

Cheap houses make perfect AirBnB’s.

wahming ,

The article is about unpaid rent from the covid era. You can only make the landlords take on the debt for so long before larger financial repercussions occur. The right solution would have been for the state to take it on, but that would require *gasp* socialism

ThrowawayPermanente ,

Directions unclear, kulaks liquidated

Communities in California could also just let people build more housing, but God forbid the poors move into my neighborhood.

Treczoks , in Oklahoma parents, faith leaders and education group sue to stop US’s first public religious school

While this might have severe issues with separation of state and church, those people probably are against the idea that someone might teach an unbiased, analytical approach to religion as such...

Treczoks , in Fulton County D.A. receives racist threats as charging decision against Trump looms

Aren't there any laws in the US that threats against a government official are a crime or felony? Make the police earn their pay and send them after the culprits.

JonVonBasslake ,
@JonVonBasslake@lemmy.world avatar

As if the cops weren’t either among these assholes or at least on their side.

Thortallmon ,

Especially in Georgia

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Not that this would necessarily make a difference, but I would think threatening a public official would be an FBI matter.

Treczoks ,

That is a problem that should not exist in the first place. But it's America, so one has to deal with it. Maybe it will be necessary to get the professionals in, especially if the crime can be assumed to be crossing state lines in a way.

sylver_dragon ,

Yes. And it’s likely that the police and/or FBI are investigating. But, this isn’t a TV show. Investigations take time and there is no magic that let’s the police discover the sender withinthe first 40 minutes to allow another 10 for an overly dramatic court room examination.

Real life is messy, and it’s quite possible that there just isn’t enough evidence to locate the sender. Let alone actually prosecute them. Most crimes in the US have really low closure rates. Honestly, I’d be surprised if they mange to locate the sender.

Treczoks ,

I'm well aware that they won't catch all, or anyone in the short time frame. But whoever they take off the road is an improvement for society. Even if it takes months.
