No silly waves are on land. Have you ever heard of earth’s largest wave? Wave Everest. A lot of people climb it every year. Sometimes they call them land waves to distinguish them further from water mountains.
have you people never seen an ocean? when you see ships go far enough out you see them disappear behind the curvature of the earth, you’ll see masts of sailboats sticking up and the like.
None of what they say makes sense when you string any two parts of it together, so trying to figure out which thing is more mountain-like is giving them credit they’re not really due.
“Having legs” was always the most basic tool of bicyclist propaganda. If you have no legs, you can’t be fed bicyclist propaganda. The most steadfast anti-biker I knew in my childhood was a corn snake I found in my backyard. Bicycle propaganda did not reach him.
What’s nice here is that the upvote to comment ratio is pretty low compared to reddit and other platforms, meaning one upvote here means a lot more than one upvote on reddit.
Also each post sparks cool and unique discussions so you get more out of reading and participating in the comment section.
From what I remember from writing an undergrad history paper on these dudes, it was used for lots of things such as a treatment for chlamydia (or another STI - I don’t remember exactly). These dudes were banging their way across America, especially the black slave they brought along as apparently the locals thought he had big magic.
I’m not condoning any of this sort of colonialism - just clarifying that these dudes probably single-handedly introduced some new STIs to whole populations, and they were dragging their leaky mercury-riddled dicks along in their boats.
Not only that, the interpreter will point directly to the line of code and possibly to the exact character that is the problem. Any programmer worth anything would find the issue or, worst case, retype the line of code and have the problem fixed rather quickly. “Illegal character” is a pretty easy error to diagnose.
But…I still chuckled a little at the intent of the joke. I’m sure there are better pranks one could come up with, though.
