How to find moderators for a community?

How do people go about finding moderators they trust for a community? I could find someone who posts a lot and then ask them in a private message, but maybe there is some other way. Do people mainly mod people they know personally? I kind of want to find someone who is in a completely different time zone so they would be awake...

Are posts supposed to be exactly synced across instances?

I’m very new here but I decided to check and compare the posts in a community on lemmy.world (where I have my account) and that same community on the instance where it resides and the posts were almost all completely different! Is that how it’s supposed to work or are they supposed to be synced? Sorry if this is a noob...

Looking for either a memes or relationship instance

I’m not into the idea of centralizing all of the communities on one of two instances so am always trying to find new instances. Earlier I stumbled across lemmememes.com but it appears to be broken and is in fact running outdated software, so now I’m trying to find something like lemmy.love or just a general memes or love...

What happens if the AT Protocol will get large adoption? Will it be a good or a bad thing? Will it lead to more fragmentation? Will it be compatible with ActivityPub? (atproto.com)

I stumbled upon this, but I don’t know how it would affect the fediverse. The integrated account migration / moving sounds interesting, but on the other hand, it seems to belong to a company rather than a standardization comitee (W3C ActivityPub). I think it should be prevented that there will be a ActivityPub and AT fediverse...

In my opinion, having multiple accounts in different apps and instances is better than trying to combine them into the smallest amount of accounts

Having accounts in different Mastodon instances, for example, allows you to see more of Mastodon, because not all servers federate with the other servers, and some servers will recommend you different accounts, or will only partially show you posts from accounts on other servers. It also allows you to test out each one of those...

Op-ed: Why the great #TwitterMigration didn’t quite pan out (arstechnica.com)

I've been using fediverse stuff (Mastodon and, most recently, Calckey—I'm just going to use "Mastodon" as shorthand here; purists can bite me) for over a year now and have been doing so full time for about six months, following Elon Musk buying Twitter (since on principle, I decline to give Elon Musk money or attention). This...
