Why not a community

!lemmyinstancegraveyard

And a community for peertube and plume instances

!peertubeinstancegraveyard

!plumeinstancegraveyard

Someone on kbin could make a kbin graveyard community.

comcreator ,

Did you want to help moderate? If you do, please leave a comment on a community post. Until then, I will moderate them.

comcreator ,

Just getting the ball rolling, that is all

comcreator ,

If you wanted a lemmy graveyard instance community, would you create it, find others to help moderate it and get the ball rolling? The answer is most likely not. That is why I make these communities, so they exist and to get them going.

We need a more user-friendly approach to telling people about the Fediverse (kbin.social)

I'm assuming most of us here want a large community. The reality is most people aren't into technology nearly as much as many of the people actually on the Fediverse. For other people who are into tech (like myself and a lot of people here), the federation technology itself being promoted as a core component of the appeal makes...

!redditexodusarmy is a community I created for others to join and share ways of promoting Lemmy to Redditors.

Essentiallly an elevator pitch is the best way to promote Lemmy. Don’t make it a long speech on why Lemmy is good. Keep it short and exciting.

comcreator OP ,

Did you want to become a moderator for some of these communities? If so, send me a DM.

comcreator OP ,

I have started many communities and got them going to were I stepped down as a moderator and let others run them. Maybe lacking engagement right now but in time I am sure it will get itself going.

comcreator ,

Just leave twitter and use any mastodon instance.

comcreator ,

Wait, so this will allow phones with supported hardware to SMS and calls anywhere in the world, even in the middle of nowhere with no cellular coverage?

comcreator ,

Matrix is the federated alternative to Signal.

However it would be cool to see Signal implementing their encryption into Matrix and turning Signal into a Matrix provider, becoming a federated messanger.

True

Who owns or controls .world domains?

I think .ee and .ca are fine. lemmy.ca is for Canadians specifically

    comcreator ,

Facts. And such drama does make Lemmy more appealing in a way

    comcreator ,

Yes, but at least one of the services must be using a subdomain.

    comcreator ,

Go to the search and change community from “All” to the community of your choice.

It is not Lemmy or kbin, it is the fediverse. (kbin.social)

I don't think many people understand that if they use Lemmy or kbin, they are posting to the fediverse. There are other platforms and will be more to come. Referring to a post on "Lemmy" or "kbin" is like saying you saw a post on your Windows or Mac computer....

    comcreator ,

Why not “lemmyverse” for lemmy federation?

lemmy.world has bent the knee to corporations. Consolidated comments into body.

I don’t think this is EEE, I think this is a chance for meta to dominate the narrative by drowning us out with algorithmically curated censorship, distractions, hatred, outrage etc. I would join threads if I want threads, I would be on Reddit if I want corporate influence....

    comcreator ,

If anyone does decide to leave lemmy.world, do not leave the lemmyverse. Join another lemmy instance or start your own instance. Lemmy is the future. Free, open source, federated link aggregator.

    comcreator ,

What is the difference between lemmy and kbin? Is Kbin PHP while lemmy is rust based?

    comcreator ,

I understand privacy being a concern but reddit, lemmy and kbin are not designed for privacy since all posts are public. I guess the upvote/downvotes could be more private perhaps which will protect what users voted on if a database leak occurred.

And E2EE messages are coming in the future I believe

    comcreator ,

Brutal. It an option more distros need.
