The rulers figured out the internet is too dangerous to their power. They thought they could control it and us, and they did for a long time, but it’s not working anymore. Now they are cracking down on our ability to communicate, to prevent ideas from spreading and taking hold that they cannot tolerate.
? They’re just following the end game of capitalism, they’re trying to squeeze every last bit of profit out of the internet that they can, it has nothing to do with the internet “threatening” power, they already took care of that with all of the spying laws they passed when the internet started getting popular
interest rate hikes, VCs are demanding their money back and companies are scrambling to become profitable/more profitable.
Edit: forgot to address the other point, they don’t really care about us spreading ideas as long as we don’t actually threaten their power. There is absolutely 0 threat of a socialist revolution anywhere in the west right now
Can I just tell you how much I hate those Ishihara tests? I don’t see shit in that OP one (which was exactly what I expected).
Once upon a time, Panasonic did a print ad for one of their new color printers that was a dot test that read “Panasonic”, with nothing else on the page. Not super-effective advertising - although I suppose color-blind folks weren’t necessarily the target demographic…
I kinda hate them because non-colorblind people generally say one of a few things when conversations about them come up: “OMG do you really not see any numbers on there? It’s so OBVIOUS”, “Wow… so what color is this [insert random obvious thing]?”, or “So you’re colorblind? How do you deal with traffic lights? LOL”.
I’m almost afraid to ask, but dumb questions are kinda my thing: I don’t understand what gives the guy in first pic grimy hands, and how it leads to sexy pics in someone else’s (?) Closet (??).
It doesn’t say anything for me, it’s an odd shape of different coloured orbs and yes i am confirmed colour blind. Red green, i keep forgetting what it’s called.
I do find cooking easier in grams. Just put the bowl on the scale and add ingredients until it hits the number. No measuring cups to wash. But it would life changing if woodworking switched to metric. Doing any sort of exact math is annoying as hell. What is 12’7” divided by 4? How many 1/8” is 0.55 inches?? It is my own personal hell.
It's also a lot easier to multiply and divide recipes if you switch it over to metric. This is particularly useful if you don't have enough of one ingredient and need to reduce the others by that ratio.
Then there's the ability to measure the ingredient directly out of the container, using any scoop you can find, rather than needing multiple sets of measuring spoons.
We saw the mass adoption of the internet, which before was mostly used by a small group of techies. Now we might be heading to a split: The mass walled garden and a separate smaller but free internet.
