Cynthia , (edited ) in Diablo 4 randomly stopped working

did you update the flatpaks?

What distro are you running?

which wine GE version is it?

Did you try running it with caffe on Bottles?

million OP ,
@million@lemmy.world avatar

Flatpaks have been updated.

OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.

wine-ge-8-26-x86_64

Not sure what caffe is? Is that a runner?

Cynthia , (edited )

Yes caffe is a runner in bottles. Try it to see if it works for the game. Bethesda BattleNet Launcher works with it.

Make sure to update the distro if possible.

Sometimes restarting the device if you never do, might help in certain scenarios. Some updates need a restart even though most don’t on Linux.

EDIT:

You can try running the Battlenet launcher on lutris and running diablo 4 through instead of standalone. Blizzard launcher sometimes with updates breaks the launching on lutris. It’s why I suggest to try caffe on bottles. Download the .exe for the battlenet launcher and install it on bottles with caffe runner and run it there. Hopefully some of this might fix it. Or someone that has used Suse with more experience might suggest what to do. I don’t have that game but these suggestions are based on my problems with Battlenet launcher for the last year.

The Flatpak version works really well once you figure out what permissions to set.

Lomkey , in PS5 Bluetooth Controller Connectivity issues to PC 🎮

I had this problem with fedora base system is due to the bluetooth software with controllers like PS5 they use, if I remember I never got it to work right, I am sure there is a fix somewhere but I have not found.

Are there any physical obstructions between the controller and the antenna? That'd reduce the effective range.

Sunny OP ,

I thought of this too, and there really is nothing :/

Wutchilli , in Playing "The Planet Crafter" via Proton

My first thought is that there might be some Kind of DRM involved, early access and dev versions might not have it but the full releases might.

MoLoPoLY OP ,

Maybe… If I use the stable version, it works also sometimes with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1, but has only 2fps. I can remove this parameter with the dev version and have 45fps.

Mazoku , in Recommendations for an authentic mousepad?

I used a HyperX Fury S XXL for 4+ years with no issues before switching to a glass mousepad. I’ve heard Artisan mousepads are really good, or Artisan clones like the LGG Saturn Pro

narc0tic_bird , in Recommendations for an authentic mousepad?

I personally use a very thin hard plastic mousepad that sticks to the table, the Razer Sphex v3: www.razer.com/gaming-mouse-mats/razer-sphex-v3

It can be very loud to move your mouse on at first (also depending on the skates on your mouse), but once the texture wears off it’s very, very smooth.

It’s not very durable, take it off a few times and it’ll probably not stick well to the desk anymore (it doesn’t ruin your desk though). I still like it the most though.

Sunny OP ,

thanks for sharing!

I have a metal one I got for father's day a few years ago that I like pretty well but most of the time I just use my desk unless I'm traveling.

Since you have Team Fortress 2 Classic im going to share Open Fortress

ProdigalFrog OP ,

Awesome suggestion! Added! :D

steeznson , in The penultimate list of Free Linux games, with over 100 titles!

A few personal recommendations here: Xonotic is the most engrossing quake clone I’ve ever played. The gameplay is fabulous and it would run on a potato. Definitely check it out if you like arena shooters.

Also people who bounced off FreeCiv for its somewhat dated mechanics (I believe it’s most similar to Civ 2 in terms of gameplay), might enjoy Unciv. It’s a FOSS porr of Civilization 5 and the last time I played it a few years back it appeared to be almost feature complete in terms of parity with its inspiration.

Lastly nethack is hard as nails and I’ve never been able to finish it. Good game though!

ProdigalFrog OP ,

Added UnCiv to the list, thanks for the suggestion! Plays really well on my phone, surprisingly.

steeznson ,

Yeah it’s very good. Written in java so Android is a first class citizen but it runs well on desktop too.

ProdigalFrog OP ,

They did a really good job with the GUI too.

Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn’t work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !retrogaming

monstoor , in What do you use for key rebinding in games?

I use ESDF for movement

Yikes! However, back in the day I remember using zx*? for movement on the BBC Micro :-)

CarbonatedPastaSauce OP ,

Yeah, I switched from arrow keys to ESDF going from Doom to Quake. WASD wasn’t the ‘default’ yet back then. And by the time it got annoying with new games coming out, muscle memory was already there. If I could go back in time and do that over, it would save me at least several days of my life rebinding stuff over the years, lol.

sugar_in_your_tea , in How are you all partitioning your setup?

I use BTRFS for everything, and openSUSE Tumbleweed set up some decent mount points and automatic snapshotting for me.

I have two drives:

  • NVMe drive - my BTRFS Linux partition and SWAP
  • SATA SSD - Windows partition - pretty much unused

That’s it. It’s simple and it works. I used to do funky things with mount points and whatnot, but it’s more annoying than anything imo.

My NAS (openSUSE Leap) is similarly simple:

  • SATA SSD boot drive - BTRFS with snapshotting
  • 2 HDDs in a BTRFS mirror
